I feel like I could fall asleep at my computer desk!
Weigh in, 171.5lbs, no real change. It's good though, because I haven't been doing so well with the eating, and I haven't been to the gym in a week.
I've started playing ball hockey on Mondays, there's a work out for you! TONS of running, and it's lots of fun! It usually keeps me motivated in the summer.

Jules, I'm a chip-craver too...especially anything to do with nachos!

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Some other helpful sites I've found:
Determines your BMI, if you are in a healthy weight range, your waist-to-height ratio, body fat percentage and lean body mass. It also tells you how much protien and calories you should be eating a day. http://www.scientificpsychic.com/fitness/diet.html

Also, this site determines how many calories you burn per activity in a set amount of time based on your current weight http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html

I just read an article too, that states that the caloric needs of 2 women of the same height who want to lose 2 lbs a week would be different if their weight is different and the heavier woman would need more calories instead of less calories than the other. The reason is that it takes more energy to carry around more weight, so you need to consume more calories than a lighter person. But as you lose weight, your caloric need drops too, so you have to constantly keep reassessing yourself. http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/calories/calorie_needs/lose_weight.htm

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Also, anyone who is looking for some help with a meal plan for weight loss might want to check this site out:
http://www.nutritiondata.com/
It is super amazing and tells you everything you could ever want to know about all sorts of foods. The best part is you can do searches like: Fruit and Fruit Juices - Better Choices for weight loss (as an example) http://www.nutritiondata.com/foods-009997034033000000000.html

It will give you a list of fruits and fruit juices and tell you the calories + all the other nutrition facts you could possibly need. There are 3 graphs - on the first one (Caloric Ratio Pyramid) you want to stay as close to the bottom of the pyramid as possible. On the second graph (Nutrient Balance Indicator) you want to light up as many bars as possible EXCEPT the yellow ones - those are the saturated fats and sodiums you want to stay away from. On the last graph (Nutritional Target Map) you want to hit as close to the top right as you can. So you can tell as a fast glance of those 3 charts if the food you picked is healthy. I am looking at apricots right now - they are REALLY good for you. Too bad I don't like them hahaha. Plus there is a ton of other info.
Then you can plan healthier meals making better food choices and just make sure the total stays in your target calorie range. With a decent and constantly-intensifying workout, the weight should come off pretty steadily! (I'm hoping). I just found this website, and also a site that lets you download mp3 versions of weekly workouts to your IPod, so I am ready to give it a go! I'm hoping to lose about 25 lbs, but I will be happy if I can fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes.

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Has anyone watched the show x-weighted? Keep at it and the weight will come off..just takes a little while. MLD and Leighann - hope that you ladies had a successfull week. As for me, well, special week so I am up 2 pounds...yee-haw!! ~sarcastic~ Also, I was rollerblading yesterday for the first time in 2 years with FH and another couple (friends of ours thank god) and I fell really hard on my right bum! Luckily, it was on a metal bridge that made a huge booming sound so everyone looked LOL but it also had a little give so it could have been worse. Needless to say, I can barely walk today and am in pain. I have no bum fat/muscle anything so that is why it hurt so much too. My weight is in the tummy region only..lucky me! Anyway, I give myself an A for effort by blading so far etc. before I fell LOL and will try again, eat well this week and walk lots as the weather is fabulous! I also have some swelling in my bum so maybe that is where the extra weight is ???? ;);)...what you are not buying that excuse?? LOL...oh well. Better luck next week and keep on track ladies!

Hugs to all,

JJF :w00t:

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Alright.. I knew that would happen since my parents keep a lot more food (ie food I like to snack on!) in their house than I do. BUT...I am excited thinking that by next weeks weigh in I could be UNDER 140!!! I weighed myself on Saturday...142.6 (145 in January) so I was glad...BUT I tried on a pair of jeans I haven't worn in a while and they don't fit!! Way too tight. So I was really depressed yesterday. FH and I went to the gym lastnight and I did a Step video at home today. I have to see people I haven't seen in a year the third week of May, so I really want those jeans to fit by then! We'll see.

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

OMG - I've been so bad these last few days/weeks!

I got back on track on Monday & was down 1lb last night (I usually do my weigh-in in the mornings [so I get a true weight] but haven't had the chance recently).

People have been telling me they can really notice a difference now, but honestly I don't see it! I do find that a lot of my clothes don't fit so I know I am losing, but it's such a slow process.

I have 68lbs to go and I have a short term goal of 10lbs by June 4th (family photo shoot). I weighed myself today, alright I will admit that I haven't been running very much this week (only three times), but still, that's horrible. Anyhow I guess I will be putting salad in all my meals, and V8 with yogurt for breakfast, lets see how that goes. Hopefully I will see a difference in the next two weeks, I'll let you all know. Yeah I should be running more, I went tonight and will be going again first thing tomorrow morning.
It's the mornig (I'm adding onto here) anyhow I'm going running in half an hour, and for breakfast I had fat free yogurt and a V8. It's not very tasty, although not bad, but I'll let you know how it's going later this week.

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

So, I went to my parent's place last night, did my taxes (nice chunk of change coming back), and I weighed myself as well. I think the scale is broken or something. I'm still 138ibs... but I was also on my period last week, so I think I'm still carrying some bloatedness (new word), from that. I was eating super healthy and walking home from work everyday, so there's no way I DIDN'T lose weight.. the joys of being a female!

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

HIT THE WALL!!!

Ladies - I am stuck at 167...I haven't really changed anything in my weight loss program but seem to not be able to loose any more. Congrat MLD on your pound, that is so great. Also, can someone tellme how much Curves is to join? There is one really close to me that I just noticed and am curious. If you put in your weight, height and target weight - it will ask you a few questions and come up with a program for you. It will give you a workout plan, including demos for the exercises and also a nutrition program. It does not cost a thing but if you click yes to receive emails - the only place that emails you is the website itself with tips on losing weight, recipes, etc (and they may send up to 5-7 a day!) But other than that, it is really informative on exercises for target areas, how to do them properly (you don't need expensive equipment either - maybe a swiss ball and towel for stretches), recipes and suggested servings based on your target goal. The great thing is it does not promote losing an unhealthy amount of weight per week. If you enter a target weight and target date to lose that weight and it works out to more than 2 pounds per week, it will ask you to select a new target date! Just thought I would mention it - there are great recipes, healthy living info and aan wesome exercise database. Just have a look see and see what it offers... www.sparkpeople.com

take care,

cliffsgal ;)

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Hey Ladies!

Happy Weekend! heehee! I cannot thank all of you enough for such wonderful encouragement. So many names to mention! Thank you all bunches! I really needed to hear such words since I have been feeling quite low.

I find that my migraines have subsided some since I have been trying to get my 8 glasses of water down (I have be able to manage maybe 4 or 5). The gatorade bottle is a great idea since it doesn't seem so much! I am drinking from 500 ml water bottles and I need about 6 of them to be at the amount I need. Not sure if anyone else heard this but I heard that you take have of your weight and that is how many ounces you need to drink daily. 1 ounce = about 30 mL (double check just in case! I am pretty sure though!) I weigh 195, so I should be drinking 92.5 ounces = about 2775 mL = 5.5 (500 mL water bottles). Just a little something I learned from a dietition site. Thought I'd share.

Today for lunch we went out to a pub in Buffalo since we were there for my nephew's basketball tourny. I was proud of myself - I ordered a veggie burger (not mixing carbs and protein), salad with basamic vinegar and I did order fries. But wait, I filled up on the salad and burger first and only left little room I had for a few fries ( I LOVE them! home made ones - no McCains!)

I LOVED all of your ideas about getting out and enjoying the weather - vitamin D yes!!! I do have rollerblades - although I am no star on them - I get use to them after awhile and can be pretty good. I wanted to try running. I may take the advice and run at least 1 minute, walk for 4 and keep alternating and increasing my running time. I would love to have a good butt!! and for once feel good about wearing a swimsuit! My friends (except one) have kick butt bodies and eat to their delight! I wish my metabolism was so good! Any tips on increasing my metabolism would be great!

I can't wait to the migraines, nausea go away and better energy replaces both! Really I can't wait. My closet has clothes that I need for work that I use for work (I teach) that I cannot get into. And it was not too long ago. It comes on so fast. I hardly knew till it was too late! Denial I guess. Mostly emotional eating. I lost both my parents within 9 months of eachother, in 1999 and 2000 and then went back to school for teaching...stressful schedule then I had the most amazing teaching position last year - amazing school, principal, staff, parents and especially STUDENTS!!! And just like that the principal got transferred for this school year and I lost the position and have been since supplying. It really hurt to not go back and then to not get accepted for a grade 4 position that was given to someone just out of teacher's college with no real experience. Great blow to the ego! All of that being said, living alone and dealing with my emotions has caused some awful eating habits but mostly a brutal non active life. I AM SO READY TO CHANGE ALL THAT! I have met the man I want to spend the rest of my life with and I could never imagine being given such a wonderful gift!! I thought it would never happen to me, that it was only in fairytales but I have learned otherwise since June 29th (our first date) last year!!! He is such a motivated person and I wish a quarter of his motivation would rub off on me. I agree that it would be great to do things together and jump start my active life!!

Thank you again all of you for reading and responding with such amazing words! I feel surrounded and not alone and that is awesome! For there is strength in numbers!!! I am here to back all of you as well. KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK!!! It's really all about little changes, one step at a time and soon it will be a ROUTINE to healthy living!!!! YES! I CANNOT WAIT!!!

Have an amazing rest of your weekend!

:Pcliffsgal

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

I just wanted to add an encouraging note to all you ladies. It's not that bad, unless you get the sodium reduced ones, the only reason I can stand this drink is because of the salt, I'm not getting rid of it :) Oh yeah with the water thing, I fill up a gatorade water bottle, you only need 3 of those for your water for the day, anyhow I have one with me all the time, and also, great way to feel full, drink a glass of water 30 minutes before you eat, the water fills you up, and you aren't so hungry. That would be for people like me who have to eat until they are full, I can't stand diets that doen't let me eat anything.

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Cliffsgal and Icy - WELCOME to you both! All the Easter eating, and I was out a lot this week, so I didn't eat properly, ugh it was terrible! I went to the gym yesterday, expecting a HUGE gain, but guess what?? I was down half a pound! I'm starting to make up for the two pounds I put back on after I got a really bad cold.
Current weight: 171.5lbs
Goal weight: 135lbs

My biggest problem is that I'm so sick of drinking water!!!!!!!! My solution: single servings of Crytal Light. They have around 10 calories per serving. I don't even use the whole package the way the instructions say. I use half a package for a 500ml bottle of water. It just adds a little flavour, so you forget that you're drinking tons and tons of water. A few of the ladies at my work have started doing this too, and we're all drinking more water now than we were before!

Anyone else have any good tips! The nice weather's here, let's get our butts outside and stay active!

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Hey Girls!

So it has been awhile. My computer is at worka nd things have been crazy busy! The weight story continues though. I was doing well with training to run a half marathon and then ...I got a crappy cold at teh beginning of the month. Was laid out on the couch for 4 1/2 days and only ate chicken noodle soup and drank water. I still am battling this stupid cough that makes it hard to run! Anyway I still havd watched my diet and tried to get moving at least once a day for 20 minutes and I am down to 156. I started at 170 so I am down 14 pounds! Yippee....I am trying to hit 145 maybe 140 if I stay away from Bryer's Vanilla ice cream...but it is slowly gowing down! Cheers to all who have stayed on the forum and encouraged all to keep going! i'll keep ya posted!

K

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Oh I had minipizzas for lunch. A minimum of 8 glasses per day (8oz each), that will help your body stay hydrated & not retain water.

Also most of the natural herbs have fibre in them (I've checked out a bunch of them) so you'll find your in the washroom much more often - be prepared for some cramping and gas (I know it sounds grose but trust me!). I had to get Gas-X because I was getting gas cramps very bad due to the natural herbs & the amount of extra fibre.

Best of luck with your loss & be sure to eat a healthy and well balanced diet!

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

I'm new to this post!!! When I started working for my company I was a nice 125 pounds ---- not skinny but I was comfortable. For the last 2 years I have weighed about 140, and I really want to get back down to AT LEAST 125 for the wedding.

I actually am currently taking HOODIA, that new herbal extract that claims to make you feel full even if you have only eaten a little bit of food. For me, it is working!! I take at least 1 or 2 pills at breakfast time, and normally another 1 or 2 around dinnertime. I find that it really helps me feel less "hungry", and I have really lost that desire to snack on foods after I have my meal. I am taking an all natural brand that is just 100% hoodia cactus leaves, and has no other ingredients. ---- I would strongly suggest it to anyone else who is looking for a natural appetite supressant!! :)

RE: Weight Loss Support Thread

Hey that's funny...I am going to weigh myself at my parents this weekend too!
