Rehearsal Dinner?

Well we are getting married at the hall our reception is going to be held at. We have quite a few attendants and ALOT of family involved. Our rehearsal dinner might as well be a banquet of its own. Our hall is in a sort of plaza like setting, there is a swiss chalet and some other restaurants around. I was thinking maybe we would have everyone come to the house and I would make roasts and that whole thing but I would want to relax and enjoy myself the day before the wedding. We are paying for it on our own so I'm not exactly sure where is an acceptable/extremely affordable place to do it.

I'm happy and excited.
We only found out a few weeks ago that our photographer's package includes an engagement photoshoot... (yeah I know, pretty weird)
We are doing that on Sunday in Ottawa in the early evening (a month away from the wedding !!).
So we'll go eat in a nice restaurant after that, and take the Monday off ! I can't wait to spend some time with my fiance away from any wedding organization frenzy.

How easy is it to relax in front of the camera ? What did you wear for yours ?

And of course, if you'd like to post your favorite one, be my guest !

Henna/Mehndi party in Toronto

I am of east Indian descent and will be having half-brown/half-white (coconut?) wedding... as such I'm looking for a Henna artist to do my Henna party... It's going to be a few days before the actual wedding just so I'm not cramming it in last minute. (So, I'm looking for Thursday or Friday April 21 or 22)... in the Toronto area.

I've looked online but am just posting this here in case anyone has any specific recommendations. If you know anyone who does Henna, has gotten it, or if you do it yourself!

My shower was on Sunday August the 8th, 2010 at Dundurn Castle. We had the "shower" part in the Coach House. We had an afternoon tea, finger foods and played some games. After the shower, for those guests who wanted to (and who had rsvp'd to do so) got a private tour of the castle...I love it there!

The afternoon was great, I had such an amazing time...of course there were some mess ups but in the end none of it mattered!!!

Sorry but I needed to rant.....I'm getting married on Sept 25th 2010 and I'm worried about the cold weather...I wanted a nice warm summer wedding but not too hot because I didn't want my poor guest to be stuck in a tent without a/c so I chose a date that I thought would be warm but not hot. Now i'm having doubts since the current weather is 17 degrees and it will probably get colder as it reaches Sept 25th. My wedding theme colour is turquoise blue with hits of green & white flowers which is very summery but looking out window I see some trees have already started turning yellow and brown. Sigh.....Guess there is really nothing I can do huh?

Hi Ladies,

Im in a WP in August and the bride, has decided she doesnt want to do the typical clubbing night for her bachlorette. She wants it to be more intimate with just her girlfriends. She has decided that she wants to hang out by a camp fire and get drunk together...Im ALL for it!!!

Just need your ideas on how to still make it somewhat "bachlorette"...dont want to make a "p" cake since im afraid the icing will melt. Any ideas for games, snacks or anything else, about making camping "bachlorette-y"???

Im thinking the Candy man game, and I grabbed a blow up "P" from the stag shop, along with a cardboard one that has 2 nets at the bottom that we throw balls :P in

Fh and I have been engaged for just over 2 years :S We had our stag and doe a couple of weekends ago and now on Sunday it is shower time :D I cant believe how fast the past 2 years have gone by. Then next month there is my bachlorette and the rehearsal and then thats it...Wedding Day!

Im starting to get anxious and excited!!!

Anyways...Here is the thank-you (gift) that I made for my guests to take home after the shower. Let me know your thoughts :)

Stag & Doe in 10 days!!!

Im starting to get nervous about our Stag and Doe, that is in 10 days.

We have GREAT prizes (helicopter rides over the Falls, his/her limited edition sunglasses, golf passes to a nice course, Gift Certificates, Blackberry Touch, etc) Our door prize is a ONE WEEK GET-A-WAY! We have decided that games havent been doing well at the stag and does we have attended lately, so we are only going to do a golf game, toonie toss, and black jack. We have a DJ...who is going to do a karaoke as the night goes on (and the drinks start getting in people :P ).

My home town is about 45 minutes from here and FH's is even further, we are relying on co-workers and "new" friends to come to our event but im starting to get worried that we wont make $$$ on it :S I know lots of you other ladies went through this but I just needed to let it out. I guess as long as we make what we have put in...then it wont matter and will still be a fun night.

Any advice on what worked or didnt work for you???

I have been worrying a lot about this and think that with the logistics of our rehearsal that an actual rehearsal dinner is out of the question (young kids, driving across the city, and people coming from Barrie etc,)

Would it be too weird to have a pre-rehearsal rehearsal dinner the weekend before by having a BBQ at our place and giving out our thank you gifts then?

My Honeymoon Bridal Shower

Yesterday I had my bridal shower :) Now I feel the need to rave a little bit... It was the best shower ever( So I am a little bias). There were so many people who I love dearly that attended. My mom and grand ma held it for me at an old church that was turned in to a hall. It was so pretty and decorated beautifully (Pink my favorite color). They secretly registered me at a travel agency. They planned a honeymoon theme which was soo fun and original! The invites said

Come celebrate Coreen's soon-to-be marriage to Nick. After they tie-the-knot, they're honeymooning in France! Let's help her get in the mood by wearing Berets and Scarves.

Please bring a gift that Coreen and Nick can enjoy on their honeymoon. They are also registered at Marlin Travel and The Bay.

I just thought I would share I think that its so cute!

I was amazed by everyones generosity! We will have our flights and a few hotels paid for now!!! We had so much fun accompanied by great laughs and some tears of joy. On top of all that my grand ma made so much food that everyone took trays home with them. To say the least we all left with smiles on our faces. I will post pictures as soon as my FMIL sends them to us.

Hey Ladies!

Just wanted to write a little note about my awesome bridal shower today. My sister, my mom and aunt came up with a really cool idea that I totally loved. It was a wine and recipe themed shower, everyone gave me a favourite family recipe.. several from loved ones who are no longer with us, which of course made me bawl like a baby. I also got a bottle of wine from everyone... AND they all got together and bought me a mini wine fridge!!! Oh and also a really cool recipe keeper... FH and I love to cook so it is perfect!

I just thought I would share it as I know some people are looking for a "different" shower idea. :D

Boudoir Pictures for REGULAR sized woman?

So first of all, let me start by saying this was in no way meant to offend anyone who happens to be a size 0, good on you if you are, that's great, it's just that I'm not, so I'd like to hear some opinions on my situation.

My question is this -

I am a "regular" sized woman, meaning that I wear size 9-10 street clothes. I wouldn't consider myself skinny by any means, but also wouldn't say I'm overly large, just pretty normal. Anyway, lucky for me, my fiance likes me the way i am, and enjoys the curves that come from a bigger girl, so I thought doing a Boudoir Shoot and giving him the pictures would be a great wedding gift for him.

This is the problem, I've done some research, and I've really only come across some boudoir shoots that are of beautiful model-thin looking girls, and I'm thinking, "ok, is it possible that these things are only for people of a certain size?" Like i realize that I don't have the perfect body, but im sure with the right pose and the right light and all that we could come up with some good pictures, right ?

I know that there must be some "regular sized woman " out there who have done a boudoir shoot, but I just can't seem to find them.

If anyone has any opinions or pictures on this, please let me know!!

Problem with bachelor/ette

We had planned to have a bachelor/ette co-ed party rather than a stag and doe to save us the extra work. We just plan on going to dinner with everyone and than heading downtown like bar hoping or whatever.. Only we just found out that on the day we have picked, there is going to be the red bull air races going on downtown, meaning it will be extremely busy downtown that night. I am worried this may be a problem, anyone have any ideas what I can do? Everything I try to arrange just ends up blowing up.. the date we picked is the only possible day we can have it and also it is way to close to the date to change it.

we're just starting to plan the bachellorette and we're looking for a well priced limo. we need it to pick us up, bring us downtown to a restaurant, take us to a club then drive us home. i called the company that is doing our wedding and they were charging us $600, which i do not want to pay. does anyone know a well priced company? i want to pay around $400. is this ridiculous?

How much did everyone or do you plan to charge for your stag n doe tickets?

My fiances family as well as my own fam are making homemade lasagna, chicken cutlets, sausages, porketta, assorted salads( macaroni,ceasar, house salad, buns, veggies, and assorted desserts.

Is $20 dollars to much? My family will pay the $20 bucks, co workers have been asking about prices they tell me as long as there is good food they don't mind to pay.

We also have quiet the array of prizes knowing that if people are going to come they want good prizes,food and entertainment.

So I just booked my Photographer (Finally!!) the wedding is in 4 months (142 days) and that means we need to do the engagement photo's soon. they want a date for next moth which is fine. Just wanted to share that my stagette/bachelorette whatever you want to call it is tomorrow! All I know is that it is 80's themed! My MOH and I went shopping on Monday and got our outfits! SO AWESOME! I have no idea what the plan is, but I'll share all the details next week! I cant wait! After this, 3 more weeks til the WEDDING!! EEKS!
