buying wedding bands at different places...

After many months trying to look for a similar band that I felt in love with after seeing it at Birks, I gave in and is going to buy it at Birks. The things is, my FH would like to get his band somewhere else since he could find better style at a lower price. Is it weird to buy our bands at seperate stores?

I have attached a picture of the band I want to buy. If anyone see something similar, let me know!

My FH won't be able to wear his at work, and he's not a ring guy, so he'll probably only wear it when we got out or I make him. lol!

Ok. We've discussed cut, carat & styles, but I am curious what size your FINGER is!

Since I took my e-ring in on Friday to be replated people have been noticing the tan line on my bare finger and commenting how small it is.

My ring finger measures at a 3 1/2 but I got my e-reig & w-band sized to a 3 3/4 for comfort & ease of removal. I never thought I had particularly tiny fingers until I got my finger sized!

How big is YOUR ring finger??

FH got me a thick white gold wedding band when he got me the engagement ring but I hated it. He told me to get my own. Just got the band today and I'm not sure I like it.

I am so excited I picked up our rings from the jewelers this afternoon and I love them! I wanted the band to be the same type of setting as my e-ring but to be wider so it didn't look exactly the same. Anyways, it came out perfectly and the people were great to deal with.

FH and I ordered our wedding bands at the end of january. We were told both of them would be ready on Feb.28th. They even took my engagement ring for a few weeks to match my band. I called them to get my e-ring back and they told me my ring was in Toronto! We used a private jeweler in Medicine hat, and he never even mentioned he was sending the ring out of the city. I ended up getting my ring back a week late with my w band. Everytime FH calls them they make it seem like heis being unreasonable for wanting his ring. Its already been 7 weeks past the promised date. The jeweler said he hopes its here by Friday. He doesn't even seem to care that we may have to go to our wedding in the Bahamas with no wedding ring! Has anyone had a problem like this before? Should we get a discount or something?

We had never even talked about rings.. I hardly wear/have any jewelery. He literally went to the jewelery store with a diamond and picked out a ring with the help of the sales associate and proposed that night!

I absolutely love it!! I have really teeny hands, and so he made sure to get a thin band so it looks good. The day he proposed we went and got it sized right away - both of couldn't stop looking at it b/c it was just so shiny!

I was just wondering, how long does it take to get a ring plated? I definately want to get mine done before the wedding, but I procrastinate as always lol and obviously need it back in time for the wedding! But I want to do it as late as possible so it all nice and shiny hehe. I think I will go crazy without it on my finger!

For Valentines day I got my FH a white diamond ring with a single diamond in it. He loves it and he wears it on his ring finger. (I love it cuase he's proud to be taken :)

My Jeweler called the Emergancy rooms to ease my mind on whether the rings could be cut off or not in the case of an emergancy, (love him) they said Titanium no, but Tungstan "they would get it off some how"....WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Seriously can it be cut off in the case of an emergancy? My FH is kind of clumsy, I need the peice of mind.

well it has been a battle to get FH into a ring store because he doesn't really like rings and because of his work he wont get to wear it that often. But i finally got him to go in yesterday and I honestly thought it was going to be a super long process... but we were in and out in 20 minutes tops! it was crazy! Here's what he picked....

Im East Asian and as tradition we exchanged rings for our engagement. I know that the FH gets me another ring (Christian ceremony) for the wedding so do I have to get him a ring too?

I thought I am suppose to get him another ring but my mom says I don't. How many rings did you give your FH?

Upset with Birks

I was wondering if anyone else had had any trouble with Birks? FH got me exactly what I wanted from there, an Amorique ering that is absolutely perfect. For insurance purposes we had to get it independently appraised so we did, and the price came up $4,000 less then he paid! We called the store and they were very nice, both the saleslady and manager said to go get it appraised at another store and if that number was still lower, they would reimburse us the $4,000 difference. We went to a second place, that Birks recommended, and the appraisal was again $4,000 less then paid. FH went to Birks today and spoke to the manager and now she is saying that she meant she'd pay him the $50 for the second appraisal, nothing to do with the huge markup.

When we originally talked to them they said they sell at appraisal prices, not higher. Now the manger is going to take this farther up the chain. If they are not willing to give us back the difference we are going to ask for the wedding band for free, it costs about the same as the current difference in price, and if that won't happen then I will be returning my perfect ring. $4,000 is too much to be ripped off on something from a company like that!

I was wondering if anyone else had any similar problems and how they were resolved? Thanks.

Ever since I saw this ring I cant get it out of my head. I compare every other one I look at to this.

My problem is I'm not entirely sure we will be able to afford it (we still have a year and abit togo, but money will be tight) I haven't be able to find one like it anywhere else.

Ladies, when they tell you to NOT wash your hands with your rings on, and NOT put on lotion, and NOT shower etc etc etc... please listen to them!

I left my rings on for almost 2 years straight, and they were all gummy looking! I took the e-ring to be sized, and they polished and buffed it and it looks exactly like when he gave it to me!

I'll NEVER wash or do anything like that with them on again!

Background info: My ering is a three stone (pretty high setting) with 3 channel set stones on the sides, and my band is a row of 10 channel set stones. I am in occupational therapy at school, and there have not been any restrictions about the rings we wear at school, or at most of the fieldwork placement locations. My friend went to another city to do her last placement, and the staff there were not allowed to wear rings with high settings. Is this common across Canada? Is there anyone in Winnipeg in particular who could help me out with this? I would like to solder my rings together, but if this type of situation is common, I would rather be able to take off my ering and still wear my band while I'm working. (That would be allowed because the stones don't stick up.)

my FH and I fell in love with a set of wedding bands before we got engaged but they were too expensive at peoples and so I forgot about them. I finally ordered my ring today... Fi was in a rush to get to work due to the weather so he has to go back and decide on his.

I decided on an eternity band and am so happy with it. Its gorgeous!

Now I have to wait to pick it up and decide what i want to engrave in FI's ring once he finally picks one.
