| BAH!My MOH Is WONDERFUL, and she is really doing a lot of work to make my wedding wonderful. She REALLY wants us to have a Stag & Doe, and she has some FANTASTIC ideas, and I have been swept up in her ideas everytime we talk about it, but as soon as I walk away I'm filled with all of these worries and concerns... The prices she's quoting me are a LOT more than I was REALLY hoping to spend... I'm talking about $1500 for the whole thing. has anyone out there had a REALLY successful Stag and Doe that could give me some ideas to ensure that we don't lose money in this event?

Hi! $1500 really isn't that much to spend on a Stag & Doe (or social, or whatever you wanna call it). I'm spending $900 on the hall (which includes my corkage, mix, cups and garnish, set-up, strike, and security), $350 on the DJ, and probably $750 on prizes and a Texas mickey. That's $2000, and I haven't even bought the booze yet! BUT if you do it right, you make your money back and then some. For example, my social tickets are $10 per person. So selling 200 tickets will let me break even on my expenses. We've done the math, and found that if we sell 300 tickets and have 300 attend, and each guest buys $10 in silent auction tickets and 3 drinks, we'll make $4900 net profit. This is very do-able, seeing as we'll likely sell 400 tickets and most guests will buy more than 3 drinks and 1/2 will spend $20 or more on silent auction. Obviously, it's alot of work to pull off, but it's fun and worth it in the end. It isn't common in Manitoba, but I've heard of other brides having fund-raising games at their wedding socials... I hope you'll get some great ideas here! Best of luck!

| Depends on what the money is being spent on, how many guest are being invited and how many actually buy tickets. Jack and Jills can be very good money raisers but it is all in knowing your crowd. You are going to want to do things you know people are going to be interested in. Put out a few feelers out and get some opinions. If your crowd is a big beer drinking crowd then go with that... If you have a kind of conservative crowd you don't want things that are over the top. But from my exeprience a Naughty Basket always does well...fill it with flavor oils, condoms, a mask, handcuffs, feathers and stuff like that...have fun with it! It doesn't have to be dirty to be naughty. It can be a lot of fun and interesting to see who buys tickets for the naughty basket...lol I don't know if I answered your question or not but I hope I have helped in some way! Jacqs

LOL! Actually, we've got 400 tickets, and we'll probably sell them all. Manitobans love socials. We don't even have to know the couple getting married, and we'll buy tickets and go! Also, Manitoba wedding socials are about reciprocity. It's an unwritten rule that when someone offers you social tickets, and you're more than a casual acquaintance of the bride and/or groom, you buy tickets. If the person offering tickets bought tickets off you for your own/ your sister's/ your friend's/ your cousin's wedding social, you buy tickets. Even if you have no intention of attending, you buy tickets. My dad will sell 30 tickets at work just to people he's bought social tickets from... always reciprocity.

I've probaly been to more stag & doe's for people I don't know than for people I do I never think of stag & does as an "invite" party. If I buy a ticket than I can go simple as that
