| Since my date is not until next year, I was wondering when everyone started booking/buying things So.......How far in advance did you.... Book the church Book the venue Book the photogrpaher/videographer Buy your dress Buy the bridesmaid dresses Buy/Rent the suits/tuxedos But your favors Book the dj Book the florist Buy your cake Book the decorator Book the musicians Book the honeymoon I can't think of anymore at the moment but it will be interesting to see the answers!

My wedding isnt until next august, but the hall is booked because it was pretty much booked all up!!!! I had to take thei last availabledate, which falls on a long weekend here in bc (BC day)

| We are getting married on May 5, 2007 - almost a year now!!!! We are pretty on track because we are doing a DW. Other things to think about further out - invitations/STDs, registry, rehearsal dinner... Book the church - on the beach but booked the officiant and started marriage lasses in April Book the venue - March Book the photogrpaher/videographer - April Buy your dress Buy the bridesmaid dresses Buy/Rent the suits/tuxedos But your favors - decided, but not purchased Book the dj - no DJ Book the florist - March Buy your cake - no cake - dessert table instead Book the decorator Book the musicians - working on it now Book the honeymoon - FH is doing it - its a surprise!!

Book the church - right after we got engaged (13 months) Book the venue - as above - this secured our date Book the photogrpaher/videographer - 10 months to go Buy your dress - 9 months to go Buy the bridesmaid dresses - having them made -- got the dressmaker secured and material bought with 7 months to go Buy/Rent the suits/tuxedos - under 2 months But your favors- decided to do donations Book the dj - 5 months Book the florist - 7 months Buy your cake - not having one Book the decorator - as above Book the musicians - as above Book the honeymoon - under 2 months I can't think of anymore at the moment but it will be interesting to see the answers! That's it for me!! Oh yeah, the limo was secured with 10 months to go and the guy told me that I just made the mark -- most are fully booked with 10 months to go!! Kinda scared me!!
July 7, 2006 was the big day! 138 - came and enjoyed the party! President of the Crazy-MIL-Club.

| I am not getting married till May 26, 2007. This is what I have done: Book the church - done back in August when we got engaged Book the venue - done in August also since dates go fast Book the photogrpaher/videographer - booked in September so we could get our engagement pictures done. I wanted them around the time we got engaged. Buy your dress - In the process of finding one now, looking like crazy Buy the bridesmaid dresses - Picked out, need to get two more girls measured, they might be discontinued at the end of the summer so they have to be ordered by August. Buy/Rent the suits/tuxedos - no thought about that yet But your favors - Picked out but not ordered Book the dj - we booked our dj in March as we wanted to make sure to get our first choice of company and dj Book the florist - booked last week, she is great! Buy your cake - Will start looking in the next few months Book the decorator - not done Book the musicians - we are having a live band as well as a dj and we have to look into the band soon Book the honeymoon - we know where we are going just haven't booked it as yet

Our wedding is August 25 2007.
Book the church - April 2006
Book the venue - February 2006 - they were already getting all booked up
Book the photogrpaher/videographer - Looking into it now
Buy your dress - probably around September
Buy the bridesmaid dresses - Around September/October also
Buy/Rent the suits/tuxedos
Buy your favors - Already have part of this done
Book the dj - Last week - they were also getting booked up already
Book the florist
Buy your cake
Book the decorator
Book the musicians
Book the honeymoon - Starting to look now
Hope this helps. I also am not positive when to do stuff so I'm just kinda going with the flow.

Book the church-No church, j of p at the venue site Book the venue-About 1 week after we decided on our date Book the photogrpaher/videographer-None Buy your dress-About 1 month ago, now have to go for alterations Buy the bridesmaid dresses-None, they know the theme colours and get to pick whatever they want Buy/Rent the suits/tuxedos-Not yet But your favors-We are getting handmade chocolates so we are placing the order with the lady and she is making them and couriering them closer to the time. Book the dj-Not yet, but soon (I hope) Book the florist-I am making all the bouquets myself out of silk flowers bought in bulk, I bought the flowers 4 months ago Buy your cake-Not sure if we are buying one, a talent BM is making one or we are just using the ones given for dessert by the cater Book the decorator-Doing my own Book the musicians-None Book the honeymoon-Probably just going to spend a week in Montreal. Ordered invitations-One week after we booked our venue  I can't think of anymore at the moment but it will be interesting to see the answers!

OK we were engaged in Dec. 2004 and we're getting married in July 2006 but we really started planning and booking in about feb.
Book the church - Feb. 2005 (17months ahead) - do this EARLY
Book the venue- Feb. (17 months ahead)EARLY
Book the photogrpaher/videographer - March ( 16 months ahead) EARLY - many were booked already at this time
Buy your dress Dec. 2005 - 7 months
Buy the bridesmaid dresses - Jan 2006 6 months ( I wouldn't wait much longer than this)
Buy/Rent the suits/tuxedos - April 2006- 3 months
But your favors -to do
Book the dj - March 2005- (17 months ahead)
Book the florist - March 2005 (17 months ahead) - this florist is amazing and I really wanted to make sure I got her. I know that seems excessively early but it was important for me.
Buy your cake - March 2005 - being done by the caterer
Book the decorator - March 2005
Book the musicians -Feb. 2006
Book the honeymoon - March 2006

| We had our venue booked a year and 2 months ahead of time. It was the last date our venue had available this year. So we had to change our original date as we fell in love with the venue. As for the photographers we looked a year in advance and everyone was booked! It was crazy! Fh's dad has a friend who is number one in North America and has won a bunch of awards for his work. We booked him in November of last year. Dj's are friends of ours. I found my dress first day looking. That was a month after we were engaged. B/M Dresses we found January of this year. Tux are going to be done next month. We looked around for pricing first. Favors I started buying in December last year. Got the rest of it last month. Florist and cake were done in October last year. Honeymoon we booked in March-April. I thought I was planning too soon but it certainly paid off! My brother is getting married this June and they are still in the middle of planning! They are totally stressed out cuz they didn't plan early. So I would suggest booking your venue and ceremony location first then the photographer! Those two were the most stressful for me.
