Ok ladies..here it is.

FH and I booked the Mississauga Convention Center on April 25 2009. His parents did not like my original day because it was during lent so it had to be moved to after Easter. Ok..fine. Done. Now 2 months later AFTER the deposit is made and the church is booked they want to move it!!!!

The 25 is the same day as a HUGE banquet that is happening and they think ppl will not come to the wedding. So..in moving the wedding to the 18 of April means...I lose my end hall..I will now be between 2 other weddings AND my church ceremony will be at 2:30 instead of noon. Maybe I am over reacting...but I am pissed!!! His parents act like it is no big deal...just change it..bla bla.

But I have told ppl about the original date and now feel like an ass. His parents are paying for a bulk of the reception so my hands are sort of tied. I REALLY loved the end hall and now I feel like I am settling on a center hall. Argh...

Hello Ladies,

I just love this site alot of helpful information. Three months from today I will be a mrs.. Woo hoo.. I have a question and was hoping for some feedback, first of all how would you address the names on the envelopes for your invites, would you put Mr. & Mrs. John Doe or would you just put john & Jane Doe.. and I was wondering when you send your invites out would you still have a return address on them even though on the invite it says reply by phone or email. Any Feed back would be greatly appreciated...

Ceremony Music

I don't know what songs to use for the girls and I to walk down the asile.

I think thats the only time we will have music during the ceremony.

What did you use/ will use for the processional and recessional?

I'd love to see what everyone has picked for their ceremony readings. I'm not sure exactly what direction we want to go but I'd like to include the lyrics from "Color My World" by Chicago which was my parents weddign song. It's beautiful. I'd love to have it read and then the instrumental played while we sign the registry.

I am finishing up all my invites. My RSVP date is July 7th, for our August 2nd wedding. So, is it too early to start sending them? I have been considering sending them now only because 90% are from out of town, and it is on a long weekend. Any help?!

Friday the 13th programs

I also posted this in the inspiration section, in case it looks familiar to anyone!

My wedding is on a Friday the 13th, and i LOVE the Friday the 13th movies (one of them was the first movie me and FH ever watched together). I kind of wanted to incorporate it into the wedding a bit, but obviously without it being ridiculous, as those movies and wedding probably don't mix much! haha, so I was thinking maybe doing a program that is Friday the 13th themed a bit, but have no clue where to start, any ideas?

So, when we got married, we couldn't afford to hire a proper photographer, so DH's cousin took some pictures for us. He did a great job...but most of them are standing, posed, smile at the camera type shots.
So, for this celebration, I asked my very talented sister-in-law to take some photos of hubby and I and she was kind enough to agree. What I have in mind are those candid-looking, sweet, make you tear up kinda shots. I would love something unique, gorgeous, maybe architectural.... but am stumped on where to go to do these shots.
I hope it will be nice out... so we can go outside. But we should probably have an indoor back up as well. We won't have a ton of time, so i don't really want to run around to 3 locations.
Does anyone have any ideas? Our venue is the Oswego hotel in James Bay, so locations should be close-ish to that.

Ceremony Programs

I am looking into making ceremony programs. I am not sure how many to make though. There are 180 people invited to the wedding (which i know quite a few won't go to the church).

So my question is, is 50 programs enough for 1 per couple??

Hey all,
I've been away from the boards for a long time now.... and all of a sudden our vow renewal/AHR is next weekend, eek!!
So, I'm back in planning mode and will be posting my many questions shortly.
Okay, so here's what I have in mind for a timeline so far, do you think it'll be rushed, stressful, or okay? We are doing a wine and hors d'oeuvres stand up reception. No dancing, no cake cutting, no walk down the aisle, you get the idea :)

12-2 Lunch @ Mom’s (she has planned this for out of towners)

2 Drive to salon – get hair done (not sure what to do with hubby at this point... he's coming to lunch and to the hotel, but prob won't want to sit around and watch me get my hair done)

3.15 Drive to venue (hotel)

3.30 Check into hotel – change into dress, do makeup – organize/set up DVD, music, signature matt, menus

4-6 Sister (professional photog) takes pics of DH and I; choose location (ah, this will be my next post)

6.30 Arrive back at hotel – chill out and drink wine until guests start arriving

7 Guests start arriving - open bar (wine and beer), passed hors d'oeuvres

8/9 Vow renewal (once everyone has arrived) - very simple, standing in front of the fireplace

9-10 Photos with guests (gramma, aunts, uncles, sibings, cousins)

10-12 Mingle and celebrate

12 Afterparty - out to club

I'm a late person by nature, so I'm sure I'll end up running around like a chicken with my head cut off at the last minute.... the relax with a glass of wine whilst waiting for guests is kindof wishful thinking:P

Photographers / make up artists/stylists in Niagara on the Lake

I was wondering if anyone can give me any names of photographers, make up artists and hair stylists in the Niagara on the Lake region....I am in Toronto but we are getting married in Niagara on the Lake, and staying in a hotel the night before and will need help getting ready the day of and I don't know anybody...who can help...

Hi everyone!

First, congrats to everyone and I hope all the planning is going well!

We are getting married on 6 Jun 09. It is going to be a military wedding as DF and I are both Canadian Forces Officers. We've chosen to have the wedding at the Officer's Mess (this is the fancy hang out place for officers) at the Canadian Forces College (a school for senior officers).

Our (now) 8 month old daughter is going to be our flower girl. She will probably be walking by then so it should be cute. We chose to have the date later so she could participate in the special day.

The wedding colours are light pink, brown, and green (I needed something for DF uniform to match so that the pictures look good).

My bouquet will be Oriental Lilies Nosegay with greenery and a brown ribbon to hold it together. The bridesmaid and MOH will be wearing brown dresses. They will have corsages instead of bouquets because my MOH uses crutches to walk so she can't carry a bouquet (and I want to be fair).

We are going to make our own placecards - for the place cards we are going to tie them to the napkin with green ribbon. It will be pink cards with brown writing and we will put some sprigs of rosemary behind it to decorate. We will make our own programs too.

We are having a handfasting for the wedding ceremony. We already have the officiant and photographer. I am going to be working with the officiant to write the ceremony (although I haven't even touched that yet).

I think that's about it, I'm loving all this planning!

Can't wait to chat with you ladies!

Flowers: Are you using real or artificial?

We are getting married in october in niagara falls and are undecided as to where to have the ceremony. We are both out of province so we have to pick something long distance without seeing it. We are expecting a small wedding btwn 80-100 people. I was thinking one of those vegas style wedding chapels, but fh isnt sold on that idea (althoughg I think calvary chapel looks cute) fh suggested the hotel we are using, but its an extra 500 to set up a room + officiant costs and decor...

Any ideas out there...

Our daughter will be just shy of 10 months at wedding time, and of course she will be in the wedding ceremony(as our flower girl), but how? Doubtfully she will be able to walk by then (but then both mommy and daddy were walking at 10mos??) So who brings her down the aisle?

Bride's speech

Ok, well I am planning on doing a speech myself, and although I really love writing speeches and I think I am very good at writing them, I really can't manage to get anything down when I try. It's because I have no idea how I am going to feel that day (well an idea, but you know what I mean lol) and so I find it weird to write in the present tense about a day that hasn't happened yet. I told FH I am just going to go up there and wing it, which I am totally confident doing, and maybe I'll take some jot notes. Does this sound totally crazy? I'm not the kind of person to get tongue-tyed and I love public speaking so I'm not too worried, but will it look completely unorganized or something?
