Hey we're wedding date twins! I've decided not to go with them, we're only having 2 people in the wedding party, and everybody knows who they are - or at least will be able to figure it out!

Are you getting nervous? I'm a little nervous, hope everything turns out ok! My wedding is in NL, so I'm going there next week. FH is a bit freaked out because all the rental cars are booked! :crazy: So we'll have to rely on his family to get around. I don't mind, I'm actually looking forward to it because I've been doing all the running around by myself, here in Ottawa! I want to have people with me when I go to the photographer, flower shop, venue etc.

Anyway, I didn't mean to go on in this post, but I guess it's on my mind!:D

I just recently decided to do them. Mine aren't going to be anything fancy though, probably just b&w photocopies on stardream mettalic text weight paper with a nice font.

I don't want to spend lots of money on them when nobody keeps them. I'm only doing enough for 60% of the people, I figure people can share. I like how they introduce the wedding party, and I'm also including the processional song titles and a timeline of events.

I am goign to have a wedding of 100-125 people and I will be having programs since the wedding and reception are in two different places, Ill probably put the order of events and the map again just incase someone forgot theirs. probably like a half page thing just something small to let people know when to be where.

After talking with a few people who said that it's nice to have the programs because it lets them know who is in the bridal party and how they are related to the bride. Also, for friends of mine, who might not know quite who my parents are, it gives them an opportunity to put a name to a face.

Also, I had the time to do it, and said...why not. And to be honest, it was fun to do!

Our wedding was somewhat bilingual too, and a lot of people might not have known what was going on in the ceremony if we didn't have programmes. That said, apparently a lot of people slept through the ceremony anyway...

We will probably do them but only because our ceremony will be bilingual. Whatever readings and vows and such that will be said in swedish will be written in english so FH's family can understand and possibly also the english readings/vows translated to swedish for my family.

If it wasn't for the language I don't think we would do them, I see no point in 'introducing' the wedding party - they are part of our family (FH's brother and my SIL) so I think everyone will know who they are anyway.

I am just finishing up my programs. I made 80. The only reason I made them is because I had the time. If you don't have the time, I wouldn't worry about it.

we aren't doing one and the wedding is about 110-120 people. all the weddings i'd been to previously no one has bothered with them so i didn't want the added expense. we don't even have a detailed timeline for the wedding day either. its simply ceremony at 4, cocktail hour 530-630, dinner 7-9 and reception 9-1 period! LOL

We had ceremony & reception at the same place so we did programs. If we'd had two different locations I wouldn't have done a ceremony program.

Our programs included:
-ceremony timeline
-reception timeline
-wedding party
-parents & grandparents
-in memory/tribute to family/friends unable to attend
-a thank you to guests

Definitely don't "need" them, but I'm going to use them anyways. I decided to go with a non-traditional idea of a program and put all the necessary info on a bookmark, this way people can use them afterwards rather than toss them into the recycle bin. I felt the program would be a great place to formally recognise the people who really helped in putting the wedding together - parents, MOH, BM's, GM's, officient, etc.

I'm doing them... I think they're nice... plus we're outside, so the programs will double as fans, which will be nice!

We had programs to show the order of service. We were married in our Catholic church at a full mass and lots of our friends and family aren't Catholic. The church choir sang at our wedding so we used the program to publicly thank them (not all were invited to the reception).

I don't think you necessarily 'need' them. But, I can tell you that ours took 10 minutes to make and we printed them on heavier paper (the kind you use for nice resumes). ;) Simple, cheap and recyclable!

I'm having about 140 people and I saw no need for programs. To me it seemed like a lot of work for something that no one was going to read or keep (based on my own experience & actions)

But do you need them? No.

My brother got married recently and they had ~130 guests and they didn't have programs.

ETA - what's usually included is the names of the wedding party and the officiant, the order of service, and the names of the songs (and musicians if you're using live music). Some people put other stuff as well, but I think that's the basics :)

I'm having a small-ish wedding (prob 50-65 guests). It's going to be an outdoor civil ceremony and we are not having programs. I just didn't see the need.

Just curious to see how many of you laides are having programs? We're having a small wedding and I didn't think it necessary to have programs, but now I'm wondering if I should! What's usually included in a program anyway?
