Ooooh....I'd be careful too! We invited 120 guests (of which we knew that 40 would not come as they were overseas)...but of the 80 remaining, only 4 were no shows!

Hope this helps.

I'm not married yet so I can't comment on myself, but I went to 3 weddings last year of close friends.

1. Invited 330 - 230 said yes. This was a Polish/portugese wedding -- they invited every single neighbour with their kids and their kids guests -- all of their parents friends kids were invite with guests as well (you get the idea) - hence the low 'yes' rate.

2. Invited 300 - 250 said yes. This was a greek/italian wedding. They did not go as detailed wit the guest list as the above couple did (much to the chagrin of their parents) and I think that's why they had more 'yeses'.

3. Invited 150 - 140 said yes - Canadian wedding.

My point is that only you (not your parents, not your in-laws) can evaluate how many people will come.  The more "removed" they are, the higher the 'no' rate (probably). So if you have already limited the guest list to only first cousins for example, then you're more likely to have them all come.

Like the PPers said, if you have a lot from overseas, then ok, maybe invite more, but if they are all local and you don't have 100 single people that probably won't invite guests -- don't chance it.

You can't uninvite people!

We invited 178 and are hoping for 150-160. Our guest list was limited (not everyone under the sun).

Hope that helps?

July 7, 2006 was the big day!

27 declined.

Invited 213, 186 came.   The majority of the 'no' were those invited with an 'and guest' that came solo - which we knew would happen.

We invited 59 (61 including us), and had 5 not come.  Two were my mom's cousins - didn't come due to illness, but RSVPd no.  Two were frineds from Vancouver, and couldn't fly in at the last minute due to work (had already rescheduled flights once), the other was my cousin breaking up with her lazy lout of a boyfriend (happy about this one, I didn't really want him there).  So, all in all, not bad, but I didn't invite the neighbours, or people that I rarely see.  One couple surprised me, and actually came.  The wife is an author and has just published a new book and is usually overseas at book launches, so I was happy that they were able to attend.

We invited 200 and 17 declined. Just go with the amount that the hall can fit.

Married on April 15th and  it was the best day of my life.
