I'm just starting the prepare the map insert for my DIY invitations (yay!!) Does anyone have any advice/suggestions? Which programs did everyone use, and how did they turn out? Thanks! :hehe:

Hello Ladies!

I am new here at CB, and have not made many posts... as you can see, but I am getting married next Summer, Aug 08 of 09 to be exact, and i am planning on making my own Invites, place cards, menues,... EVERYTHING. I am not too sure when i should start making everything, I dont want to be pressed for time, and i have already picked my colours ( Chocolate Brown, Dusty Rose type Pink and possibly ivory ) I have an idea of how I want everything to look, but i feel like i am doing everything WAY too early... and suggestions?

Hi Everyone,

I started making my invites so I thought I would share. They are Wilton print your own on the Flirty Fleur pattern. Once I found the right printer setting they were easy to make, can't wait to finish them up!

Hey, I finally got around to putting these guys together. We bought the DIY kit from Cards by Costa in Woodbridge, they did all the printing and what not and I just had to fold them and put them together. I also added ribbon to them on the front but thats the part that im not too sure of... what do you ladies think?

I want my guestbook to be something that i'll actually look at years later so im trying to come up with a way to incorporate pictures etc. I bought a photo album that has slots for 300 4X6s and then some cardstock that Ill cut to size. What i was thinking of doing was having a piece of cardstock at each seat for the guests to fill out and then to be collected to put together in the guestbook. I was just wondering what I should have printed on it? I was thinking the typical.... name, how do you know us, words of wisdom, favourite memory etc. What else could I put on it or how else could i design it??

Since this is a bit different Ill have instructions in the wedding program....

I found a DIY project online from the HGTV website that calls for plastic doilies but it doesn't list where you can find them. I didn't even know there was such a thing....any help would be much appreciated!!!

I'm growing flowers for my centrepieces, and transplanted the seedlings into pots on the weekend. Yay! Grow my pretties, grow! The flowers are called blue mink, but I'm hoping they turn out more on the purple side.

ok so yesterday I decide to get going on these and they were harder then I anticipated! Has anyone found the paper to be too thick and causes a lot of paper jams? If not what kind of printer are you girls using?? I was using a 3 in1 deal and of worked for half of the replys then kept jamming. I loaded a few and then a bunch to see if that made a difference. I don't want to spend 200 bucks at staples to get them done!help!!

Monogram Requests

Since I had many requests for monograms lately, I thought it'd be easier to take requests in their own thread. :)

When making a request, please give.....

Names -

Date -

Colors - (be specific as possible) Please refer to the color chart. I actually suggest printing it off on the paper you tend to use and then choosing your colors from the printed version. Colors always print differently than they appear on screen. http://www.pagetutor.com/common/bgcolors1536.png

Theme - (basically if you want it to look modern, use script, if it's a christmas wedding etc) The more info you provide, the better a job I can do on your monogram. :)

If you want the high res file, you'll need to supply your email address so I can email it to you.

I've been asked what I charge to do these monograms. I work as a graphic artist, and out of the store I work in, we charge $30 per monogram. I'm doing them for free in my own time for the brides on here. If you wish, I do take donations here : www.nelliadesigns.com/donate.html

I will make up 3 different and unique monograms for you for free. Each monogram comes with one free modification– modifications are limited to font, color and placement changes. Each additional modification will incur a $3 charge per modification. This is to off-set my time and website costs.

Not a fan of Fondant icing but I like the smooth look of it? We were thinking a white chocolate but that is not working so well? Any suggestions? Has anyone done this? Any alternatives to fondant?

Finally, I am starting to enjoy the fruits of my (and my friend's .. for the invites) labour.

The invites were printed on a beautiful irridescent shimmer paper, which is hard to tell from pics. They ended up costing about $3 each, with paper, adhesive, ribbon, ink all included.

The activity books cost about $0.30 including everything (got the duotangs on sale for $0.17 each)

The tear packs cost about $0.25 each. and i may add a little pewter embellishment, which i already have (included in that price).

Coffee Favors

So we're back from our destination wedding in Cuba and are having our AHR next weekend.

I've decided to give out Cuban coffee as our favors for the AHR but am trying to think of wording for the front of it. I am planning on putting a clipart palmtree on the front but am stumped on what I want to say.......other than "Love is Brewing" thats the only thing I can find and dont really like it.

DIY Invites, where to send response cards?

Anyone dyed sand before?

I found instructions for it that say to put sand and food colouring into a ziplock bag and kneed it until the colour is consistant, and the spread it out on cookie sheets in the sun till it's dry.

Has anyone done this? Did it actually turn out? Did the sand blow away while it was drying?

I want to get sand from our actual ceremony location, and dye it myself for a sand ceremony.

Card box...but for winter

I have tried to come up with a unique card box idea for our winter wedding but haven't had much success. The wedding ceremony is outside on the ice so I had thought of making an igloo out of clear or white lego, however, plain lego has become a thing of the past and not easy to find...even at a lego store. And then I wondered if the idea could be pulled off tastefully instead of tacky...?
So anyway, just wondered if anyone knew of a unique winter wedding card box idea...???
