We are busy planning our destination wedding for Punta Cana - I have heard that we will need to get our marriage cert translated from Spanish to English. How do I go about doing this? Is there anything else I need translated??? Thanks!

| If you live in Toronto, you could send your documents to a place called Dominican Republic Services Incorporated. They will translate & legalize your documents for you. Another option is to find a certified translator, have your documents translated, than send it to the Dominican Republic Embassy for legalization.

| Hi I was also in the same problem what some people do is to go and get them in mexico along with the blood work you have to get (like really!!! sorry i hate needles). Me and my soon to be husband are getting married in mexico somewhere there are so many places to choose! but any way what are travel agent suggested to me was to get married here (near Edmonton Alberta, Canada) just small like in an office or something than go and get your vows renewed in mexico than it skips all that stuff no blood work not any of that kind of stuff so that would be an idea. I am just starting to plan so if anyone has any where they would suggest to get married email me or pm me okay well thats all i have i hope i have helped Good Luck!!!!!

| Hi there, Its funny that you are asking this question as my husband was just nagging me about it the other day. If you are getting married in the Dominican Republic you will have to get your marriage certificate translated when you return if you plan on changing your last name. We were married last year in January and because I haven't changed my name we haven't bothered to get it translated. We did all of the paper work ahead of time through the dominican consulate and it was 525.00 US for the stuff you do before you go. I think our paper work was about 100.00 more than usual because my husband had been married before. I know it sounds funny but it was cheaper to pay in US funds than it was to pay in Canadian because of the exchange rate. Anyway you can find out everything you need to know at www.dominicanrepublicservices.com in the Requirement section. It has all of their fees posted. It is $115.00US or 173.00 CAN.
