We got picture frames and used them for table seating.
We printed off:

Mr & Mrs Jack Smith
TABLE # 10

And we put a bow matching our colours around the top.

Very inexpensive, but got two uses out of it.

ok if I remember I think that we spent $300 on candy that was for 180 people and the glasswear I only bought a few all the rest I borrowed from my MIL and some of my WP girls... you would be surprised what you can find when you put your mind to it.... all together I think that we spent about $400 but we picked some pricey candy

we did a candy buffet too... people loved it we used chinese take out boxes that were $30 for 200 and we went to the bulk bran for all of our candy and DH made the sign that was the icing on the cake

We are doing packets of Wildflower seeds. We got our favors from www.clyderobin.com Think they were $0.27 each plus $85 for the personalization. The person we delt with was very helpful and even sent a pic before completing the order. They arrived in record time and look awesome. Can't wait to give them away at the wedding.

Me and FH love them! We bought them bulk at costco- 24 for $10 and we are making our own labels (sheer white paper, printed on the computer) to put over top. Plus the fruit ones come in pink packages which match our theme!

I am sure if you called some of the places that sell favours they can do something for you. I was at a bridal show in Missisauga and a guy there had something for every price range.

We did truffles, too. Bought them from our favourite vendor at our local farmer's market and wrapped them in cellophane with a cranberry ribbon and card ourselves two days before the wedding. We chose flavours that are our faves - espresso for DH and Grand Marnier for me.

Dollar Store!

Get some cheap candy, and those little bags and voila, cheap cute favors. I got a couple of big bags or those cinnamon hearts and those bags (4 for a $1), make a tag up on the computer

Make bookmarks

Candles with a holder (Dollar Store or Walmart, get in packages and break apart)

Fishing lures for guys, golf tees, playing cards

Girls, flower bulbs in a nice (Dollar store again) bag with a little poem, you can get trees from Ministry of Natural Resources,

Just some ideas

I am not sure what your culture is, as that can play an element as well, but I went to a Pilipina/Italian fusion wedding (bride was pilipina and groom, italian) where they gave out cheese plate/knife sets (maybe out of your price range though they didn't look high end just cute) with a wine/cheese theme on them in the receiving line, and then with your escort cards, each couple got a straw coloured mesh see thru bag tied with raffia and inside there were 2 maple sugar candies in the shape of maple leaves. The escort cards were made to look like fall maple leaves in rust/mustard colours - it was very cute and very fall like (the wedding was in fall so it fit the theme - the cheese plates, not so much).

If you have time you should check out E-Bay, they have so much stuff and for great prices. We just bought our guest favors on the weekend from EBay...120 Sandalwood Fans for $120 with no shipping or handling.

There are tons of other ideas as well on there and usually if you took to the vendor they will give you a great price. Good luck!

I personally love any kind of candy but there are tons of other things you can do within your budget.

You can get personalized shot glasses for pretty good prices at www.discountmugs.com .

We just attended a wedding where the favour was a bamboo plant. It had a label attached with care instructions and a blurb about the strength of the bamboo and the strength of the couple's love. It was very nice!

I had also thought of doing magnets, but my other ideas were doing my grandmothers almond cookies, or making bars of Goats Milk Soap from scratch (going to take lessons) OR not really having favours per say. going to use alot of potted herbs as decoration (probably just left in their plastic pots and then wrapped in something (probably burlap) and then announcing that they were free for the taking if anyone wanted them. i find alot of the time you get things you dont even want or need and end up tossing it so this would give an option to people who want something but aren't forced to take things.

you can always look up the oriental trading company as well. they have a lot of different favour ideas on their website and they seem relatively inexpensive. They had really nice bookmarks with angels and I believe they were $7 for 12 of them. I am doing heart-shaped measuring spoons that I ordered from ebay (probably paid about $150 for 160 of them) but I think that was a rare find as I received extra because of an error on the sellers part. Listed for more and only sent what she wanted to sell for that price - so she had to send me the rest because it was listed for that. Good luck! I do love the hot chocolate idea....i think it would be inexpensive and practical. I wish i had done that but had already bought the spoons as my wedding is a chocolate theme.

Just wanted to let you know what we did . . . I ordered some cellophane cone bags, I am buying some hot chocolate mix in large quantities (Costco) and lots of mini-marshmallows. For 200 + people, it'll cost me about $100-$125. Our bags are just clear cellophane no design and we are tying the bags with ribbon to match our theme . . . we have also made a donation to the Children's hospital (that is the real favor, the cocoa is just a little something sweet!) ;)

We are also donating to some charities that are meaningful to us. I almost never keep any of the wedding favours I've received, and I honestly think it is a waste of money. I think something like a charity donation will make a real difference, so I think that's the best option.

We're making a donation to a few charities that mean a lot to our familie (Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetic Foundation, OSPCA) most places give you little cards to put at your tables stating that a donation has been made in lieu of guest favours. Otherwise, I just went to a wedding and they had 2hugs and 2kisses wrappedin tool with a ribbbon and a card they printed themselves "Hugs and Kisses from the MR and MRS", another friend had little bags of trail mix " The Perfect Mix". Something like that is always cute :)

I see you're getting married at a country club.. you could do golf balls? FH is a golf fanatic, and so this was a way for me to make something his. It has two linked hearts on one side, our names and our wedding date on the other... they run at 2.00 each + tax (shipping was 15 bucks)

Thanks Melissa. I had a few gals PM me recently asking for directions, so here's a cut and paste of what I sent them (don't know why the font is all screwy and can't seem to fix it):

First, I printed the words "Live", "Love", "Laugh" and "10.27.07" on thick ivory paper. Not as thick as cardstock, but heavier than regular copier paper. I used the same font as we used in our invites and programs. I then used a round paper punch to cut out the circles with the words in the middle. (My hands were so sore after doing that! )

I got a big bag of clear glass peblles at a wedding store’s warehouse sale, but you can get them at Michael’s or Wal-Mart. 1 side is flat and the other is rounded. I painted Modge Podge first on the flat side of the pebble, then attached the paper circle (with the word showing through to the other side), then painted another layer of Modge Podge on top of the paper. After letting those dry (a few hours, but I left them overnight, or even for a few days or weeks), I applied magnet pieces to the back of the pebble, again using Modge Podge. I got strips of magnets at a dollar store and just cut them into pieces small enough to cover most of the pebble, without showing on the other side.

After they were all dried, I wiped them down with a damp cloth to get rid of any Modge Podge that leaked onto the surface. I put the 4 magnets in a small watchmaker’s case with some paper shred at the bottom to keep them from shifting around.

Modge Podge is available at craft stores. Here's a picture of what the container looks like:

The only thing I’d do differently is ensure the paper is pressed firmly onto the pebble when the Modge Podge was applied. There was air bubbles on some of them, but they weren’t too noticeable.

Went to this place looking to rent casinoo games and just inside the door they sell little cute maple syrup in bottles for only $2 each or $2.50 with nice ribbon, which you could easliy do yourself. If I didnt already have mine, I would have bought them. check them out.

The other thing to remember is that favours are [b]optional[/b]. I ended up having favours at my wedding, but once when I was stressing about the budget it really helped to hear a friend say "People won't worry if there are no favours. They are there to see you married, and to have a nice meal with you. Anything else is extra".

Tealights are popular :)

In fact... let me see if I can find the promotion thing that was send to me the other day...

Ok I can't find it, so Google it is. You can buy tealights or votives and personalize them. The beauty of those is that you can get them fairly inexpensively and in a myriad of colours :)

Personally, I think the tins are adorable. My cousin did those and put various sayings about love on top.

That should be enough to get you started with ideas :)

You could even do the tags in the shape of leaves if you're going with a fall theme :)
