I found these sleeves I liked at Davids Bridal, but I have no idea, how I could get this done. If I went to a seamstress, would I have to provide her with the material. Anyone else had this done...
This is what i was thinking

http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_detail.jsp?stid=2949&prodgroup=201
Have you thought about wearing a jacket? This is what I am doing with mine. I bought my dress already and decided to wear a jacket last minute. This is what they look like:
The Jacket I am wearing

The dress

RE: Add sleeves onto a dress?

I am having short sleeves added to my dress. I bought a dress with very small spaghetti straps and the store is adding sleeves for me. I was told this would not be a problem. It depends where you go. I had one place tell me that they wouldn't do it because it would "ruin the look of the dress". Then the place I actually got my dress was like, "we can add a sleeve to anything you like."

Did your dress come with a shawl? We considered using that for the sleeve fabric, but then we found out the company that makes my dress makes a matching sleeve we can just add on. We also talked about using the leftover fabric after we hemmed the dress as it is too long.

If you don't have any of those options, you may have to go and try to find some fabric that matches. But if you find the right seamstress, it should not be a problem to add sleeves.

RE: Add sleeves onto a dress?

You do have to provide the material for a seamstress, but in my experience they will just go shopping for you and then send you the bill for the material.

It shouldn't be a hard thing to do. Good luck! :)

RE: Add sleeves onto a dress?

What does your dress look like?

The sleeves are pretty. They won't keep you warm though, if that's what you're going for. In my non-expert seamstress opinion, it should be fairly easy for a seamstress to add the sleeves to your dress.

Add sleeves onto a dress?

So I think i've decided against the belero, and would really like to add sleeves onto the dress.
