hi cber's- i'm a newbie. i joined awhile ago but haven't really been around. i'm getting married september 23rd 2006. i've had a bad "wedding stuff" week and i'm feeling a bit down. i'm pumped about my wedding and i love everyone involved. it just gets frustrating sometimes. everyone has a different vision of what our wedding day is going to be like. they are just trying to help and make our day special but sometimes i just want to yell "do you know me at all????"  it's actually pretty funny when you think about the ideas people come up with for your day!  if i don't like the idea i do tell them cuz bottom line is i have to do what i want, but sometimes i feel so guilty about it. i'm afraid these people who are only trying to help may end up feeling unappreciated and thats not the case at all!

anyway i just wanted to introduce myself cuz i have a feeling i'll be coming on to complain lots!

oh ya i can totally relate...

my mom and my step-mom have different opinions... my mom has this grand idea of a wedding but she doesnt want to chip ($) in at all (which i dont care because if she doesnt put any money into it that means she really cannot have it her way!) She has this idea for the groom and groomsmen that i do not like... and about the flowers....

my step-mom on the other hand is much more on the lines of my vision so i can relate better to her ideas.

Its hard because i love my mom SO much but she really doesn't know me as much as my step-mom does since my mom really wasn't around me in my teenage years ( i think this is the period in your life where you gain your own identity with your own sense of style!) My mom and I have different styles, she is more of the girly girl while I am more of the relaxed, down to earth style.

I value both of their opinons but its amazing that my own mother doesn't really get my vision!!! My dad doesnt really say much same with my step-dad... my sister just keeps her mouth shut but offers some suggestions. FILs haven't really put their opinion in yet, but we haven't really discussed much with them since they live 2 hours away from us while my mom lives 30 minutes away, my sister is 20 minutes away and my dad/step-mom is 1 hour away. Plus FILs do not really want to be a part of the planning, they just told me "tell me when and where and we will be there!" I do want their opinion tho since it is their only child that i am marrying.... maybe they will have more of an opinion once the date gets closer!

desbride- sounds like you and i kind of have the same problem! except i'm the girly girl and my mom is the relaxed casual one. i LOVE my mom too i think she just needs to finally accept that her daughter is a girly girl!
