I do feel happier now and much healthier. I can sympathise though...I ams ure we ALL can! Some of us eat when we are stressed, other lose their appetites.

When I was REALLY happy, had just moved in with BF, bought a new place etc, I ballooned 2 stone. I actually joined weight watchers and slowly lost it but not everyone likes a public weigh in. The things that stuck with me are things like frozen jaffa cakes, frozen grapes etc that give you a crunchy sweetness when you crave things. Frozen yoghurt with honey is a good one too, and smoothies instead of milkshakes.

Its one of those things that really does not happen over nights, its not easy, but it is possible. THIngs like "i'll lose 4lbs by xmas" or "i'll run for 20mins non stop in 3 weeks"...it really does help keep you motivated.

The rule of thumb is the faster you lose it....the faster you put it all back on. Often because its fluid you've lost and not fat. You also don't want to lose muscle as muscle is an active body that continually burns fat and speeds up your metabolism.

Another point is....and PLEASE no-one hang me for this....but you have to have the right reasons for losing weight. If your BF/FH loves you and wants to marry you and stressing out about being a size 10 when naturally you are a size 14, is it worth it? Getting fit and healthy is a great reason, and quality of life, but wedding dresses are MADE for the female figure...CELEBRATE YOUR CURVES! The last thing you want is to look gaunt and washed out even if you are 3 sizes smaller.

Has to be for the right reasons......

xxx

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

I am at one pound a week in terms of my weight loss. It feels like it is going to take FOREVER... but I am being good and patient because if I'm not than I'll resort to my former friend: not eating.

And let's face it, starving myself is what shut off the metabolism. Remember that girls when you think "I'm not going to eat" or "I'm not going to eat much"... when you think that go and grab something quick, because I unfortunately didn't get to 285lbs by eating too much :(

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Hey There, I am new to this thread. My goal is 130, by october, I start my personal trainer this friday... Its amazing, in my first week i lost 10 lbs!! and its not unhealthy either! i loose anywhere from 2- 5 lbs a week now. and it will be more once i start working out! yay!

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Trying to add before and after pics...hope this works...

bum, tum, boobs and arms all smaller and more toned....going to keep it up!

BEFORE front and side (july)

NOWish font and side (October)

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

I wrote this in the fitness thread so thought I would copy it in here...with some added extras!

If you feel like "pop" have a flavoured sparkling water instead. The peach ones are sweet but they have no calories or fat. Also, I often put it in a champagne glass or wine glass as in my head I am drinking wine etc! SOunds daft but it works!

Freeze grapes...these are like hard boiled sweets straight from the freezer and satisfy a sweet tooth. Keep boiled eggs, carrot sticks etc in the fridge for snacking on but also allow yourself a biscuit, cake etc, just in moderation.

In July I was 148lbs (67kg) and I am jsutunder 5ft6 (167cm) I followed the below routine, jsut soemthingi made up after looking on the net etc and I am now 61kg (134lbs) I have lost 3 inches from my waist and hips. Muscle weight more than fat so go by your size and clothes...

in the last 5 months I have lost inches off my belly and toned up my arms. I am currently working overseas and don't have a gym so all my work outs are done at home.

My best advice is to buy a heart rate monitor, some dumbells, a yoga matt and a pilates ball. I did a lot of research on the net and as daft as it sounds its true, a lot of girls don't do wieghts as we are scared of bulking up but I bit the bullet and started doing dumbell weights with 10lb weights and my arms have never been so toned!

My normal workout is a 20 to 30min run or cycle then I put on some great music, pick up 2 3lb dumbelss and do boxercise and arm exerise to music. I look an idiot I am sure but it gets the blood pumping and really tones the arms! Then I take my heavier weights and do 2 reps of 10 arm curls, lifts etc push ups. then I do situps, crucnhes and lats on the pilates ball. The whole workout takes about 40 mins to an hour and you feel great afterwards. I do this 4 or 5 times a week and love it.

I am 167cm and 61kg. WOuld love to be below 60kilos but we'll see as muscle does weigh more than fat and my clothes are loose and I am more toned but my weight has only dropped by 6kg.

Also, eat 5 or 6 small meals a day and not 3 main meals. I do this and it works. I have a 2 egg omelette for b/f and it tends to stop me nibbling mid morning.

DO a search onthe net for arm exercises and stomach and you'll find some pics etc to show you what to do. Once you get over the embarrassment of the boxercise (its your home, who is going to see!!!) you'll love it! iTUnes do some great workout play lists.

Also try yoga, I do this in the evenings about 2 or 3 times a week for 20 mins to an hour. Every little helps.

Sorry for the waffle but I have tried all and sundry and this really works and wanted to share! We have all tried those faddy diets etc and at the end of the day, a sensible diet and exercise is the best thing.

I can add some before and after pictures if that would help motivate!!!???

xxx

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

I have gained so much weight. At thanksgiving I was 143 I think. On my birthday I checked my weight again I was 150. I eat when I am stressed. I drink pop constantly, have chips, chocolate, ice cream, fries, spaghetti. When I wake up I dont stop eating till I go to bed. I eat so much I feel like Im going to puke.

I dont exercise. I get tired easily when I walk up the stairs & my body hurts. I need to stop being lazy. I get tired easily. I woke up at 8:30 am and was tired by 10:30-11 am. Nexy yr I am going to join the gym with Dh.

I am not trying to make an excuse but it is hard to loose weight when I watch Dh drink pop & eat the things I shouldnt be eating. At this rate I'll make my goal in 2012. Guess working out 30-60 minutes every day is not enough, I'm going to have to up to at least 1 hour-90 minutes every day if there's any hope of getting rid of some excess me by my dress fitting at the end of November.
RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Last time I checked my weight on Thanksgiving weekend I was 143 lbs. Sounds even better when i think of it as only have 10 more to go! Although I have my final dress fitting at the end of November, so really hoping to be close by then.
I'm more motivated than I've ever been and I've been working out every day - alternating running with weight training. I even shelled out for a trainer, I see him once a week. I don;t even gripe about getting up at 6:30 am!
I'm also going to Weight Care (www.weightcare.ca) - anyone in the GTA - I HIGHLY recommend it. OHIP pays for most of the program, it only cost me $150 for 12 weeks - about the same as Weight Watchers. They measure your metabolism and give you a plan based on what your body actually burns. I'm never hungry - it's great! They only recommend max of 1-3 lbs a week, which sounds slow, but they do add up.

I WILL be hot and healthy by Jan 3!!! :D

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Teacher's college = too busy and stressed to eat! lol I'm still eating, but trying to make sure I eat well and do menu planning (otherwise none of us will eat!). I"ve gained almost 10lbs since I got engaged six months ago - the WRONG direction - I wanted to lose weight - now I have to lose twice as much - a total of 20 lbs before the wedding in January 09 : p
I attribute a lot of my weight gain to my super stressful job which had lots of of travel, long hours so working out was hard, and it drove me to drink beer! The good news is - I QUIT and last Friday was my last day. I don't start my mew job for three weeks - so I now have what I'm calling Three Weeks of me where I take my life and my health back. Starting tomorrow - one hour of exercise a day, very limited sugars and refined carbs, and cutting back on booze.

My goal is to lose 14lbs by my stagette on October 18, then the last 5 by my last dress fitting in mid-November.

I KNOW I can do it if I focus, and remember what I'm sacrificing for.
