I spoke directly to the manufacterer and they said that most of the dresses ordered from there in the last little while have not been paid for. Meaning that not only have they ripped off brides and bridesmaids, but the manufacterers as well. But this only applies if your dress was ordered in the last little while.

RE: Village wedding bells and victorias bridal stole my money!

I work in Waterdown, so I hear all of the local "scuttlebutt" and I have also heard that the brides will still get their dresses. They will just be sent straight to the brides from the manufacturers. And let's just say, this comes from a very reliable source, so I don't think you ladies should worry too much!

RE: Village wedding bells and victorias bridal stole my money!

I heard about Village wedding bells closing on the news it must have been devastating for you. Get in touch with the credit card people and file with them. It might take a while but you should get something back because you have protection through them.

Go to another store that carries your manufacturer and have them check to see if your dress has been ordered. Or, if you can find the manufacturers tel no., call them yourself and see what's what.

So sorry to hear that this happened.

I had a bad experience with Village Wedding Bells for a bridesmaid dress but at least I got the dress.

RE: Village wedding bells and victorias bridal stole my money!

that sunks cailtin! were you able to get the same dress?

RE: Village wedding bells and victorias bridal stole my money!

I just went to rainbow bridal and they are really helping people affected by this, they dropped alot off the price of my dress. if any one is affected by this they should go there, they're really nice. i feel a little better though im still out a couple hundred!:)

RE: Village wedding bells and victorias bridal stole my money!

So sorry to hear this!!!! You can call, and basically get in line with many others with the possibility of getting something back in receivership. They will be wanting to square off deals with those who can pay off and take dresses in stock... because they will want to get some money in but not sure what happens with deposits because your dress would not have been ordered I would guess. Same situation for my FSIL... she has until May 09 so not such a rush but who wants to lose hundreds of dollars when paying for a wedding!!!

Village wedding bells and victorias bridal stole my money!

Hey, just a warning, this store located in waterdown and their sister store in hamilton went bankrupt 3 days after taking my 300 dollar deposit and assured me that my dress would be in store in time for my wedding! what do i do? if anyone else knows anything, could they please give me a shout?:crying:
