Just a quick thank you to all the ladies that provided images for me to practice on - thank you for sharing your photos & memories with me!

With a busy work schedule, family & life in general, I unfortunately have no more free time to work on this "project" even though I love to do it!

While I know I still need to hone my skills and learn more techniques, I am confident that I have enough of what it takes to do this as a profession. If there are any ladies out there that I have done work for that feel inclined to write a little “testimony” for me, I would very much appreciate it :)

Again, thank you for sharing your beautiful photographs with me, I enjoyed every single one! :D

This bride did not get a photograph of herself with her brother on her wedding day which was a major regret for her.
Here, the group image provided was edited to move her brother next to her and create the shot which was missed.

I was lucky my bridesmaids nephew took all my pictures, and a friend did some too. So no copyrites on my photos as they are not professionals. But I do have two photos were my nipple is showing, (my dress was strapless and fell down a little on the left side)

After a loooooooooong haitus because with my little man taking up 198% of my time (I'm a new mommy!) i thought I'd throw this out there again if anyone needs some help.

For those that e-mailed me and never heard a response, it is either because:

A) I literally got bombarded with e-mails and had to put my offer of help on hold because I literally did not have enough hours in the day to work on them all.

OR

B) Your e-mail either ended up in my junkmail and/or I never received it (which happened on at least 2 occasions that I can verify).

So throw it at me again ladies...and PLEASE be patient!

I'm so sorry to hear your at home photographer hasn't followed through on her promises to you. I always make sure that my clients have their photos in less than a month after their shoot.

I agree with you that you or any bride booking a photographer should feel 100% comfortable and should ask for references.

I did not intend my comments to be directed toward you personally. I apologize if you felt I did.
Thank you for acknowledging that there are some in the photography field that actually do practice business this way. Actually more than some.

Nonetheless, YES, this is a public board and vendors can and should look at what's going on here. That way, they can see that we are all well aware that not only should we have our photographs edited "for free" but we also have the right to own the images we paid to have taken. And, we also know that if one photographer won't offer this, there are plenty out there that will. We invite those photographers to make themselves known and encourage them to solicit our business!

It also begs the question: is this really necessary to post? Implying that the ladies of these boards are ignorant or oblivious about copyrights is not only pretentious but pretty offensive. FYI, many of the photos that I am editing are NOT professionally taken. In fact, most are from family member's & friends cameras. Scary how a few simple edits can make uncle Bob's photos look professional isn't it?

This is EXACTLY why I started learning how to edit photos. Some "professional" photographers not only know how to take great (and NOT so great) pictures, but also how to collect$. With digital technology being what it is today, there is NO REASON why a photographer should hold onto the digital negatives which essentially holds the bride&groom hostage to paying outrageous prices for enlargements and coffee table books. When a freelance photographer is hired by a business to do a photoshoot, he does the job, is paid, and goes home. The business then OWNS those images and can do with them what they like. When a photographer takes photographs for his own collection or for resale, he owns the rights to those photos then can SELL THE RIGHTS to use and reuse each image as he/she feels fit. If I'm paying a photographer $2000 to shoot my wedding, as far as I'm concerned he's being fairly compensated for his work and, I OWN THOSE IMAGES.

If nothing else comes from this whole thread but this, I will be happy:

LADIES: please know that there ARE PLENTY of photographers out there that WILL shoot your wedding, shoot it well, AND give you the digital negatives to own. FIND THESE PHOTOGRAPHERS AND HIRE THEM!! My advice to you if you encounter a photographer that says otherwise: STEER CLEAR!! Go to someone else who isn't looking to fleece you because you want to own your memories. And if they give you the typical "Intellectual/Artistic property" schpeel, just know that YOU ARE PAYING FOR THEIR SERVICES...if they were shooting your wedding for free then selling you one image at a time, FINE! But I'll be damned if I see another bride spend thousands of dollars up front only to be bled dry for her photographs later.

I don't lurk the boards, I'm newly married myself and enjoy reading the posts. Yes I'm a vendor. Do I do what you just mentioned when it comes to photography-not exactly. If my brides see something in their photo they don't like I'll fix it no charge. It's part of my service.

Please don't take offense to what I posted, by no means am I trying to take work away from you or imply that these ladies are ignorant. I think you do good stuff and if you're helping those who weren't able to have a professional capture their day then by all means keep on going! :) I just merely wanted to make some of the brides aware that their contract may have stated differently.

I go over my contract in full with my brides, nothing is hidden - unfortunately that isn't the case with all photographers. Some photographers as you say are money hungry and don't care about the bride and grooms feelings-I am not one of these. I know personally what it's like to be getting married, you find a photographer you love, you look over the contract thinking you've read everything and then you get your photos back and they're terrible, then they want to charge you an arm and a leg to fix them.
I don't work that way, so please Smoopie don't paint me with the same brush.
