LOL thanks for the compliment! I wasn't trying to pry TMI, but without knowing the answers it's hard to help someone figure out if they could still in fact be pregnant. Sometimes, ya just gotta ask "those" questions lol ..... besides, it's making ppl smile or laugh so it's all good. Nothing is meant to offend anyone.[/quote]

that's what I use all the time and I find it to be the most accurate. I've used this site in conjunction with an ultrasound and my fertility specialist gave me the exact dates for ovulation that this calculator did.[/quote]

It started May 21st usually lasts 5 days...and my cycle runs on average every 29 days...seems to me that it's changing though so I have no idea.

Maybe i ov'd late...I dunno. Our bodies are so complex!!

Very good guess, that makes perfect sense to me! Well if you followed the directions in the box you probably did it right. The only thing I could think of, would be that you either didn't pee on it long enough or too much?! I know though, that when I got my BFP, it turned positive before the 5 seconds or however many seconds you're supposed to pee for was up.

That is really strange. I would think it would be fairly unusual at your stage, if you were pregnant, to have the test not show it by now. Perhaps you just ovulated really late this cycle for some reason? If AF doesn't show by the weekend, perhaps it would be worth calling your doctor on Monday?

Well, in some people it takes longer to get a BFP+ but my SIL was ttc and one cycle she was over 10 days late. The test kept saying negative and finally she got her period.

I don't think it's that uncommon for your cycle to be a bit off once in awhile.

Just want to say firstly - Congratulations!!

& secondly - you're totally right. I know for sure that if i find out in 15 mins or so that I am pregnant...I'll love the baby unconditionally no matter what!! I'm just nervous - which is to be expected I'm sure. I know that DH and I will do our best to raise the baby...but most importantly I know that we'll love the baby so much...more then it or anyone will ever know. it's ours...a product of us. how cool is that?? LOL! :) it's a miracle really...like I said I'm nervous.

DH will be home in about 10-15 mins so I'll be testing shortly after. will be on here with the results... till then..thanks to everyone for all the advice and encouragement. I really appreciate it!!

I just read the "harsh comments" that a PP was refering to and I have to say that if you think you're not ready for the baby and terminating and adoption are not an option to you - you are more ready than you think! You're probably just having a hard time dealing with the fact that your selfishly lazy lifestyle now has a countdown (ok fine, that last part was just in my case! LOL)

By the time you're a week late? Should be very accurate! False negatives occur sometimes if a person tests too early; false positives are very rare. Using first morning urine is a good way to ensure the most accurate results. Good luck![/quote]

Agreed. False positives (unless you're receiving some fertility treatment or have another reason for having the pregnancy hormone in your body) are pretty much unheard of.

My suggestion if you're going to test tonight (although this is just my own personal theory) is to try not to drink very much this afternoon and before you test. First morning urine is supposed to be best because it's more concentrated, but that should allow you to get a more concentrated sample tonight.[/quote]

I have a quick question about implantation bleeding. How long does it last? Reason I ask is because obviously aunt flo still hasn't arrived, but I'm still getting spotting. Very light pink...and a lot more cramps. Is this normal for the implantation bleeding? like does it only last a day or so??? or does it last longer? I think most people go through a phase where they get scared and wonder if they can raise a child. I know I did. It's a HUGE life changing event. I'm sure you will be just fine- regardless of the result that you get. You'll deal with whatever happens...and you'll do just fine! :)

My implantation bleeding lasted a few days- I actually thought that my IB was AF- because it came around the same time. It wasn't until AF never showed up...that I started getting suspicious. I didn't really get any cramping...but I think it is pretty normal. If you are in fact pregnant, your body goes through A LOT of changes really quickly...so that could account for the cramping.

Assuming you're not pregnant, you could take a regular multi-vitamin with at least 0.4 mg of folic acid instead.

OK, this may not be super reassuring, but... Some women can indeed "tell" that they're pregnant, but many women can't. Many still don't feel pregnant for several weeks after it's been confirmed.

Like MrsM said though, you're really only a couple of days late. If you're really not ready to find out, waiting another couple of days to do an HPT won't hurt anything. It may help to set your mind at ease, but it may also force you to deal with the outcome should you get a positive. (And you never know, you may just end up being a week late.)

As long as you're taking care of yourself in the meantime "just in case" (ie. no alcohol, smoking, etc.), and make sure you're getting some folic acid (which is a good idea for all women of "child-bearing" age anyway), it's really not going to matter if you test now or in a couple of days. Good luck - either way, even though it might be scary, it sounds like you can deal with the outcome.[/quote]

Folic Acid is important because it prevents neural tube defects- like spina bifida (sp?). It's actually found in a lot of foods that people eat every day. You should totally be taking a prenatal vitamin even if you aren't actively TTC.

And you usually want to test first thing in the morning because that is when your urine is most concentrated and the pregnancy hormone is easier to detect. I was chicken to take the test on my own as well, DH was outside the door waiting...:) I didn't want him to see me pee!

And you'll be a great Mom, whether it happens now or later. Not everyone knows everything about pregnancy! We are all learning here...:)
