i have a questions regarding engagement photography. I have been lurking on this forum for almost over a year but have never really posted anyting..but my wedding day is soon aprocahing and i would like to get my enageemnt photography done...but im wondering if i have to obtain the permit for parks etc to do the session..?? soo confused. Or does the photographer gets that for us...

Associate Wedding Planner, Christina Burns had the joy of Coordinating a very beautiful traditional Ukranian wedding for Mariana & Bohdan. The title of this blog relates to how colourful their wedding was. Many couples choose two colours, with maybe an accent colour thrown in. Mariana and Bohdan were bold and went for a multitude of colours, and it worked perfectly for them!

They had a Ukranian wedding, wearing traditional Ukranian attire for the blessing and ceremony, and then changing for the reception. One of the highlights of the wedding was the band, and the Ukrianian dancers that clapped, jumped and stomped across the dance floor for the guests.

This wedding was truly a mixture of old world charm for a new world couple!

Stylist Needed

HELP!!!! My Maid of Honor and Flower Girl both have beautiful long hair and they need to have it styled the day of the wedding. After much begging my best friend who is standing up for me agreed to stay with me downtown the night before to help me get ready. I've booked my make-up artist but need a hair stylist now who can possibly come to the downtown TO area and who is not going to quote something crazy like $500 to just show up (it happened), had a make-up artist quote $1,000 just for me as well (didn't book her). My hair is short so all I need is my veil secured.

Does anyone have suggestions????

Also, has anyone else noted that as soon as you say the word "wedding" the price of everything triples? I feel like people are trying to take advantage - and if I hear the line "It's your one special day you can't go cheap" I'm going to scream. $1,000 for make-up for one day - I don't think I'm being cheap I'm being reasonable. Last time I checked in the mirror it was not Gwen Stefani staring back.

I thought that I should share some of the engagement photos from last Saturday. When I first met the couple, Michelle (the bride) told me that she wasn't a big fan of engagement photos being done on the park. So I figured that maybe I should bring them in Toronto by Massey Hall and do some shots in a dirty alley. On the way I saw this old television on the sidewalk so I thought that maybe I could use this as a prop during the shoot :rolleyes: . Here I am walking in the streets of Toronto with my heavy camera gear and an old TV :crazy: . In the first pic, I accidentally included a guy smoking in the corner but for some reason he adds some mood in the photograph.

Saturday, July 19, 2008 has recently become available on our calendar. To fill it, we're going to try something different, at least for us: [b]we're auctioning it on eBay[/b].

Up for bid is [b]six hours of event coverage[/b] by yours truly on July 19 anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area and a set of [b]high-resolution images[/b] on archival DVDs. We're also offering a number of add-ons (like gorgeous books or an engagement session) at special prices, but only for the winning bidder.

Bidding started Saturday, May 3 at just $1.00 with [b]no reserve[/b]. The auction closes Saturday, May 10 at noon Eastern.

If you're being married on July 19 and haven't yet booked a photographer, or if you're relying on a friend or family member to handle photography, you may want to place a bid. If you already have a photographer but you'd like a another perspective on your day this, too, may be for you. You could even give this as a gift to someone else.

I have been a little under the weather lately so I have not been on the board much but thankfully I am on the mend now and busy getting all the Weddings Done that are booked and fast approaching.

This is a lovely silk lilly of the valley bouquet I am currently finishing I just love these beautiful and romantic bouquets there so classic and look nice with just about any dress! This one has three lovely silk roses iin it some nicer fillers as well as nine tiny crystals for some bling! The Moh will be carrying a bouquet of lovely red roses the larger rose taken from the bunch that contained the buds.

If you need a DJ look no further. I Have lot's of experince in weddings and corporate functions. Here is some more info on the service I can provide.
I have been DJ'ing for 24 years. I started DJ'ing in high school, and later worked in bars in downtown Toronto. There are two different DJ styles I can offer you. One is your typical wedding format and second is a bar style format spinning Dance, House, R and B, Latin, Old School and Disco. My music library is well over 20,000 songs, music from the 50's to current music being played on the radio today. As a pro I mix my music so there are no gaps between songs. My basic price starts at $695.00 for 8 hours. I offer a discount from the months of Jan to the end of mar 2008 ($450.00) My equipment is 100% professional and I do have back up equipment in the van ready to go at all times. For special effects, I have a full intelligent light show with a huge 20" mirror ball or just a few lights to add some excitement on the dance floor. I take bookings daily so my list is updated on a regular basis. Here are my booked dates. To keep excellent customer service. I try not to accept no more than 7 weddings a month.

I DO NOT SUB CONTRACT OUT! I am your DJ. I do have back up DJ’s on call at all times. Some big companies will book you with one DJ and at the last minute switch the DJ. I have worked in the past for other companies and trust me they pay there DJ’s real poorly. If you a get a DJ that is getting hardly any money for his effort he may not give you 100% at your wedding. The Secrets to Hiring the Right DJ Service It is true what they say about the entertainment at a wedding, it is the most important component. It is no secret that the market is saturated with DJs, so how do you hire the right DJ for your budget?

The process of narrowing it down:
DO NOT make price the deciding factor. Compile a list of DJs you have seen in the past, ask friends for referrals, and ask for “preferred DJs” and opinions from your other event vendors. Then narrow your selection down to 3 professional DJ services. Look for a DJ Service that stands out from the rest.

Make contact:
Book your DJ at least 6 months in advance. Although email inquiries are increasing in popularity, nothing beats talking with your DJ service over the phone. How they conduct themselves over the phone is a great indication of how professional they are and how they perform in public. Things to listen for… Are they confident? Can they offer you a professional and easy to read website to refer to? Did they answer their phone when you contacted them? Was there a quick turn around time when responding to your inquires? Or do you have to wait days for a reply back? All of these are indications of whether you are considering a full time professional DJ service. Do not be fooled into thinking that all-inclusive packages are the only options for your entertainment. A professional DJ service will spend the time getting to know you first and talk about pricing last.

The consultation:
Whenever possible, ask to meet with the DJ or DJ Service at their office/residence. A professional DJ service will be proud of their environment, and will welcome the opportunity to display their equipment. This consultation is a great opportunity for you to meet with them in person, and start to build a relationship. This consultation will give you an idea of how they will treat your wedding and making your day a memorable one.
