It was the snottiness that bugged me. the guy that did my streaks two days earlier is aparently the owner and he came over while i was getting the trial and asked how i liked my streaks. they were all a little nicer after that. I wont go back after my wedding but for the wedding it is close, and i know she can do a good job so i am a sucker that day.

RE: hair trial
MrsMtobe (4/10/2006)
ok .. given that your wedding is only weeks away, I can understand not wanting to go elsewhere or fear not finding anyone else to do it on short notice.
However, I would call the salon and ask to speak to the manager/owner and tell her/him exactly what happened and exactly what was said and also what was left on your machine. It was inappropriate for them to be so blatantly rude. Since you dropped $200 in 2 days, you didnt deserve that treatment and that you are considering going elsewhere unless they do something to appease you and rectify the situation. If they ask .. well what would you like .. then tell them that you deserve a free hairdo the morning of your wedding or at the very least, a hefty discount on the price. If they suggest that they cant do that .. simply tell him/her "sure you can, just like I can tell each and every one of my 300 guests at my reception exactly what your shop is like and how you treat people who arrive late (accidentally)" ... now ... do something for me to rectify the situation or I will personally tell as many ppl as I can and we both know that if I tell 10 people or 300, they will turn around and tell that many more" .. so what will it be??

I bet you get a free updo on your wedding day or at least a hefty discount!
I'm taking you the next time I have a problem at ANY store!!

RE: hair trial

They had no business being so rude. You apologized - what more can you do? They should have accepted it seeing how much money you spent at their salon. I have one word for them it starts with a B. I agree with the other posters on the tip part - skimp on it - but if on your wedding day she does a great job and is not rude then you can give her one but if they play the same game that day don't give one at all.

What is it with hair stylists and doctors? - they sure don't mind making us wait for them but when we are late - they sure like to get upset about it! I always have to wait when I make an appt at the hair salon - I find they double book sometimes or take longer than usual with the previous client - hence, making me wait 15minutes or longer for my appt. I never go early - I make it there exactly on time or 5 minutes late cause I know they will never take me on time.

RE: hair trial

ok .. given that your wedding is only weeks away, I can understand not wanting to go elsewhere or fear not finding anyone else to do it on short notice.

However, I would call the salon and ask to speak to the manager/owner and tell her/him exactly what happened and exactly what was said and also what was left on your machine. My wedding is months away and already, I have lost my little brain. Don't worry about the chicks at the salon...you probably screwed up their lunch break schedule and you apologized...we are only human right?? You would think that in a salon, they might expect a bride would be a little stressed or running late on occasion. If you like their work, go through with your plans to get your hair and makeup done and then find another salon to go to...why give them more business? You don't need the stress now of trying to find another. Maybe post your story with the salon name so other brides can be aware of their customer service habits!

JJF :w00t:

RE: hair trial

Don't take it personally, they're all PMS

RE: hair trial

That isn't nice at all! You apologized and that should be okay...especially since you found them sitting around chatting and it didn't seem like there were any other clients waiting around...I say go for it...definitely "short-tip" them because of this...but you know what...I have a feeling on your wedding day they are going to treat you like a princess...:)

RE: hair trial

whoa... that's just not cool... what b*tches.. but you were late.. hmm.. it's an honest mistake, I understand that.. but.. hmm.. at least they did a good job.. I would call them, or go in, if I were you and politely tell them that although you were mistaken and late the day of your trial you don't think you deserved the continued (post-apology) way you were treated during your visit there. Be sure to mention that you are the one bringing in a whole lot of business and therefore $ on your wedding day and tell them you would appreciate an apology from them. Be sure to let them know that you wouldn't feel comfortable keeping you appointments booked there for the wedding day unless they were to apologize and assure you that your bridal party won't be treated with the same unfriendly attitude. For one you'll feel better, you won't have sunken to their immature level, and if they're smart-they'll apologize and you'll get that peace of mind. On the off chance that they are too proud to apologize, then you wouldn't want to be stuck ahving the snotty women doing your hair and makeup on the wedding day anyways. I have had my hair trial done and on the off chance that you live in the richmond hill-aurora newmarket area i could refer you to someone very good if they bail on you. Best of luck!

RE: hair trial

That is awful! you apologized - they should have accepted it and left it at that. They certainly had better not treat you that way on your wedding day - that's unacceptable. I definatly would not be leaving them a tip that day, and if they do treat you the same way, I personally would never be returning to that salon...but that's just me...

RE: hair trial

I guess you are kind of stuck because your wedding day is so close. If it were further away I would for sure be looking for another place. The last thing you need is attitude from them the day of your wedding!

I guess this is what vendor reveiws in CB are for! I would have told them, look I was just here and spent money, i am spending money today, AND i will be back to spend MORE money, BUT if you KEEP treating me the way that you are, I will never come back here again and i will tell everyone I know how you treat your customers!!!
usually that works....
OH and about the tipping, hell no they wouldn't be getting a tip from me.... you were not happy with their customer service, no need for a tip... yes you were happy with the results but not with the service and that is WHY you tip!!!

RE: hair trial

Wow......you apologized; I doubt you were the first person to ever confuse appt times! I'd be looking for a new salon for the wedding day.

RE: hair trial

OMG! You are a better person than I would be. I mean you were late you said it was your bad and apologized. But I mean you JUST spent 100 bucks there the other day and just shelled out 100 dollars more. Obvioulsy you are a repeat customer and they should have pandered to your every need and alleviated your stress about being late. Yes it sucks when a customer is late for a scheduled appointment but it is worse if they never show up or call to say they won't be there. It was an innocent simple misunderstanding. Errrr...I hate snotty places.

I hope it goes better with future appointments with them. Honestly I would not give them anymore business...but if they do a good job...whaddya do?

hair trial

My apointment was for noon today. for some reason i thought it was 1230 pm. oops. when I got there one of the very senior girls looked at me-up and down like-stuck her nose in the air and huffed when she walked away. the girl doing my hair said "you know you are late" I felt soooooooo stupid. I almost started to cry right there. they continued to make me feel bad and did not acknowledge my apologie at all. the girl doing my hair did an awesome job as did the make up trial lady. 100 dollars later and a tip i left and went back to work. When I got home i listened to their message. It was the snottiest meassage i ever heard in my life. they made it sound like i had completely ruined their day. as if. when i got there-late-most of them were just sitting around and while i was getting my make up done she was still waiting for the hair appt after mine that i aparently was making her late for. I know I was late and that was my fault but....I got my hair streaked there 2 days ago 100 dollars, todays trial was 100 dollars, the wedding day with brides maids etc will be at least 300 and they were so condesending. I gues customer service in a place like that does not mean much.
