I wish I had known to trust my instinct.

The decision on the DJ for the reception was the only decision I wasn't 100% on and it turned out to be a bad decision.

I totally agree about the RSVP's. How hard is it to send out the pre-addressed and postage paid card in the mail on time?? I am still waiting for some and the wedding is in less than 3 weeks. and we've had the same issue with the stack of no's being almost as tall as the stack of yes's. I really don't mind cuz I wanted a smaller wedding than FH's family said was possible, but FMIL is a little ticked off. Also, what i have learned is that

a) do everything you can as early as u can cuz by the end, you don't want to do it anymore.

b) if anyone offers help. take it!!

c) just remember its about the MARRIAGE, not the WEDDING!

19 days to go.......

Ditto x10000. Only 26% of our original guest list is coming. We frantically have had to invite a bunch more people just to attempt to come closer to our guaranteed number. We may end up pulling people off of the street :(

My FH and I were going through the list to make calls to delinquent people that can't send in the damn card...when he finally came to a realization, that out of the 192 people invited, that only 129 have confirmed, and 45 have declined so far. Now he realized why I am freaking out, and am starting to get really pis$ed about people not coming. I have also heard various excuses...when we have had an 18 month engagement, and I sent STD's last August, a year ahead!!!

but hey...on the bright side, we are saving a tone of money by all these people not coming...lol ;) (i'm trying to look at the glass as half full....but the more NO's I get, the harder it is to stay positive!!!!!!!)

I wish I had known that a wedding doesn't magically make everyone one big happy family. I didn't even realise that was one of my expectations, but once the <[i]bleep[/i]> hit the fan I didn't recover until about four weeks after the wedding.

FH will not do anything even if he says he wants to be involved. Plan to do everything yourself.

I wish I had known that people wouldn't seem to care. My family hasn't shown any interest, people don't act excited, we've received two engagement cards (both from friends at church), and it just generally seems to be off everyone's radar :(

I know we're doing it for ourselves, but I'm a bit bummed about the lack of excitement.

I totally agree!

*if something is not perfect the day of, you will be the only one to notice, so don't stress about it
*the guest list will cause you so much grief, so stay strong and don't invite people that you don't want to have there
*the day will fly by in a minute, so take some time to enjoy yourself

Ohhh I like this one!

1) Shopped around more for the dress, should of not felt rushed

2) Should of thought about bridal party

3) Should of eloped...didn't know how expensive weddings are

Even though my photog was super cheap, i wished i shopped around (even though DH didn't want to pay more than like $500 for a photog) and i wished i searched for a better videographer.

Even though there are some really cool ideas out there (i.e., on this board, lol!), they aren't necessarily the right thing for my wedding. I started out with one idea, and went with that, and figured out it was totally not me and my FH. Now, doing something that is!

Would have saved a lot of time if I'd done that from the start! :P

that the only members of my family that would be bothered to come would be 3 distant cousins and 2 Aunts, that I have not see since I was 8.

that my FMIL would change her mind on everything she told me

that my fh didn't care about anything other than the vows and that I could of done what I wanted instead of trying to get FH's ideas.

that we should of went to some nice beach for 3 weeks
