Two were my mom's cousins - didn't come due to illness, but RSVPd no. Two were frineds from Vancouver, and couldn't fly in at the last minute due to work (had already rescheduled flights once), the other was my cousin breaking up with her lazy lout of a boyfriend (happy about this one, I didn't really want him there). So, all in all, not bad, but I didn't invite the neighbours, or people that I rarely see. One couple surprised me, and actually came. The wife is an author and has just published a new book and is usually overseas at book launches, so I was happy that they were able to attend.

RE: How many invited didnt attend?

27 declined.
Invited 213, 186 came. The majority of the 'no' were those invited with an 'and guest' that came solo - which we knew would happen.

RE: How many invited didnt attend?

I'm not married yet so I can't comment on myself, but I went to 3 weddings last year of close friends.

1. Invited 330 - 230 said yes. This was a Polish/portugese wedding -- they invited every single neighbour with their kids and their kids guests -- all of their parents friends kids were invite with guests as well (you get the idea) - hence the low 'yes' rate.

2. Invited 300 - 250 said yes. This was a greek/italian wedding. They did not go as detailed wit the guest list as the above couple did (much to the chagrin of their parents) and I think that's why they had more 'yeses'.

3. Invited 150 - 140 said yes - Canadian wedding.

My point is that only you (not your parents, not your in-laws) can evaluate how many people will come. The more "removed" they are, the higher the 'no' rate (probably). So if you have already limited the guest list to only first cousins for example, then you're more likely to have them all come.

Like the PPers said, if you have a lot from overseas, then ok, maybe invite more, but if they are all local and you don't have 100 single people that probably won't invite guests -- don't chance it.

You can't uninvite people!

We invited 178 and are hoping for 150-160. Our guest list was limited (not everyone under the sun).

Hope that helps?

RE: How many invited didnt attend?

Ooooh....I'd be careful too! We invited 120 guests (of which we knew that 40 would not come as they were overseas)...but of the 80 remaining, only 4 were no shows!

Hope this helps.
Linda

RE: How many invited didnt attend?

Hello Mellie019!

We had a small wedding(under 100) but still had about 8 couples say No due to distance etc... I think if your hall can only hold 250-280 I would stick to your numbers. If your soon to be inlaws are not willing to cut their numbers they might need to due to firecodes. Best of luck!

RE: How many invited didnt attend?

Hello Mellie019!

We had a small wedding(under 100) but still had about 8 couples say No due to distance etc... Shower invites have already gone out and wedding invitations have been ordered and to be sent out in a week. We have had this conversation 3 times now but it doesnt seem to be setting in with them:angry:

The lady at the hall said she can fit 250 people (including WP) by using only round tables, which is what I want. So our list right now is 280. Which to me is perfect cuz that allows 30 people to reply no. Yet his parents are saying invite 300 to get 200 yeses.

FH's cousin just got married last year and they only had 17 no's, so being that it is pretty much the same family this is what I am using as a reference. So can you guys tell me how many no's/no shows you guys had at your weddings?
