Seriously though, I hate how Michael's gives the run around about discounts and stuff...grrr!

If you check the seasonal children`s craft display, Michaels sells an idea book for 1.50$...inside in the back, there is a 40% off 1 item cupon & a 20% off total purchase.

You can buy as many as you want & you still come out ahead - usually save more then the cost of the magasin...I think i have like 6 summer ones at home & 3 halloween ones so far lol.

Not sure if you're still looking or not. But if you get the chance- Micheals in the USA is significantly cheaper (roughly 40% on most things) and they honor coupons from here.

alright...but it's not one of my prouder moments :blush:

we live downtown toronto - which happens to be a Michaels abyss....so we had to get my mom to drive us to suburbia whenever we needed to get stuff from michaels...

so i see in the flyer that my invitation paper is on sale for 3 for $1!!! wicked!and we make plans to go on the friday night....and it THUDERSTORMS! like thunderstorms to the point that on the news they're telling people to stay off the roads! we decide it's alright - we'll go tomorrow.

so we go saturday and the flyer has changed! no paper on sale! i start to get irritable.

my mom has worked in retail for years so she goes to the manager and strikes up some deal since it was on the news not to go out - and since we were buying a cartload of other stuff - that it was in the chicks best interest that she give us the deal. she caves - love my mommy!

so i go through piles of paper picking out the best ones....etc...about 1/2 hour later we go through the register. apparently my paper was never part of the sale since it was $1.50 per page instead of 99 cents. so the manager won't give it to me...start to get more "irritable" (i was hungry - i'm hypoglycemic and i really should have eaten before hitting michaels on a saturday!) - cashier takes pity on me and whispers that my paper actually comes in a 99 cent size!

go back - go through the new stacks of 99 cent paper and another 1/2 hour later go through the till again. NOW my paper is not part of the sale because it's shiny. IT'S THE SAME ***ING PAPER as last time but a smaller size - would it have killed the manager to mention that it was because it's shiny it's not on sale? grrrrrrrrr

start to really cry at this point. :(

go back to paper aisle to start putting paper back. mommy fights with manager. manager caves - i go get paper again.

now the CASHIER has changed and won't ring it through and we can't find the manager! we have now been in micheals for near 3 hours. we decide to wait for the manager to return from lunch so we go to the other aisles.

straw that broke the camel's back? my dear hubby is playing in the stamp aisle - where i am looking for stamps. he runs up saying he found the perfect wedding stamp. he brings me this

so i say ..."oookay...that's cute and all, but do you think it's appropriate for us to have sign language on our wedding invites when we don't even know it? it's not like we even have any deaf people in our family/life".... and he says what does deaf have to do with it? and i say "well, it's sign language for i love you" and he says "what? "

he thought it was the devil horns you make at rock concerts :doze:

he wanted devils horns on our wedding invitations.

so this effectively reduces me sobbing...and i go back to the paper aisle to hide.

so i'm sitting on the floor in the paper aisle crying and this child starts palying tag/hide an go seek/something around me...running..stepping on me..etc...since i hate children it doesn't take long for this brat to really get on my nerves!

dh comes to look for me and i lose it! i start crying and almost screaming and i yell out "if that child comes near me again i swear to god i'm going to ***ing trip it!" and i crawl onto an empty shelf to cry :crying:

at this point my mom goes and begs the cashier to just put the ***ing sale through so we can leave (going on 4 hours in michaels) and she finally finds the manager and we go through....i can't remember my PIN code so it takes a few tries :blush:

it was DISASTEROUS! i am NEVER going back to that michaels! :blush:

i have never been so mortified!

we went for lunch after and eventually it became funny...my mom said later that she knew dh was the one for me because he stuck through that...she said she would have totally ditched me there if she had been in his shoes! hahhah! good to know!

I had the same issue to - I haven't seen the flyer in awhile and when I told asked for it at the counter, they told me they don't give them out anymore. Seriously - i'm sure all of you like myself have spent half of our time and money in Michael's for our wedding, shower, etc - you think they would help out??

I have to say for glue runner and refills I found a great one at wal-mart half the price and the refill is only $3 compared to $8.

It's very lustrating so I feel all your pain !!

I signed up for Michael's 'the knack' and was sent a 40% percen tcoupon through email-came in about 2 weeks-might be worth signing up for the extra one.

Oh my gosh, that just happened to me 2 weeks ago. I saw the discount on their website but I don't have a printer at home. (stupid me forgot to print it from work). So I drove 45 minutes to the closest Michael's and picked up 2 items. Went to the cashier and she said I couldn't have the discount because I didn't have the coupon. They did not have any in store. So I dropped my two items on their counter and left.What a waste of time!!!!

i registered and have received no flyers yet..

how about this one..

I went in one day and saw something I wanted.. left my coupon at home.. went back the next day and they dropped the price $10 so which meant I couldn't use the coupon.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and I complained .. I even emailed Michaels and told them that dropping it $10 and making it an item on sale I couldn't use the 40% coupon which would have saved me more than the $10 price drop.. they said.. oh well

At our Michaels they told me they no longer mail them out, so they have the flyers at the front of the store. All you have to do is take one.

Arghh. I went yesterday to get a bunch of stuff from Michaels and all i've ever had to do before was say i dont get the flyer and they give me the coupon at the cash.

NOPE. Now i must register for the flyer and print it off!! I said maybe they should be giving a bigger discount to offset the ink i'll have to waste from my OWN printer.
