I would say, it doesn't matter so much WHAT you eat its HOW MUCH you eat. Make sure you aren't eating if you are full (sounds silly but we all do it!) And maybe you could think about changing the back of the dress to a corset (if it isn't already), which usually allows for a few sizes change. I'm not sure how much that would cost though or if that is an option. Good luck!

RE: It doesn't fit!!
bonnielynn (7/1/2008)
Hi,
Its costs ----but Herbal Magic. Its awesome

I also did Atkin, and I will say 2 things about it.
#1. It works. If you follow it, you will lose weight, and lose it quick
#2. BE CAREFUL!!!! I did it for 6 and a half months, dropped 75 lbs. I've never felt so great in my life...until 3 months later when i shocked my doctors b/c my gal bladder needed to come out, my cholesterol was sky high, and my liver wasn't functioning properly. I had my gal bladder removed, and since then (july 05) I've steadily put the weight back on. I haven't been able to do the diet since. I would get violently ill by the 4th day. If you're goign to do it to lose weight for your dress, and then stop and do something a little more balanced, go for it, but I would highly recommend you stop after your wedding.

RE: It doesn't fit!!

I know it sounds stupid but try taking a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinager in the morning. I thought it was impossible to wear my dress. It was at least 2, probably more like 3 sizes too small. I had 2 months to fit into it at that point. I had it let out as much as possible ($200). I think that gave me about 1.5-2 inches. I started using my elliptical once every 2cd day for 20 minutes. I cut out pop and started drinking lots of water. I didn't change my eating habits, and I still ate a fair amount of junk, as I did before. I knew I had to make simple changes, or I'd have given up. So that's what I did. I lost about 12 pounds total in 2 months and I fit into my dress much better. The alterations helped a lot....but here is two comparison pics to show you the difference. The first one is at my fitting (didn't even do up, the ties weren't long enough! The second pic was at my wedding on Saturday, exactly 8 weeks after the first pic.

RE: It doesn't fit!!

I know a lot of people say bad things about the protein diets out there (atkins, south beach etc...) but low carb is a great way to go for fast weight-loss in a healthy way. The basics are that you start out on 0g of carbs per day for a week to "jump-start" your body. This means nothing but meat for a week and many people worry about the fat content, but don't worry because what you are doing is training your body and it is hard the first couple of weeks, but gets easier fast.

I lost 50 lbs in six months on this and most came off in the first three. My neighbour is on the Atkins program and he has lost 28 lbs in a little over a month. I never felt tired or sick on this diet and in fact felt more energized. I don't recommend it for everyone because it does tend to make some people constipated. Every week you add a few carbs per day (8, 16, 24 etc...) until you find your majic number for losing slowly or maintaining. It is different for everyone, but the average person needs only to consume 60g a day for optimum health. I stick to 30 obvious and 10 "hidden" carbs per day, so I owuld eat a low-carb yogurt and a couple of slices of extremely high fiber bread as my obvious ones and count my salad dressings and fillers in convenience meats like sausages and peperoni sticks.

What happens is, your body doesn't get the carbs it is used to getting and has to look for different options of energy. Because fat is a nice easy source of energy for your body, it hits that first. Therefore your body starts to use up the fat deposits as though that was your only source of energy. The protein and vitamins that you get from meats and vegetables (added from week 2 onwards) supplement the energy and keep things functioning properly. It is the only time you will ever be encouraged to pig out on bacon and steak while watching your body slim down quite quickly.

Water, coffee, tea, and diet soda are pretty much all you are allowed to drink (no milk or sugar, but full-fat cream and sweetener are ok in the coffee and tea) because everything else has carbs. Carbs consist of starches and sugars, so anything that contains seeds (fruit), or anything that grows below-ground are out aswell as all grains. This may not be a way you would like to live long-term, but for a quick drop in weight it would be ok. If your blood type is O neg, then you are in a lot of luck as this is one of the few blood-types who thrive on this kind of diet.

Read "Eat Right for your Type" and "Charbohydrate Addicts Diet" and you can see the science behind the theory.

RE: It doesn't fit!!

When my dress would not zip up I signed up (with 3 of my best friends) for a fitness boot camp! If you want pizza...have it! Just sub for whole wheat crust, hardly any cheese, and no meat...things like that.
I also became a calorie counter. If I want a snack and it's over 150 calories...I don't eat it...period. I will find something else that will work. People say this is a 'bad' thing to do...but if you know what kind of calories your food is, its a really great tool. I have stopped looking at the fat content on things...because contrary to popular belief, fat content is a GOOD thing...as long as it's the right kind of fat. Stay away from trans-fats, and eat only minimal saturated fats.

Processed, canned and packaged foods are also something to watch out for...they tend to have more preservatives than fresh food...

and DRINK WATER!! It's very important!!

As far as exercise goes...I run, and do step class, as well as just a bit of weight training (once or twice a week). If you aren't a runner, try walking on a treadmill at a steep incline. It works the same muscles, and gives your heart a good workout too! Basically, any sort of cardio that gets your heartrate up is ideal! I go to class at the gym because it forces me to keep up the pace, and not slack, or quit early.

I have 2 and a half months till the wedding...I still need to drop another 10...I have faith :)

Good luck with your goals!!

RE: It doesn't fit!!

Water, water, water! Not only will it help you lose, but it will also keep you feeling full.
Basically, you just need to replace your unhealthy food choices with healthy ones. Instead of chips, have veggies. Instead of candy, have fruit. Try to have meals that have more protien and fibre and less carbs.

A trick that helps me is sugarfree gum. When I'm hungry and really want to snack but there is nothing healthy around, I pop in a stick of gum, and it sorta tricks me into thinking I'm eating something.
Oh, and do not eat late at night. FH stopped eating before bed and has lost a bunch of weight just from giving that up. It really does make a difference.

RE: It doesn't fit!!

There is a book you can buy called body for life. If you go to www.fitday.com, you can start your own online food and exercise diary. They have a lot of food already entered into the system, plus you can add your own if you can't find it in their list. And it's free.

Ask your trainer friend how many and what kind calories you should be eating, given how often you are going to the gym; you don't want to lose muscle, become sick or hurt yourself before the wedding.

Good luck!
