Hi all

I'm MOH and thinking of doing an afternoon tea shower at The Old Mill in Toronto on a Saturday or Sunday.  However, they only give you two hours.  They are not flexible on that as they have to set up the room for other functions in the evening.

What do you think- is that enough time or too rushed?  They serve the tea and desserts right at the beginning so it's not like we have to waste time ordering.  I figured in the second hour we could open gifts.  FEEDBACK PLEASE!  If you were the bride would you think this is too rushed?

So far The Old Mill is the best deal I have found and I know it's a really good afternoon tea as I've been before.

If anyone has suggestions of other neat or funky locations I could hold a shower in Toronto please let me know.   The Old Mill is charging $15.95 per person so if I go to a restaurant I would probably do appetizer platters and desserts for around the same price per person.  I'm doing it on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon but not around the lunch or dinner hour.

I looked into 7 West Cafe in Toronto but I have called THREE times now to ask them for a copy of their catering menus and they have never gotten back to me.  Not a good sign but too bad, it's a fantastic location.

Thank in advance!

Hmmm... I've never been to a tea, so I don't really know what it's like.

Having said that though, IMHO, 2 hours does seem a bit rushed. I guess you wouldn't be playing games though. When you get a bunch of women together, it could take a while to do anything!! LOL

Not sure how many people you are planning on inviting. I know there's a couple of places that do an afternoon tea. Maybe try looking into them. Unfortunately, I can't think of what they are...

7 West Cafe sounds good. Too bad about the menu though!

Unless you are getting a group gift, two hours is too rushed. Fmil had a little tea party for me and fsil. Two hours was perfect for tea, talk and little sandwiches, even to cut the cake BUT we each got a group gift and card.

On the weekend, I spent about 1h30 opening gifts. We had already been there for about an hour and and I really wanted to socialize again after the gifts (even though some people left).

I'd try to find something longer unless it's a group gift (even so - you don't organize that yourself... so I'd get more time)

I'm partial to the Old Mill because that is where we were married and I love it there, but I also think 2 hours might be a bit rushed....I think it can be done, but you would have to basically arrive and have the bride start opening gifts right away....
