If you feel the need to tell someone (like whoever it is that told you that you need to have a theme) what your theme is, you could tell them it is bobbing for limes (e.g. limes floating in water).  Then make sure to look really proud of your unique theme (and keep a straight face).

You can even ask them to help you out by making personalized bibs to keep the water from dripping on people's nice clothes.

DO IT!!! I love that!

Sometimes people pick themes if they want to incorporate a personal interest of theirs into the wedding to tie it all together. We are having a LOTR meets Pride and Prejudice (two of our fav books) kinda theme - but we're not going overboard with it, it's more like an inspiration, or a particular mood we're aiming at to set the tone of the event.

You don't NEED a theme. If you still want to draw your wedding together more cohesively, you could always pick a mood instead, like elegance or royalty, or laid back, or country charm, or light and summery, etc. But make sure you pick something that's meaningful to you! Otherwise I wouldn't bother with it.

I completely approve of your theme! *pats various copies of the novel, and BBC special edition DVD*

Are you going to have a Regency gown?

The dress is a cross between Eowyn's dress from LOTR and Lizzy's dress in the BBC version (I had it made). It's made out of lace and has long, draped sleeves and an empire waist and is very flowy.  Very different from the dresses posted on here, but very me.

That sounds gorgeous, Symbrinity. I adore empire waists, and flowy, elegant dresses. You will look beautiful. You must show us the dress some time!

Thanks...I'll do a newlywed post after the wedding. Don't want to risk FH seeing it ahead of time. LOL - one time he was one click away from seeing a picture of me in it on my digital camera - I almost had a heart attack.
