So I write her back and tell her the correct date and that we've decided No Kids. In between the time she wrote the e-mail and I responded, she went ahead and booked her flight for two days before the wedding, so she'll have to miss it. And the whole time that she's talking to my dad and e-mailing me, she was e-mailing my step-mom and talking to my other aunts stirring s**t up.

My dad tells me later that she's just really not happy that we're not inviting kids (which we can't afford to do), and that the wedding is not on the convenient day for HER. So I'm like, okay...I'm sorry you can't come, but did you really think I was going to re-arrange the wedding date because you want to go on a family vacation that you can't even afford? As we all know...the reception bookings are done a year in advance for a decent date.

It just sounds so silly, I have no idea why she would go through all that nonsense if she was just going to book her vacation regardless. So now my dad and my other aunts are angry because my uncle is going to miss it, I'm the first child and first girl born on my dad's side, so it's a big deal for them.

silly silly woman....I just shake my head when i think about it...I always find it funny when people are so self-important. I can't say I'm heart broken that she can't come, but I really wish my uncle could. Oh well....c'est la vie.

Now I'm just trying to calm my dad and aunts down before they start a war...lol

If everyone has an e-mail addy, then

this is not all that hard to rectify. Put

everyone on the exact same page at

the exact same time by doing a ma ss

mailing to all of them. Tell them all

that the wedding date was fixed ages

ago because such venues are booked

more than a year in advance. Tell

them that Auntie Pissmeoff is the one

who is at the core of this issue

because your dad already corrected

her as to the issue of the date. Tell

them that this wedding as about

you and your FH getting married and

not about the vacation plans of any

guest. Tell them that the invitations

clearly spell out that kids are not

invited because weddings cost big

bucks and you and your FH are

working to a budget. Tell them that

those who cannot attend will be

missed and that those who do attend

will be warmly welcomed.

End of story.

Oh man, sometimes you just want to smack people. Maybe this is all a good thing...now she can't come to the wedding and try to cause more trouble.

I totally agree, it is her loss and if she decides to miss it that is her issue. I hope all goes well for you and I know your day will be perfect with or without her.

Its good that you can laugh it off and not let it/her upset you! She's missing out on the wedding, and being with everyone... her loss!!!
