They receive babies from all over their state and take care of them until they are placed with their adoptive families. I still have several younger siblings at home and they love each of these babies as their own siblings. They keep a diary for each of them complete with pictures and funny stories - and then present the diary to the new moms. It's a great experience for everyone involved.

RE: Foster Parenting...

My parents are in the process of applying to be foster parents and I and FH will be their support team. I know a woman who fostered while her own children were growing up and there were instances where it was very hard on her biological children (including a time where one foster child accused one of her biological children of molestation - he was devastated even though his name was cleared). I think that both your own children's needs and foster children's needs would each be so unique and so consuming that it wouldn't be fair to any of them to try manage both at once.

RE: Foster Parenting...

I would definatley be a foster parent.. I have 5 of my own so it would have to be when they get a bit older but I would sooo do it. I lived in 2 foster homes as a teen..(through no fault of my own).. my mom fell violently ill and she could no longer care for me. The first home I was in was aweful.. I hated it. I was their first and they used me as a guinea pig. Then I moved into another one and it was one of the greatest experiences in my life. I was taught so much about me and life. They were there for me and it was great. I went on to an independant living program when I was 16 and the rest is history. I still talk to my foster father from the second home today and he will be at my wedding.. he says he wouldn't miss it for the world. I think that there should be more "GOOD" homes around. People who have been there and no what its like to go through the bullSh** that most of these kids face. I appauled you MRSM and hope that you would open your home again. Sorry that I got so personal but those are the reasons why I would become a foster parent.

Foster Parenting...

Have you ever been a foster parent? Would you consider being a foster parent? Why or why not??

I was a foster parent ... it was an interesting experience. I would have preferred a child under 6 yrs old .. but instead, I fostered a teen because the agency was in need. Wow .. the joys of teenagers ... life was definitely interesting and she kept me on my toes lol!
