For a view of the falls and a romantic package - check out the Embassy Suites - full falls view (has floor to ceiling windows/fireplace) and ask for one with the hotub.

Stayed at the Hilton - not much cheaper and not as nice view. When you are in Niagara Falls, check out the Hershey store for chocolate covered strawberries. For a fun dinner location, Copacabana is fun - brazilian dancers on the weekend.

I also agree with the recommendation that you check out Niagara on the Lake - very romantic.

Have fun!

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

I highly recommend checking out some wineries while you're down (if you're into that). I live in St. Catharines...

Here's an interesting hotel, I've never been but they have theme rooms lol...

Michael's Inn.

Ok, but seriously now..the Americana has gorgeous hotel rooms. It's not downtown Niagara Falls, it's about a 10 minute drive from all the hustle and bustle. I'm staying in this for my wedding night:

This is also a very handy website for you:

http://www.infoniagara.com/lodging.html

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

My DH and I went to Niagara Falls for our honeymoon last month. We allowed ourselves $1000 for 2 nights. We stayed at the Hilton (jacuzzi suite with a view of the city and the Fallsview Casino - $200 extra for a falls view room was not worth it to us). The hotel package included breakfast both mornings and a $75 voucher for dinner in the restaurant on the 33rd floor - an awesome view of the falls at night and the food was wonderful.

For entertainment we went to three museums on the main strip (Louis Toussad's wax museum was our favourite) and took longs walks by the falls. One night we went to the casino and wandered through the shops there before spending a little on the slot machines. On the way home the last day we went to the butterfly conservatory which was really quite breathtaking.

The majority of the hotels offer a tour bus package that will take you to see all the sights and offer some historical perspective on the area.

For DH and I, the price was right and we love the idea of being able to go back every year and stay at the same place for our anniversary.

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

Victorian Charm Bed and Breakfast is ten mins away from the falls its an 1880's antiquey sort place with spa treatmentsl. Price for the honeymoon suite is 150 off season and after May 185 a night..but every month they have specials like icewine for May..etc I can relate to the honeymoon budget we just bought a house and have a four year old soo the honeymoon will more than likely be the same..I have heard of honeymoon registry..has anyone done this??

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

Thanks kromank. That is really helpful.:D Do you know of any good B&B's in the parkway with falls view?
Thanks again.:D
Juli

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

I live in the falls and also have been to every hotel in the area, if you want something really romantic with a great view, the Marriott or the Minolta are amazing, the sheritan fallsview is good as well but the view is not as great. The Casino is also very nice, very expensive and not really worth the cost, but nice. Depending on the time of year that you are coming its going to be pricey no matter where in the falls that you go. You are talking 150-200 a night for the fallsview at the least. If you want something more reasonable with the same kind of view there are B&B's on the parkway closer the falls that are also very romantic. There is also the Hilton and the Rennessance that are directly in front of the Casino that have some good views as well, and may be a little cheaper than the ones right on the falls. The Hilton has rooms with fireplaces. There pool is awsome too, they have waterslides! The new hotel that just went in is Great Wolf Lodge, There is no view there of anything and its geared for kids, not romatic at all!!! And you are paying for there waterpark and crap there that has nothing to do with the falls! Its a great place to take kids, not so romantic though! And expensive!!!
As for things to do, Clifton hill is always a joy! Tackey but fun! It has pretty much everything on it. Museums and fun houses and stuff, its a great walk. There is a Rain Forest Cafe, and WWF rides. Its Fun. For actual falls stuff, there is the maid of the mist and the tonnels, They are the best for getting the true feeling of the falls. I would suggest going to Table Rock as well, thats where the tonnels are, you can stand right in front of the falls, great for pictures. Also if you are coming in the summer there is fireworks everynight over the falls and they usually have a band playing in the park, its relaxing. To see the whole area you can go to the top of the Sklon Tower. You can pretty much see it all from up there. There is nothing really to do at the tower, but it has a great view. If you want to know the history of the falls go to the IMAX theatre, its a giant piramind ya cant miss it. That will show you the history of the falls, and the area. To see it all you can take the Parks Commission People Mover, that will take you to all the things on the parkway that are more visual. There is a butterfly Conservitory and Botanical Gardens. Very interesting and while you are on the bus they give you a low down on info of the area, nice too if you have done a lot of walking and need a rest. They will have packages at the front desk of the hotel that you stay at for pretty much everything in the falls. Marineland, ya dont waste your money!! Seriously! Waste! Its just a lot of walking to see sad animals!

Ok, Niagara on the lake, amazing place to visit. If you go to the main street (follow the parkway will take you right there) it has amazing little shops and the best fudge store EVER!!! If you dont want to take the wine tour with other people they have wine tour maps so that you can go as you want and dont have to be rushed. There are A LOT of wineries!

I think thats pretty much it, other than the obvious Casino, but its no different than any other Casino. Nothing great about it. They sometimes have some great entertainment going on but other than that, nothing special.

Hope that this helps!

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

Thanks for all the advice ladies. That's really helpful. I think its going to be really fun. :D FH has never been there, and I have only been there for a day years ago, so it will be nice.
Thanks again for the info, and keep it coming!!!

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

if you enjoy theatre, there is also the SHaw festival in NOTL. Look up on line which plays are running the time you will be in NF. If you decide to go, you will have to order tickets in advance.

If you plan right NF can be reasonable, but it can also be really expensive, so do some research and plan ahead.

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

I suggest if you plan on doing the "touristy" things like clifton hill and the falls boat and stuff, pick and choose first, because they are pricey! That way you end up getting what you wanted most. There is a scary ass haunted house, its right off clifton hill, I can't remember the street, I think its called screamers, usually they don't scare me, that one scared the hell outta me! They actually have REAL people hiding in the dark and they grab your ankles and such. ughhe.

Theres also an outlet mall in the area and St. Catharines has a large mall too, its only about 15-20 min from the falls.

have fun!

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

I agree with both these ladies, if you want a view of the falls, go to Sheratan Fallviews. There is also a new hotel there which you should check out (even its for the day)..which has a huge waterpark, which would be fun. Niagara on the lake is very romantic, and there are tons of wine tours which you could also do.

You will have sooooo much fun in Niagara:)

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

Niagara on the lake is beautiful and has the most beautiful B+B's.... and its only a a little drive away from the falls.....

Look into it you might find a deal --- Niagara on the lake is so romantic and lots of little things to do

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

OHHH.... I have been there plenty of times! I actually got engaged there!! I would also recommend the FallsView Casino and hotel.... it is the nicest if having a really nice hotel room is important to you. There are lots of things you can do! The is the Butterfly Conservatory and Botanical Gardens (where i got engaged!), winery tours, and of course all the things to do with the falls... the boat ride under the falls and the tour that takes you inder the falls. And gambeling too! It is very romantic at night, becasue they light up the falls. Although you may not spend lots of money on your honeymoon, it will be fun and memorable! ~ Alli xoxo

RE: Niagara fall?!?!?!!

If you want a great hotel, the Fallsview Sheraton is amazing. If you want something a little more personal, than one of the many B&B's is a good choice and they are right along the parkway that runs by the falls.

Don't forget to head into Niagara on the Lake, they have the best shopping there.

Niagara fall?!?!?!!

So, FH and I are trying to save for a house, while we pay for most of our wedding, so our budget for the honeymoon isn't huge - about $1000 for the two of us.

We have decided to go to Niagara Falls for a few days - probably three. We are driving from my parents place, which is about 9 hours away. We will over night in Saratoga NY, then head to Niagara the next day for three days.

My question is, has anyone stayed there? I would like something romantic, I would LOVE a falls view room, but i don't know if we can afford that. If anyone has any info on where to stay, somewhere that is romantic, that would be really helpful. Also, any tips about fun stuff to do there would be great too (other then the falls and wineries of course!!!)

Thanks ladies.

Juli
