I (and FH) seem to like it long the best. I am fairly lazy when it comes to styling and cutting. I wear a style that is pretty wash and wear with the option of heavy styling if the occasion calls for it.

I tend to like just using a little anti-frizz syrum and that's it. Mine currently sits at the bottom of my shoulder baldes and is naturally curly (read frizzy). I have heard that if you play with your hair alot as well as wear it in a pony tail alot the hari could start to break in those places. I only go for a cut every 5 months.

RE: Hair Help

I have never had long hair, mostly because I have the same problem with dry ends. I wanted to have a little glam and a longer look for our wedding so I found these Jessica Simpson "clip in" extensions. My hair stylist colour matched my hair and it looks great. It only takes a couple of minutes to secure and you style your hair around the clip in piece. If your hair is at least as long as a short bob you could probably make it work. They aren't horribly expensive either ($109).

RE: Hair Help

I've boycotted my flat iron since Wednesday!! :D

RE: Hair Help

I need to go in for a trim... my hair is okay.. I love it LONG.. so I've been trying to grow it out.. it's the longest it's been for a while.. I have a little over a month until the wedding.. so I will have to make an appt for a trim.

As PP's mentioned, try and towel dry.. it gives your hair a break.. !

RE: Hair Help

My stylist, of all people, can't grow her hair longer then her shoulders. Most people's hair just reaches its breaking point and then there's no helping it.

I currently have a bob but used to have very long hair. People keep asking me if I'm going to grow it out for the wedding (I have just under a year and a half to go) but I tell them no. This is the length that suits me and I'm not going to go through those awkward growing out stages just for one day. I won't look like myself that day and I won't be happy with it during the entire growing out phase.

If the different conditioners that others have mentioned don't work, I say just go with what your hair naturally does. Not every bride needs to have long hair!

RE: Hair Help

I use tresemme moisturizing shamp and conditioner and i love it. for a good deep conditiong treatment try Biologe - i think its called deep moisture treatment or something. i'm sure your hairdresser will recommend something for you.

RE: Hair Help

I am sure the flat iron is mostly to blame. I have an appointment in a few weeks so I think I will cut a bit and then be gentle to my hair from now on. At least in the summer it's easier for me to give up the blow dryer and flat iron! Thanks for you advice!!

RE: Hair Help

I've had long hair for as long as I can remember. I use Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine shampoo. I also rarely use product in my hair and I always towel dry. If you use heat on your hair there's products out there that are supposed to work with heat from hair dryers and curling irons you may wanna look at that. And definately go get the dead ends cut off.

RE: Hair Help
saraht76 (5/27/2008)
I have been trying to grow my hair, especially now that I am getting married. It is longer however it looks awful. It's so dry and the ends are split. I think I should cut it now while I still have a year to grow it back. Any advice - shampoo, product that might help it!
I would definately cut off the split ends, they are not going to be saved no matter how much product you use. Once you cut the dead off it'll feel so much better and then work on keeping your new hair healthy!

As for dry hair, I use Redken's All Soft conditioner maybe 1 a week. It's amazing!

RE: Hair Help

How often do you have it trimmed? I think that when you're trying to grow it out you're supposed to have it trimmed every six weeks... (With STERN warnings to the hairdresser! :D ) Can anyone confirm?

RE: Hair Help

leave in conditioner is great - like aussie brand 10 minute miracle :)

RE: Hair Help

If it's dry and split, maybe get a trim just to get rid of the dead hair. Do you use lots of heat? Curling irons, flat iron? Those can really dry out your hair. As for products? There are so many products out there meant for dry hair, etc., however I've never tried any! Try some and see what works! :)

Hair Help

I have been trying to grow my hair, especially now that I am getting married.
