When I went to Paris I took the EuroStar train from London Waterloo station, it was fast & cheap, maybe you could look into that.

Ooh! I loved Spain even more than France! Are you going to Barcelona? If so, I recommend doing a day trip to Figueres to see the Dali museum. It was my favourite part of my trip!

I think our route was Paris - Ponterson - Blois - Paris.

We had two weeks, and a lot of it was spent exploring Paris...

Make sure you have enough time to just sit back and eat and drink! My favourite memory of France is of eating crepes and drinking wine in a little restaurant in Ponterson. Ponterson isn't even a tourist town!!

Can you recommend any other great places in France to visit please. We are going to be planning our own trip. We are going to the library this weekend to look at all kinds of literature and what not. It will be great!

We went through a travel agent when we planned our European honeymoon. It was AWESOME and soooo completely stress free. Everything was taken care of beforehand. I liked knowing that I had a direct person to call IF a problem came up.

i think it would be better if you planned your own trip - research various places you'd want to go and the best way to travel (i think) is by train. you see a lot of the countryside, rather inexpensive and much more spontaneous! marseille is pretty. the whole cote d'azur is a bit of a bore. there's the long promenade along the beach, riddled with casinos. the smaller towns are much more interesting to visit.

I was in France recently. We took a train tour of the country... flew into London (much cheper than flying into Paris) and took the train under the channel to get from London to Paris. The train ticket is cheap and short and definitely the best way to go.

We planned our own trip and travelled by train from Paris to Lyon, down to Nice (took several day trips along the coast from here) and then down to visit friends in a small town called Foix. It was an incredible trip and I'd highly recommend it.

If you end up goign to Nice take the time to take the train into Eze. It's about a 15 minute train ride and DEFINITELY WORTH it. It's breathtaking.

I was looking at packages on [url=http://www.flightcentre.ca]Flight Centre's website[/url] the other day - they had some for Greece, some for Italy, some for multi-destination, etc.

I would think you don't need a flight from London to Paris - you can take Euro Rail which is not a long trip from what I understand and gives you a different perspective on travel.

Sounds like a great trip. Do you know what you'd like to do while in France? Start by thinking about what you're both into and try to divide time evenly.

I think it's a nice idea to do 2 countries and split the planning evenly that way. :)

We are going to Europe, but we are planning the trip ourselves. We have purchased travel books and we rent travel movies from the library b/c some of the shows have great tips and offer good ideas about what to do while on vacation. I would recommend to plan the trip yourselves. We broke out the work. I'm planning our time in one country and he's planning our time in another country. So, I'm going to read the travel book and decide what we'll do and how we'll do it for my week of planning.

FH and I are thinking of going to France, maybe fly in to London and then fly to Paris, and then home from somewhere South.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone in the GTA has done this or is doing this and has any advice...or what travel agent should we deal with??
