My FH proposed to me with a sapphire ring that he had custom made because he wanted me to have something unique and special. I love the ring, but I had my heart set on having a simple emerald cut diamond solitaire. Three months after he proposed I told him how I felt and together we went and picked out a modest size diamond ring that we are going to use as my wedding band. I felt horrible asking for another ring, but FH understood and now I have 2 beautiful rings that I love.

You need to tell your FH how you feel and let him know that you want another ring.

RE: No RING!!

I agree with diamondess, be honest about your desire for a great ering.......it's the one you will wear for the rest of your life and if you don't get it before the wedding, there could always be something that the money would be better spent on.

RE: No RING!!

I agree with the others...get a wedding band chock full 'o' diamonds! :D

RE: No RING!!

Don't beat yourself up, you're not a shallow just because you want a nice ring. Honestly, I would have been disappointed if FH proposed without a ring, I wouldn't have said no but I would have been p*ssed off (especially because he can afford it). But like Fascha suggested if there is no ring coming then just make sure to pick out an extra special wedding band for yourself.

RE: No RING!!

Well I have been waiting since January for the ring ... 1st we couldnt decide on the ring (he wanted me to have something different and exciting). Well we finally decided on the ring and he doesn't want to just hand it over he wants to surprise me with it. I have talked to him about the significance of the ring to a girl .......

Needless to say I won't be getting it for a while but I still love him and want to marry him and blah.

So for advice for you and me - once we get it we will have forever to wear it - so what's a few months here and there '

RIGHT? right !!!!!

RE: No RING!!

Oh man, FH was really bad at hiding it when he bought my ring, but it had to be ordered in yellow gold (my skin reacts to EVERYTHING else, plus I love yellow gold). So for the next 3 weeks I was on the edge of my seat, asking him how he was gonna propose, when he was gonna propose, and generally being a pain in the ass. I would have LOVED to be surprised, but it's all good. When I found out the ring was delayed for 5 days I literally cried! Once it came in, we went for lunch and he proposed.

Maybe your FH is just waiting to get LOTS of money to get you a really nice diamond, or maybe he already has your new ring and has a new proposal planned for you!

RE: No RING!!

I went through the same thing... so after five months of waiting you know what I did? I had a serious talk with FH about my serious womanly need for a rock :D
He and I agreed that it was time for him to swallow his pride and put the ring on a payment plan. I picked out my ring and we went in monthly and made payments on it. Eventually one day five months later, we had enough money to put a lump sum down on it and pay it off. He picked up the ring and took it home that day and asked me to marry him all over again :P

Good luck!

RE: No RING!!

Oh don't worry...he knows!

I try to be polite about it though, like "oh, all I need is this ring. But when do you think I'll be getting the other one? Just curious. Soon, you think?"

He gets the picture. :D

RE: No RING!!
fascha (4/25/2006)
Well if he's not going to fork over the $$$ for the e-ring.. just go to Cartier and pick out your GORGEOUS wedding band! lol That's what my aunt did! lol
I don't think you are greedy, I think every girl wants a ring she can show off (whether or not they admit it is another thing!) Maybe a gentle reminder is in order as your FH has said when there is more money, well the time is now and the fact that he has told you that when money was better, he would get you another says it all. Maybe when you go shopping for a wedding band, you could choose a set with both an ering and wedding band. I don't know how I would handle your situation but I don't think you are shallow as I think every girl has a vision for their ering and you are no exception. Best of luck to you!

JJF :w00t:

No RING!!

So he popped the question back in October, but we had just finished relocating and moving house and he was upgrading jobs, so money was real tight! He gave me a VERY pretty but inexpensive little diamond ring as a token until he got the new job under his belt and he could buy the one he wanted. Well, Christmas cost money, then he had to change jobs again which left a gap in the income and here it is May...AND NO RING!! I know it's not his fault..but AAAAHH!

How shallow and horrible am I!? I keep telling him it doesn't matter "as long as I'm with you, even my little ring will do!" But we all know I'm just saying that to be polite! But I'm not a horrible money grubbing person...really!!

He's pulling in good dosh now so hopefully soon I'll have one to show off..wish me luck!
