Hi there,

So for our wedding, I don't want to hire a full time wedding planner, 1) because i don't mind and actually love doing all the planning myself 2) I am budget concious, and don't need the help staying within my budget. HOWEVER, I'm very nervous that on the day of the wedding, there will be too many little things that I'll have to take care of, so i was wondering what you guys thought of a "day of" coordinator. Did you have one? Are you glad you did? Do you wish you had one? What was your experience?

The Best & Worst Places to Register

Hi All!!

My fiance and I are almost at the registy stage and I'm hoping to get some great advice from other Canadian Brides :)

My cousin and I were recently in Bowring, trying to pick out something from her friend's registry, and the experience was awful!

In your opinion:

Which retailer has the best registry system?
Which has the worst?
Were the staff able to find the items on the registry quickly?

Also:

Did you hear about any guests having trouble purchasing for you?

I just want to minimize the chance that our guests have the type of experience we did.

Hiya, I saw an ad for this company in a paper today...they're putting he next catalogue together and want "good looking men, women and children" for the photo shoots. I called their number 416-363-8000 and they didn't give me much details except to say that you have to book an appointment at their office in downtown toronto then ask all your questions .there. I checked BBB and they seem legit, B+ rating but not BBB accredited.

Has anyone been part of a photo shoot with this mag or inquired of it? Or heard of any complaints or anything?

downtown is a bit of a trek for me but if it turned out to be a good opp then i don't mind going.

Shuttle Bus

Hi Girls,
I am just beginning the planning for our July 2011 wedding. We are getting married in Kettleby (The Manor) and some of my fiance's friend's don't drive so they will have a hard time getting up there from Toronto. Has anyone ever rented some kind of shuttle bus to shuttle people up to the venue and then back again at a certain time? We were thinking of having a meeting place where everyone who wants to take the shuttle can meet and then get dropped off there also.
Any information would be great!

I have a recommendation for you girls! The woman who did the delicious cupcakes for my rehearsal dinner last year has opened up a business, and you guys should check her out. I still can't stop thinking of the deliciousness.

She makes a bunch of fancy cupcakes--some of my favorites were coconut cupcakes with lime icing, and her red velvet with cream cheese icing. But the truly best best cupcakes of all time were her Guinness (yes!) cupcakes with Bailey's icing. Oh. My. God. She's an artistic person and her cupcakes look as pretty as they taste.

Anyway, she has an Etsy store now so you can check out a few things. She charges a highly reasonable $25-$30 per dozen cupcakes.

My fiance and I had the idea of hiring a magician to do a strolling performance during cocktail hour before our wedding reception (e.g. David Blaine, Criss Angel). We found an entertainer from Toronto named Bobby Motta.
