It definitely took me a whole slew of cycles before I managed to get it. All the while I was finding easier ways to insert it and learning more about my body in the process.

I've found that the easiest way is to do it while sitting on the toilet (legs open) inserting from behind. Kinda like...:P If I'm in the shower, I crouch/ squat.

I also don't insert straight in, but insert towards the left because that's where [i]my [/i]cervix is. If I get my index finger up there while I'm turning I can tell if the cup has "popped open" around my cervix or if it missed and popped open beside it.

To take it out, I crouch/ squat, again.

I've been a DC user for about 3 years now and I find it really helps for those of us with chronic yeast issues, as there are no pads or tampons to grow it in.

I found the first few cycles it was difficult to use, but I started to put it in in the shower and it made it much easier. I would also suggest cutting the stem a little so it isn't so noticeable.

Mine did leak too at the beginning until I got the hang of it. It was also awkward for the first few days, but after that, it became much easier. It's totally worth it! Keep it up!

I agree 100% with chedin's comments. I just used mine for the first time last week (I ordered it b/c of Sophiebomb's thread!) and found it really tough for the first few inserts/removals, plus I had some leakage and discomfort. But then all of a sudden I seemed to get the hang of it. For me, I found it easiest to rotate while I was putting it in, then tugging down a teeny bit to create that vacuum chedin's talking about (and that seemed to stop all leakage too). And for removal, I just sat down on the toilet and pushed a bit internally and it made it really easy to push the one side in and release the vacuum.

I was dubious after the first frustrating day, but by the end of the second day I was a convert. Definitely nowhere near as messy as I had visions of... and it'll save me tons of money / angst in the long run now that I have the hang of it!

I have to agree with Chedin. I tried my divacup for the first time last month and loved it. I found it took me a few days to get used to it but overall had no major problems with it. I also felt more comfortable wearing a pantyliner, just in case there were any leaks but I didn't have any problems with leakage. Just make sure like the other girls said that you rotate it once you've inserted the cup and that you've inserted it high enough.

This makes a small vacuum which won't allow for leaks. This usually solves the problem for me, but I usually wear a cotton pantyliner just in case. Day 3 and I gotta admit its getting better. I've taken to inserting it in the shower...less messy. A little lube also helps if I'm not in the shower. I think I was having a hard time rotating it at first...its getting easier now.

It still leaks...mostly I notice it starting, then I take it out and empty it..it always seems to be at the 15ml mark...so I guess I just need to keep on top of it.

If I can get the hang of this it will be a fabulous product for me! Even with the bit of leakage its fine...I will just wear 'back up'. Its so nice to not have to change tampons every 3 hours...and pads, eww they're disgusting...I hate the feeling of stuff trickling out. *bleh*

Well thanks all for helping me with this. I was thinking...its kind of like when I was learning to deal with my contact lenses...every little thing was such a huge deal, and now its the easiest thing to do.

Hopefully this wasn't too graphic for some folk, but hey were all women.:D

the diva cup is a menstrual cup. you can get it at health stores.

i use the keeper so i don't really know about the diva cup in terms of leakage, but i know that my keeper doesn't leak - unless it is my heaviest night and i don't empty it for more than 8 hours (ie the first night when i am sleeping) so i use a back-up cloth pad that night. but other than that it NEVER leaks for me.

oh Kruk! Sorry to hear it's not going well!

I know at least for me it got much better very quickly. The first period was kind of awkward, but I stuck with it and now it takes a few seconds to insert and remove.

So it even leaked when it was high enough and you had turned it? Was it fully expanded once it was in there - i.e. it was in it's normal shape and not bent or squished at the sides?

Other than that I am at a loss. Other than a bit of awkwardness learning how to use the thing I never had any major problems with it.

I hope it works out better for you!

I gotta be honest ladies...its a bit of a nightmare for me right now.

I know about the 2 sizes...and I went for the larger cuz it said it was for 30 and up...and I'm just about 30.

So insertion is an absolute pain in the @ss....it needs to get easier or its just not gonna cut if for me....I don't have 30 minutes to get this thing in and rotated and stuff if its going to take me that long every single time!!!

And it leaks...not a little. Just before I emptied it it soaked my underwear (good thing I'm not at work right now!So I emptied it in case it was over flowing and thats why I had leakage....no it wasn't even full.

please...tell me it gets better. I want this to work, but I'm not willing to deal with this evertime I empy and reinsert. And I wonder about the leakage...why bother if I'm still going to leak???

ok thats my rant for now...as you can tell DC and me are not having such a good day together!!!!

the leakage is probably due to not doing a rotation as someone earlier suggested. if it's not turning then try to take it out, moisten it, and re-insert. I know it's rather awkward at first until you get the hang of it.

also, there are 2 sizes. if nothing else works, contact them and say you need the bigger size (if I am not mistaken they are guarenteed).

and finally, some people have different shaped bodies and it just may nto work out. I know 2 people who it just would not work for. Give it a good try first though, because this is unusual.

i use the keeper - similar shape, different material. the only thing i can think of is that it may be sitting too low. maybe try pushing it up a little further. this may be why it is leaking and pressing on your bladder.

Last month was my first time actually!!! And I fell in love with it!

At first, it was ackward but I got the hang of it within days. If it's uncomfortable, it's because it's not inserted right. It should feel like you're wearing a tampon; like you're wearing nothing...

Can I give you a tip though?

Instructions come with the Cup; once inserted, you will need to make a full rotation to make sure it's placed right. That's the only thing I found somewhat difficult... So what I did was I rotated it AS I am inserting it. I found it much easier that way... (You might want to have some KY handy; I found water didn't do the trick.)

Also, I found the tip (for easy removal) a little too long (I found it uncomfortable) so I trimmed it. Just make sure you don't trim it too much; otherwise it will be almost impossible to remove it... Wear it as is for the first few days and you'll figure out what's comfortable for you!

ok so I'm trying out my DC for the 1st time today. I need a little help.

1. How do I know if its in the right spot?

2. Its pressing on my bladder and making me feel like I need to pee, even though I don't. How can I stop that?? Its annoying.

3. Why is it leaking?

I've read and re read the instructions and I thought I followed them...but I'm having troubles
