I agree with BeeBear.

Emergencies are more important and that is why hospitals always take people in according to priority and not when they arrive at the hospital, or in this case why your friend got bumped and only emgencies c-sections were going to be performed. When I got my appendix removed, it would have been awful if the hospital staff said, "well all these people got here before you did, so you must wait even though you could possibly die while most of the others in the waiting room have non life threatening health issues. Sorry about your luck!". Hospitals have to do what is best for the majority of people and not for one.

Emergency sections are always put first. It is a little unfortunate that they didn't have all the proper supplies ready to do more then 3...but hey. I can understand being bummed out (I know I would be) but things like that happens. It's the same with inductions. You call the morning your "scheduled" for your induction and if they have a bed they let you come in (you have to stay in the hospital here once they put in the Cervadil). If there are no beds avaliable then you have to call back the next day...

I agree. Although if it was me/family of mine I would be sooo bummed out. After waiting and believing that you'd be meeting your lo that day only to have to wait..it would suck.

I agree with Brandy. I completely understand how your SIL feels as I'm scheduled for my c-section next Thursday (baby is breech). However, if someone needed to be in before me I'd be completely understanding and sympathetic. I'm in no REAL hurry for my LO to arrive ... if someone needed in before me, I would be disappointed but I would never be angry with the hospital.[/quote]

Holy sh*t Iggy, you're having your baby next week?????? How come it feels like two weeks ago that you announced you were pregnant? Congrats, I can't believe it's come up so fast!

My SIL was scheduled to have a C-Section yesterday (she had many issues trying to deliver her first child and ended up in an emergency C-section, so they just automatically scheduled one for this birth)

So they are at the hospital at 6:30 am yesterday like they are told to be, the section was scheduled for 8:00 am...

There was an emergency sectionthat came in (twins @ 34 weeks and 1 was breech)

So anyways it ended up that the steralizing equipment broke down at the hospital and they only had enough to do 3 sections ( and they were saving them for emergencies) So after waiting for over 12 hours they finally sent her home and scheduled her for next Thursday.

She has to be pregnant for another WEEK! She is so ready to have that baby and I feel so bad for her... she was ready to have a melt down when she came home last night - they were so looking forward to meeting their LO and now they have to wait even longer.

I cant believe that the hospital doesnt have any back up equipment... unbeleivable!
