Well I honestly can say I love being a mom, the best gift in the world.:)

Matteo will be 7 weeks old as of tomorrow, not sure how much he weighs but as of October 1st he was 8 pounds 9oz and 21 inches long, The drs were scard cause he was born 7pounds 10 oz but leaving the hospital he was only 6pounds 15oz, he is a little piggy and sure loves to eat :)

I am breastfeeding Matteo and pumping, I have been giving Matteo a bottle once a day since he was 5 days old.(some days I give him 2, I really like to give him a bottle as its a break on my boob lol, matteo is an excellant latcher, we have no problems with nipple confusion.

He is an excellant sleeper so far, we have had one bad night since his birth, matteo goes down at 930pm feeds at 12ish and than again at 4ish and isnt back up til 7, and than eats and goes to sleep to 9am (so not bad)

Matteo is an easy baby for the most part, always alert, smiling, and calm. Dont get me wrong there are times he crys like when he baths and I am late at feeding him :)

My baby weight came off in the first week(I gained 28 in total) home all but 6 pounds that I have to lose and I am 7 weeks postpartum, I was wearing my normal jeans, I wore them when I came home frmo the hospital and still am, I feel like I am carrying my extra weight in my chest :D which I am okay with lol. I have started to run again, I have a half marathon to run in april as a goal I set once Matteo was here..

You know I never thought of getting Jaxon adjusted, but when my Chiropractor said, let's check him out. It was a light bulb moment! Jaxon is such a happier baby after his adjustments, so he gets an adjustment each week, just like me.

Hi ladies, I am another August mommy who never posted her birth story.....sorry!

Peyton will be 17 weeks old on Monday, she was due on August 5th but ended up coming 6 weeks and 1 day early. She weighed 6lbs 5ozs when she was born, and 1 1/2 weeks ago she was 10lbs 6ozs, she's a tiny thing but the Dr. said as long as she doubles her birth weight by the time she's 5 months he's happy.

Mommyhood for me at first was rough. Peyton had colic, and she would cry and scream for 6-7 hours at a time. She would cry that much she would make her little voice hoarse, and alot of time I didn't know what else to do but cry right along with her!! But since she was around 3 months old she's been getting better and better. She'll sleep for around 6 hours, wake up and feed and then sleep for another 2-3 hours. She is the apple of my eye, and everytime I look at her whether she's laughing or crying I always tell her that she makes her mom's heart smile!!

Ever since she was born I never produced alot of milk, I am taking medication to make me produce more milk but its still not enough. So I BF and then top her up with formula. We think she has a dairy sensitivity, so I have given up dairy, and her formula is Alimentum, lactose and soy free.

That's about it for now. I just want to let you all know that you're baby's are beautiful!!! I see pictures on Facebook, and they are gorgeous. We are all very lucky ladies to have such wonderful children!!

Hello August Mommas!

I'm so happy this have been revived! I was wanting to hear how everyone is doing. I see pictures on facebook but that doesn't do justice and I never know how you are doing. Glad to hear things are well with all you Mommy's.

Here is our update.
Charlotte is the love of our lives. Every morning when I wake up to her smiling face my heart just melts. She is a very good baby, but definitely lets you know when she doesn't like something (ir: wet diaper, to hott/cold etc...) She's got a great set of lungs on her...just like her Mommy.

She just recently started sleeping though the night. We go for a walk with a friend and her baby around 6:30 every evening, come home, play for a bit and then start bedtime routine by 7:30-8:00pm. She is usually fed and down by 8:30-8:45 and will then sleep through until 4:30-5:00am. She'll get up, feed for 20 minutes and then be back asleep until 8 or 9. Needless to say, I feel like a well rested Mommy.

With all of our breastfeeding issues at the start, I am glad to say that Charlotte is now ebf as has been since she was 4 weeks old. We went through a phase where we thought she had a milk allergy but I've been eating milk products again and she's been fine so YEY! She had weight gain issues at the beginning and it took us nearly 7 weeks to hit the 9 pound mark. Last week I took her to the health unit for her shots and she weighed 9lbs 13oz so she is doing very well now. She too, like Brooklynn is still in newborn clothes, with a few 0-3month things that she is swimming in but I still put on her.

She started rolling over last night from her tummy to her back- I unforunately missed it :( but my sister in law saw it so that was good. At least it wasn't missed by everyone! She is also smiling and cooing ALL THE time. She is just a little dolly.

As for me, I am doing GREAT! I feel better now then I think I ever have. I still have 20lbs to lose (I only gained 36 in total) but it doesn't really bother me that much. I don't feel like I look 20lbs heavier than before? I can't wear any pre-preggo clothes because my hips went from a 28 to a 32 so I need ALL new clothes. And all my shirts don't fit because of my ginormous boobs! Good love breastfeeding!

Hi August Mammas!!!

Glad to hear everyone's babies are doing great!!

Makayla is 10 weeks old and weighs approx. 10 and a half lbs. She was born 5 11 so she's gained quite a bit. She has not been as easy as the rest of your lo's LOL
She only really cries at night between a set hour and that is a sign of colic so I believe she has it. She fusses a little throughout the day but not much. The crying at night can be stressful because she only wants mommy and this hurt DH quite a bit at the beginning. He also didn't have the patience I thought he would and he would get frustrated easily. Now he understands and he puts her in the football hold and she calms down nicely! At the beginning she demanded to be held all day but now I can set her down for 15-20 minutes and she will happily play on her mat. She is unfortunately a terrible sleeper but she does eat quite a bit so I'm not worried that she wakes up to feed so often. For the past few days she has given us some 3-4 hour stretches which is nice!!

She is sort of a Diva and knows what she wants. She will scream bloody murder if she's hungry or needs a diaper change. On a better note she has been smiling since she was born. I attribute the smiles to gas but now she smiles just because!! Her hospital picture has a little smirk in it!!:)

Breastfeeding was very challenging at the beginning but around week 5 we both got the hang of things and now we have an excellent BF relationship. I do pump though just to have daddy or someone else feed!

Being a mom is both exhausting and rewarding and I'm so happy that I've been blessed with this experience!!

Hey Aug Mamas,

From the sounds of it, everyone is doing quite well. These Aug babies seem to be good little boys and girls :)

Here is Our update (funny we never even posted our birth story)...

Brooklynn has been a VERY good baby since the moment she was born. We left the hospital only 3 hours after she was born and it has been smooth sailing ever since!

She has been such a good sleeper, I don't even feel like a mom to a 6 (almost 7) week old. She normally sleeps until 4:50-4:59am (just in time to wake Daddy up for work) and then goes back down until 9:00am ish. There are some night where she sleeps right through until 7:00-8:30am!!!

It has been sooo nice to have a baby that actually sleeps because our second DS was colic for so long, that I didn't sleep for almost two years.

Brooklynn started rolling over (when on her belly) at about 2 weeks. I heard from other moms that there babies did this, but never believed it until our little princess did it herself. Tummy time doesn't last for more than a few seconds around here because she either rolls over or starts moving herself across the floor (out of anger) lol.

Baby smiles...don't they just melt your heart? Although Brooklynn is our third child, the little things they do never seem to get old. She started smiling as a reaction the day she turned 4 weeks. I must say that I am happy that she started early because the first week or so, it wasn't an "all the time" thing. By 5 weeks, she was smiling anytime I spoke to her :)

Brooklynn was born at 21 1/2" and 7lbs 13oz. At 4 weeks she was 23 3/4" and at 6.5 weeks she weighs only 9lbs 4oz :( Her weight has been a huge issue for the drs as she is in the 95 percentile for height but only the 3rd percentile for weight (even worse because she is forumla fed).

She is a super happy/content baby that is otherwise 100% perfect. However, she just refuses to pack on the pounds like she should be. Hopefully she will go through a huge growth spurt and this will change! For now she still wears newborn clothing and I sew in 1.5-2" on both sides of her pants lol.

Our little princess has added so much to our lives...it is so amazing! The love that we have for her can not be put into words. The way her brothers interact with her always brings tears to my eyes! Life is just so perfect :D

Hopefully we will be joining one of the pregnancy clubs again :) I have been good and ready for another one for a few weeks now lol. However, dh wants to wait a little bit. He likes the age gap with the kids now (there is 2 years between all of them), but has agreed to give Brooklynn a sibling (pregnancy) for her first birthday, if not before then!

I hope everyone is well and look forward to more updates in the future (although facebook updates and pics are great too)

Great idea!

I'll give a little update while Jaxon is sleeping.

Jaxi is 17 weeks old today, but b/c of his prematurity he is only considered 11 weeks developmentally. He weighs 13lbs 7 oz and is just over 24". He is incredible. He has been holding his head up since we brought him home at 3 weeks. He also rolls over from his tummy to his back, so traditional tummy time doesn't happen for long.

B/c of his prematurity we have a baby team that we saw every week for the first month he was home and now we see them once a month. The team is made up of a physiotherapist, speech and language therapist, occupational therapist and a lactation consultant. We don't see the lactation consultant anymore as Jaxon will not breastfeed. He tried when we first brought him home, but b/c he wasn't developmentally ready he would tucker out too easily so we would have to supliment each feed with a bottle. I was pumping every 3 hours and had tons of milk, so by the time he was strong enough to nurse my milk came too fast for him, so another set back. We kept trying and I still offer him the breast once a day, sometimes he takes it, sometimes not. So I still pump every 3 - 4 hours.

He has been smiling as a response to us for about 3 weeks now and has been "talking" up a storm for about the last week.

In the beginning we had an awful time with Jaxon crying for over an hour around 5:00 each night. then I got a book on healthy sleep habits and now he's fine. For the last 3 night we have given him is night bottle at 8:30 and he has slept through the night until 5:00 or 5:30. Then he has only 3.5 oz of milk and is back asleep until 8:00. Then he is up for about an hour, sometimes 1.5 and back to sleep for 2 - 3 hours. In the afternoon he usually sleeps 3 hours.

DH has been really good. He still gets frustrated when Jaxon cries for no apparent reason, but he is figuring out what each cry means and can distinguish when he is getting over stimulated and needs to sleep, so that is helping his frustration level. his one complaint is that when he gets home from work around 5:30 Jaxon is ready for a nap, then he is only awake for about an hour to eat and then in bed for the night so daddy doesn't get to play with him. he makes up that missed time on weekends and will often take Jaxon out on a Saturday for 2 - 3 hours to give me a break.

Can't think of much else right now. Oh yeah the weight issue. I've been in my pre-pregnancy pants since 6 weeks post. I still have about 5 lbs to lose to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight and then another 25 to get to where I want to be. I swear that those last 5lbs is all in my boobs though :P

Hey ladies, I thought it would be nice to hear updates on all our babies! It's fun to talk about your babies and brag, and as of yet I don't have a lot of friends with kids (though 2 of my best friends are due a day apart in April and my sister is due in Feb!!!:D) I love looking through all your baby/kid pics on facebook and it would be nice to hear an update on how things are going with each of you! I'll start:

Katie is 7 and a half weeks old and already weighs 10 and a half pounds! She has a bigger than average head at 39cm's and her length is a bit behind the average at 21 and a quarter inches. We are ebf, she is a great eater and it is so funny how eagerly she latches when she's hungry. I showed DH yesterday how if I'm an inch or so away from her head she launches herself forward to get to the milk, lol! She makes little grunts and satisfied gulps.

So far I feel lucky with her sleeping habits. She'll usually sleep 5 sometimes 6 hours before fussing to be fed and changed, and then back to sleep for another 3 or 4 hours. There are even mornings where we go back to sleep after that for a few more hours!

Generally Katie is an easy baby, she is happy and smiling a lot of the time and easy to calm when she does get fussy. There are days or nights where it is harder to console her cause she has an upset tummy or whatever and DH usually blames me and immediately asks what I ate...:angry:. It's actually kind of annoying cause he isn't very patient yet and I mean, babies cry sometimes!!! He is very lucky Katie isn't colicky cause I'd hate to see him handle hours of crying!! Anyways enough venting...

She is getting to be soo much fun and more cute everyday. We take tons of pictures of her and video clips, her whole life so far has been documented. she is also a very strong baby. Very early on she could hold her head up and move it around, and she has very strong legs (not to mention very chubby little theighs!)she can support her weight already. I'm thinking of getting her a jolly jumper soon cause she likes to push off of surfaces with her feet.

Her 2 month apointment is next Friday(aww time goes so fast!) And she'll get her first shots:crying: As for me, I'm loving being a mommy! It is still hard to believe I have a baby, but I really enjoy beng able to nurture and cuddle my little girl and calm her down when no one else can. My baby weight came off pretty easily, I only have 3 pounds to go for pre-pregnancy weight. I'd like to lose 13 though so I'm back to my wedding day weight by Christmas. That certainly doesn't mean I'm in shape though... I feel like I lost muscle tone in my legs so I'm going to need to start working out soon.

My work starts already on Nov 3rd and I think I'll do 1-2 days a week in November and 4-5 in December. SIL is coming to stay for a few months starting Dec and she is able to watch Katie during the day. It's going to be hard for me to be away from her so much, but financially it makes sense and it only goes till the end of April then I'll have the summer home with Katie. We'll see how it goes though. I might miss her way too much...

Anyways I'd love to hear updates on all the pretty and handsome little babes.

awe yes baby sounds & faces...too cute! I call Clara my spittin' kittin because when she starts to get mad she sounds like a little kitty spitting & hissing - so funny!

she didn't sleep well last night so I am a little tired today, but am spending a lot of time lying around the past couple of days because my incision is weeping, so just want to all pressure off it...so I guess I should probably get off the computer, eh? LOL!

Hey Erin, it totally was an all girls month!! The only 2 ladies expecting boys were Brendicat who's little Jaxon came way early in June and Itawopper who is awaiting the arrival of her little man. Soooo, there were only baby girls born in August, that's hilarious!:D:D How's everyone doing btw? I am not on here very much at all since Katie takes a lot of time and I can't hold her and type at the same time... I miss sleeping for more than a few hours at a time but she is so worth it. We can't get enough of her funny faces and little grunts.

uh oh I think you were getting me confused with Diana (Cornpops) nothing new for me...just trying to make my peace with everything & however this baby enters the world...very hard, but I'm doing a lot of meditating on it - baby is well & perhaps just likes it to much in there (I had my 2nd bio-physical profile (BPP) u//s this am & all is very well with baby)

Diana, don't get discouraged - all the things you are experiencing are good signs that labour is under way...this is what I call the "grand opening" as it is your first, so be as patient as possible because it can take a little while, but take comfort that at least something is happening

Congrats to Yammer on a baby girl (one more August girl!)

Dammit... So last night my contractions were getting sort of regular at 7 or 8 minutes apart, lasting a minute and a half each. I was really in a cleaning mood and did all the laundry in the house, double checked our bags, had DH cleaning the basement. Then a little after midnight we decided we should get some rest cause I might be a while. I fell asleep easily between contractions (most of them weren't too painful, just the odd one) woke up a few time to pee, and always had a contraction in there. But then, when I woke up at 7 this morning, NOTHING!:crying: I have had 2 in the last hour, but they aren't nearly as intense as they were last night. Crossing everything that real labour starts soon... Please hurry Baby!!

Congrats Yammer on your baby girl, I can't wait to see pictures and hear your story:D

I had my Dr.'s appt this afternoon and......1 cm dilated 75% effaced!! Plus I've been getting irregular contractions since about 6 p.m. I am about to have a bubble bath to see if things keep going or if they subside. Cross your fingers that this is it!!! Oh and PLEASE do not post anything about me maybe being in labour on facebook. ;) I'm just worried I'll get a bunch more phone calls (to add the the 6 I had today already) and if it is not the real thing I will feel a little foolish:P Labour dust to all y'all!! (Just wait I'll be back in 3 hours letting you know that it has completely stopped....)

Thanks Erin B for the positive energy! Tonight I have been having more and more sharp stabbing pains in my lower abdomen that make it hard to talk or walk. I don't think they are contractions cause they are just confined to way low down, like almost in my crotch. Is this possibly what your cervix dilating feels like? Did anyone else experience these pains? I am still sporatically finding chunks in the toilet...how much mucus does a mucus plug contain?:blink: sorry totally discusting... Anyways I have an appointment tommorrow afternoon with my Dr's associate and I guess I will see if I am even dilated at all (I am secretly hoping that I will either be in labour or have had this baby by then;) )

Yammer, if you haven't had that baby yet good luck with the induction on Friday!!! We'll be thinking of you:D

Erin D, I'm sorry your lo is so comfortable in there. I am sending major labour vibes your way and praying you get to have the vbac I know you want so badly. You have been positive this whole pregnancy, don't worry if you're having a hard time now. I definalty know how it feels though I am having a hard time feeling positive with this miserable rash... Your body will know when it's ready, don't lose faith. And on the plus side your baby will just have that much more of your antibodies and nutrients from being in there extra long:)

Kristina I have no idea how you still have all that energy to make all these weekend plans with 2 active little boys. I bet their summers are so much fun with a Mom like you!! Good luck with the 'help' from your Dr. You said your cervix is killing you? What does it feel like? Is it from the 'helpful Dr' or do you think it is dilating pain?

Erin,

Try not to let it get to you (at least not yet). As the other Erin said, the baby can not stay in there forever, and you are so set on having a vbac, I am SURE that you will be able to do it!

Is it possible for you to skip the elective c-section and opt for an induction instead (only if needed of course)?

Try and stay positive and I'm sure that your baby will surprise you! My dr. made a good point, she said continue to make plans (we are heading to centre island on friday) and the baby will be sure to come out and ruin them for you lol.

I'm not convinced that the "help" will work for me! My kids tend to stay in right until their due dates (one was 12 hours before, the other was 1.5 hours after).

I am however in lots of pain tonight....my cervix is KILLING me :( I guess we will see what happens over the next 72 hours!

Erin- I hope that things turn around for you here really quickly. I know how badly you want to have a vbac- and I truly believe that you will be able to have on. I was feeling the same as you last week (mind you I wasn't over due yet) but I was miserable. You're baby can't stay in forever- s/he will have to come eventually.

YEY for loosing your mucus plug. I lost mine the week before I gave birth. It's nasty eh? :) I hope that you start getting some contractions and that labour starts for you soon! PUPPS must suck...it will be over soon and you'll have your perfect little baby...

Well I had a dr's appt this afternoon. Baby's head is as low as it can go, 2+cm already, and she "helped out" to try and get labour started (they don't want me to go over my due date after already having an almost 10lb baby).

Erin D, thanks for thinking of me! LOL-about the 70% of women with puppps having boys, thats the first thing my BIL pointed out when i sent him the wiki page about puppps. Who knows if that is a coincidense or not... Chantel from July had puppps as well and she had a baby girl. Anyways, I'm praying that I'm making progress on the labour front. I think (hope) I am losing my mucous plug in chunks. Sorry TMI!! It is not blood tinged but there has definately been chunks of something in the toilet occasionally after i pee (lol gross!:pinch:) I've been having a lot more pressure down there as well, but i know both these could still mean a week or more. I just am really ready to have this little one and get rid of this rash! Labour vibes to all you remaining August mammas, can't wait to see pics and hear your news!!

an interesting stat re: PUPP's is that 70% of women with PUPP's have boys...hmmmmmmmmmm interesting, especially with the August girl sweep so far
