I dont want to alarm you but the eye doctor they took Colin to said it COULD have been nerve, but in his case it ended up being nothing.

I would suggest taking him to an eye doctor if it is worrying you, just to get it checked out!!!

RE: Different eyes

I have two different eyes. It's almost like a lazy eye, except instead of one of my pupils being lopsided, it's my eye lid. And, just like a PP, mine is also only noticeable when I'm tired, or when I'm faking a smile... LOL!

RE: Different eyes

Ooh, I just found a message board with a couple of Japanese girls saying they have one double eyelid and one not. It seems to be quite common, at least among Japanese women! They use this to make the single lid into a double:

RE: Different eyes

I'm not sure about your son, I think he'll likely grow out of it. But I have one eye that's slightly larger than the other, not too noticeable except in some pics, and I was never teased.

RE: Different eyes

This might help you to picture it:

Usually asian eyes don't have a fold in the eyelid:

Whereas caucasian eyes do:

RE: Different eyes

I totally can't picture this and so I don't really understand. Can you post a picture?

I'm guessing if it's something you're really concerned about (yes, kids are pretty horrible to each other, but tolerance of differences seems to be much more common now than it was when I was little), there might be a surgical solution before your lo goes to school. Talk to your doctor.

Melissa

RE: Different eyes

I lived in Japan for eight years, and taught high school for two years. The mixed kids I met or taught always had eyes that "matched". Maybe your baby will grow out of it? Or maybe it's the genetic version of a lazy eye? If you're worried, it might be a nice idea to ask a doctor. Canada seems like the kind of place where doctors might know a lot about mixed kids.

I tried looking around the internet in Japanese for information on parents who have experienced this, but so far I haven't found anything. My kids (whenever I get around to having them!!) will be mixed Asian and Caucasian too, so I'm interested in the answer to this question!

Cheer up!! I'm sure your baby is just GORGEOUS!! :)

RE: Different eyes

One of my eyes is a little bit bigger than the other but honestly you can't really tell unless I'm tired (left eye).

Here's a picture.

I really don't think anyone else can notice. I mean my parents can notice it, I can notice it but it doesn't bother me at all.

RE: Different eyes

They are different shape, and different characteristics. For example...picture someone with one eye from a caucasion, and one eye from an asian.

RE: Different eyes
yoda75 (7/22/2008)
My son's eyes are different from one and another:crying: We joke about how his left eye is from dh, and his right eye is from me. As for me, I have smaller eyes (chinese), and have no folds.
SooOoOOO when my son has both eyes fully open, his eyes look completely different, and one bigger then the other. I am wondering if anyone of you ladies has had a child with 2 different eyes, but eventually evened out?

I am worried, because I don't want this to be permanent for him.
