I am leaning towards going off of it still but I think I will make an appointment with a doctor to see what they think. I never really had cramps before being on the pill (I was one of the lucky ones) so I am not worried about that. I am worried about breaking out though... I had a bunch of pimples as a teenager but they slowly went away as I hit university and are not almost completely gone... I wish they would stay away for ever! haha...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts guys.

RE: Birth Control Pill

I'm sorry, I must have gotten them confused. I mean, Proactiv is a topical treatment... and no prescription is necessary. I'm no doctor, but I'm pretty sure that a topical anti-acne treatment could cause birth defects. Unlike Accutane, where doctors are even hesitant to prescribe it now due to the health concerns surrounding it, not to mention the birth defect issue. That's the first reason I went on birth control in the first place... because I was going on Accutane as a teen and my mom thought I was a little bit "rowdy and reckless" and thought I'd get prego. Pfft... I didn't even lose my virginity until I was 19... but that's a whole other story!

I just want to make sure I'm readin' ya right...

RE: Birth Control Pill

Man, when I read the beginning of this thread, I was like, awesome you and FH are going to try for kids after the wedding. We are doing the same thing, 1 year before the wedding we are going to stop being intimate. I will go off the pill at that time, so that by the time the wedding roles around I will be ready to get a baby. I stopped being on the pill last summer, since I was in a different province than FH, and it was so hard going back on the pill, to try and remember to take the pill. That would be my only concern, that you will remember to take your pill after all of this.

RE: Birth Control Pill

I also stopped about 3 months ago. The first 2 months my period was actually really light, but now it is regular and fine.

Going off it was the best thing for me to do... I had terrible headacjes for the last 3 years (going to chiropractor, docto. etc) and when I went off it they stopped! I do admit I get a few more cramps being off it the day I get it, but I dropped to 10 pounds I had gained from being on it. Everything else is normal. I would not go back on it for anything... I feel much healthier and happier now then I ever have!

Just my opinion!

RE: Birth Control Pill

I'm in support of the opposite of the other two girls. I went off it three months ago and I swear, I've never been happier! I used to have funky cramps while on the pill, I experienced a bit of water gain which has decreased since being off the pill, and my energy levels seemed to have increased since being off the pill. I love it! I feel much more natural and although my acne has flared up again on my chest and back, I plan to look into getting some Proactiv and staying off any hormonal therapy as long as I can...

Some doctors will tell you that the pill is okay for you, while others will tell you that au natural is best. Depends on the doctor. For me, I believe in wholistic therapy so FH and I practice safe sex through alternative methods and I have been much more at ease. Besides, I was really bad with taking pills every day so now all I have to worry about are my herbals and vitamins... no hormones.

RE: Birth Control Pill

I agree with jbuckle. If there's no reason for you to come off the pill then I would suggest staying on. I was on the pill for 10+ years and stopped taking it in October because my husband and I decided it is time for us to try to conceive. I swear if we weren't planning to get pregnant then I would go back on the pill in a second - my cramps each month are horrible, my b*tchy PMS attitude is worse and my breasts are so sore every month before my period that I can barely stand to be hugged. Take my advice and stay on the pill as long as you can.

RE: Birth Control Pill

My skin broke out terribly and my cramps came back with avengance! I didn't need to be on the pill at the time but I went back on it. If I were you, I would stay on the pill. There has been a lot of research done and there isn't any that shows that staying on the pill harms you - actually there is opposite research (decreases various types of cancer) so I would just stay on it. I just asked my doctor if I should go off ( I've been on it for 14 years) and he said I was fine (although, I don't smoke etc etc or have any other risk factors) Unless you are in a high risk category than you might want to consider otherwise (talk to your doctor) .. my opinon only of course....

Birth Control Pill

I have been on the pill (Aleese) for about 2.5 years now. Recently, FH and I decided to stop having sex until we are married (well it was more of a choice by me but FH has been very supportive, I'm glad that he understands). I have been continuing to take the pill over the past few months just to keep my period constant but have been thinking about going off of it.

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced any side effects of going off of the pill? and if you know of any negative effects if I decide to go back on the pill a year from now? I am worried about having my period during our wedding so if my period is irregular I was thinking I could just go back on the pill for a few months before the wedding but Im not sure about that :ermm:.

I'm really not sure what I am going to do yet, but I'm sure its more healthy for me to go off of them.

Opinions are welcome! :) Thanks!
