Spring and Autumn when seeds are out are usually worse.

Is anyone else worried about being allergic to their bouquet? I thought about silk, but everything I've found looks so fake. I would prefer real flowers but I'm worried about my allergies.

RE: Allergies!

I'm allergic to fresh cut grass, pollen, hay, rag weed, all the stuff in spring and summer.... the big problem is that I work about one shift a week in the garden centre at work so I die in there and the people at my building cut the grass once a week... fun for me... I wake up and sneeze for about 5 mins straight and then sometimes after that.... FH hates it cause I wake him up... lol too bad for him!

RE: Allergies!

one nostril is starting to act up.. i'm not liking this one bit.. lol...

RE: Allergies!

ive been starting to get mine this pass week... itchy watery eyes, sneezing... oh how fun. I usually do not get allergies until Hayfever season so i believe them that this year is going to be worst since I normally do not get allergies this time of the year. I use whatever my FH uses.. he has really bad asthma (sp?) and during allergy season he needs to take I think its claritin... but do not quote me on this. Its weird because last year I did not have ANY symptoms of allergies....

RE: Allergies!
joanigoodi (5/4/2006)
mine aren't too bad yet...........alot of headaches but not much sneezing yet.want a good laugh????? I've been taking my ventolin a lot more than usual, and I've been sneezing a lot.

The only allergy pill that has ever helped with my symptoms is Chlor-Tripolon, but not the non-drowsy version, only the original. The one big problem with Chlor-Tripolon is that it puts me to sleep. So, I only use it if I don't have to go anywhere, and I enjoy the nice nap in the afternoon. I carry an epi pen for anaphalactic reactions, but have luckily never had to use it.

RE: Allergies!

Mine haven't been too bad, I usually get nasal in the fall though, lol or in FH's dirty house!

RE: Allergies!

I have nasty seasonal allergies. Basically dust and anything green and growing. It triggers my asthma so I'm using a puffer this year and taking and anti-histamine to keep them under control. I recently had a run in with penicillin and ended up having to do around of predisone. The predisone did wonders for my allergies and my skin sensitivity. Too bad they didn't give me some every year.

RE: Allergies!

I've pretty much tried every allergy meds out there. You're funny Jules!!! I've tried all the allergy medicines out there and they don't work. I have Nasonex that the doctor prescribed for me but I don't like using it because it gives me a sore throat. I'd rather deal with it than to have a sore throat. He also prescribed Patanol eyedrops which work really well!!! The morning is the worst for me as well, where the dew is nice and fresh on the trees. But of course sitting outside in my back or front yard isn't even an option because we have a ravine lot that is filled with the dreaded Maple Trees and our neighbour has a huge one in their front yard!!!

RE: Allergies!

I have never had seasonal allergies but this week my eyes and nose are driving me crazy. I usually take claritin, but have recently switched to reactin. I have used both in the past...after a few years you become immune to the brand you are using and need to switch, so I have gone through both before.

I find they both work well, but claritin is more expensive. ALso if you are going to take allergy pills, the best time to take them is at night before you jump into bed...if you get the 24 hr ones, then the pills have had time to get into your system while you sleep, and you wake up with not too much stuffyness, and within an hour you are totally fine...all day...then take it again as stated above.

RE: Allergies!

I'm having a problem too with sneezing constantly, I find that it happens a lot in the mornings when I'm at work and then I'm fine.
