Oooh, that gave me goosebumps too!

We've decided on a few names, and we have a definite favorite for each a boy and a girl. I'm set on not choosing one until we see the baby though, and know if it fits. DH doesn't quite get it though - he keeps asking how we'd know whether the baby looked like a particular name or not. I don't really know myself, but I've heard enough people say something similar that I figure we'll just know. LOL - or we won't, and we'll go with our favorite name anyway!

A couple of the PPs mentioned spelling - my mom's name is Debora, which is a relatively unusually spelling. She's had many people try to pronounce it de-BOR-a, but it's pronounced the same as Deborah (or Debra). The only reason it's spelled the way that it is, is because my grampa didn't know that it was supposed to have an H on the end!

I always try and get my mom to tell me other names they considered for me.. but apparently... the first name they thought up (my dad actually named me).. is the one they went with... ggrreeaatt.

My brother is Anthony Shane, but Mom was considering using Shawn Anthony.. I prefer Anthony Shane though... so good thing she went with that, it suits him.

Brother #2 (I'm the only girl for now): his name is Demitrios William Jacques (French Last Name Here)..lol. It definately suits him. He was named after my step-fathers long-time friend who died before the baby was born.. Demitrios is the Greek version for 'Jimmy' ..and my step-father always called his friend 'Jimmy The Greek' ..since he was, in fact Greek. lol. It's still too sad.. Jimmy (Demitrios) was a right cool guy.

Brother#3: his name is J.R. (Not Junior... the actual letters J and R) and then his last name. J.R. is what they call him, but his full name is John Ray (French Last Name Here) .. he was named after my step-father who is also John Ray.

And the next baby on the way... my mommy should be finding out soon if it's a boy or a girl. (Yes my mom is still popping out babies...it's insane.. she swore after me and Anthony, NO MORE....) 2 babies later she's preggo again and due in Sept!

my name was supposed to be Nadine but the nurses kept calling me Jennifer?? and so that's what I came home with! And there were ALWAYS a ton of Jennifer's in my class.

Aiden's name was decided 3 yrs before he was born, a name dh and I discovered we both loved while we were dating so it was fitting when we had a boy!

I was supposed to be a Jennifer, but when my parents saw me, they went with Amanda instead.

I'm glad because I grew up in a small town with 5 Jennifers in my class. LOL

Throughout my whole pregnancy we had picked Ciara for our daughter, but once I saw her, it just didn`t fit. It then took us 2 days to find and agree on Mackenzie, my poor baby girl was nameless for the first 2 days of her life lol. This baby, we picked a name, but just not telling so many people like last time (cuz the addressed cards and gifts to "Ciara") and defenitly not writting it in stone just yet, in case I pull the same thing lol

I think I was always supposed to be Sherri Lynn. My Mom said she just just liked Sherri (and neither of my parents know why it has an "i" instead of a "y") and Lynn was after my Dad's twin sister.

When I got pregnant, we were going to name a girl either Sarah Margaret, Emma Lynn or Caitlyn Margaret (Margaret is DH's Oma; the Lynn is my Aunt), and I think we were going to decide when we saw her. For boys, the only name we could come up with was Connor Michael. So... good thing that Connor looks like a Connor to us, otherwise we'd have a nameless baby!

I was supposed to be Samantha, but my mother argued until they settled on Melanie. I kind of like Samantha, not too common.

We're not pregnant yet, but we've picked Catherine for a girl, or Alexandre for a boy. Both names have to be bilingual for our family, -well they don't have to, but it would suck for your own family to mispronounce your name.

We went to the hospital with two names...one for a girl, one for a boy. They never changed once we saw our little babies!

Our first daughter's name is Veydtta (pronounced Veda like off of the movie 'My Girl'...daddy got a little tooo creative with the spelling!), if she would have been a boy, it would have been Liam.

Our second little girl's name is Emelie (we couldn't have a normally spelt name, as she would then be able to get toothbrushes and things with her name on them, while Veydtta will clearly NEVER get any such thing, so we changed up Emelie's spelling a little, too!), if she had been a boy, it would have been Jacob.

We went to the hospital with several names for boys (we also had girls names since we didn't know what we were having). Our top two were Alexander and Blake. When he came out though both of us didn't think he looked like either ... so the poor lil guy didn't have a name for 15 hours as we thought of others and went through the name book. We ended up going with the name my DH mentioned about an hour after he was born ... alas we have our Adam :)

My parents initially picked Amanda Dawn for me, but they changed their minds eventually and went with Kathryn Elizabeth.

I think I look more like a Katie than an Amanda, so I am glad they changed their minds!

Kind of the opposite but my parents ALMOST named me Robin because apparently they saw a robin (the bird) walking around on the day I was born (in December) I was like, "uh you almost named me after a really STUPID bird that forgot to migrate south!" lol!

my mom liked Amanda, but I guess I was more of an Erin, my mom liked Hailey for my sister (second child), but my dad named her Irene??? (it actually suits her!) and for the youngest my mom was sure it'd be a boy & always kids she picked an ancient Greek name Agamemnon (YIKES!) good thing third child was a girl & my sister was named Ayslin!

I was supposed to be Elizabeth Erin but when I was born my Mom decided it would be Erin Elizabeth. We'll see what happens when our LO is born...:)

my name was going to be either Star or Toni.. my parents smoked alot of "crap".. i am glad they picked Toni.. as much as i hate it..

my son was going to be Kevin.. but it just didnt fit.. his name is Alex..

Not sure if this counts but my birth name was Chantelle Janine and I am now Nicole Jolie (Dad wanted Jolie Nicole but he was out voted). I was adopted at 6 weeks.

DH was suppose to be JEnnifer as they were convinced that he was going to be a girl so his name is Jeffery Scott (yes it is spelt ery was his dad spelt it wrong on the birth certificate).

I was supposed to be Caroline (I JUST posted in the middle name thread), which I like alot better than the name they decided on (Marie-Eve).

My sister's name is Catherine so they thought Caroline was too similar to my sister's name. Booooooo !

When I was first pregnant, I was brushing my teeth and the name "Annaliese" popped into my head. Very pretty, I thought and told it to my DH who thought it was too hard to say. It also isn't the greatest with our last names because it has a lot of "s" sounds too. OK, so we looked at a lot of other names and both liked "Cora". Well, DH liked Cora, and I could live with Cora. I have a great aunt Cora so I picture an 80-year old lady when I think Cora and besides, she was supposed to be a boy, so I wasn't too concerned.

Out she came and she is definitely not a Cora. I revived Annaliese because I like the story and using the argument that he got to name our first daughter. She so looks like an Annaliese.

My parents named me Erin, because they like the name (Erin Grey was a well known actress around the time, so that's where they heard it.) But I always think it's because it's the female version of Aaron (Elvis's middle name) because my dad is a huge fan ;)

I love Irish names, and since my FH is Irish, I think we'll go with Irish names for our future kids.

My name was going to either by Ashley or Sarah .... both VERY popular names at the time ... I guess I looked like an Ashley LOL

Now my youngest brother .... my parents couldn't decide until he was 3 days old LOL ....

Our LO is due soon ... so we'll see if the names we've chosen stick!

When I had my DD I had picked the name Rae-Leigh, but my five year old nephew said he liked the name "Montana", and after saying it a few times I really liked it. So when she was born I looked at her and she looked like a Montana so we went with that one!

I was supposed to be Rebecca Jane but was named Adrea (hate my middle name so I never tell anyone;)). I just have to put a plea out there to not give your baby a hideous name just because it was your grandma/grandpa/aunt etc. Maybe come up with a nice name using parts of their name or name a park after them instead:P It's not hiding it when you use it for a middle name either, I've been required to put my middle name on several documents:(

I was speaking with my mom the other day about names and she said that I was suppose to be a Kim or Kristen and ended up Diane.....lol I was curious how many of you had your name picked then changed your mind once you saw little one?

My cousin was the same as well she picked Christian and then went with Nicholas which wasn't even on her list of names she liked!:P
