I'm fairly sure that I'm going to get somewhere between 4-6 6' high potted cedar trees (live) for use in my reception decorations. I'm aiming for a mountain/outdoor theme, and am trying to figure out how to decorate them.
I'm also going to do at least 1 mini tree on each table, possibly incorporated into the rock stream/fountain I'd like to build. So ideas on how to decorate the big ones and the little ones would be appreciated. I'm having a really hard time finding any pictures, in any colour, can anyone help?
The big trees are kinda like this (they come in a pot, but we will be changing it as it's just one of those generic black "greenhouse" pots):

And the little ones will be something like this (pots to be determined):

I can go tonight possibly, or tomorrow and take pictures of the actual big trees, but these are pretty close for ideas.
Our colours are red, white & gold, but I can visualize, so anything that you may be able to find, in any colour, would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Melissa

Thanks for the thought, but I don't really think that birds are really very "wedding"-ish, if that makes any sense. We could possibly do a couple of "love birds" or doves, which typically are wedding symbols, but I don't think as the main decoration on them.
Anything else?

| Decorating an evergreen tree immediately brings to mind Christmas, lol...sorry. Maybe tulle? I don't know, it might look like Christmas garland. You can get it in all different colours though. Mini-lights would look pretty too...again, might look Christmasy, especially if your colours are red, gold and white, which are definitely Christmas colours. Maybe you could change one colour? Throw in a colour that immediately signals NOT Christmas? Brown or yellow instead of gold? You could pick a dark mustard or sunflower yellow if you don't want a bright or pastel hue. Any shade of blue, yellow, purple, pink, black, etc. would eliminate the CHristmas mood, I think. If you had a pastel coloured tulle on a tree with mini-lights I don't think it would look Christmasy. Honestly I don't even know if you need to decorate the trees, they are beautiful just as they are. I think they would look more mountain-ish if they aren't decorated. Maybe just wrap tule around the bottom and tie it with a ribbon. Sorry, that's all I got!

I know.... it's tough with red & white & gold & trees. Even *I* think Christmas with most of the ideas I have for decorating. As for throwing in another colour, other than gold... there are lots of good options, but pretty much anything pastel just isn't me, and anything that's a strong colour (other than green) will probably make the whole theme sorta fall apart.
I think you're right... I might just have to leave them "naked" or decorate the pots only.
I guess I have some time, I can try a few things at home and see what it looks like...
Thanks!
Melissa
