| What is the etiquette with Shower Thank yous?? I have a few questions.. Do I thank everyone for coming even though I already did on the day? Does this thank you have to be a card by mail or can this be a phone call or email? For the people who brought gifts do I send the gift thank you now or after the wedding?

It's a great way to start off all of your thank you cards. Does this thank you have to be a card by mail or can this be a phone call or email? If they took the time to come to a wedding event and brought you a present, you can write them a real thank you card. I just finished mine, and I'm sending one to my mom, who obviously would have come to my shower and who I've talked to multiple times since the shower. It's just a nice gesture - good mail is so rare these days. For the people who brought gifts do I send the gift thank you now or after the wedding? If they brought you a gift to your shower, and it was specifically a bridal shower (not some random gathering of women that suddenly became a shower for you  ), they will most likely give you a second gift at the wedding. The point of a shower is to get gifts, crass as it may sound, and it is always good ettiquette to thank someone for a gift promptly. I hope that this helps you a bit! They don't have to be long cards or anything, but they will be much appreciated - and quite frankly, depending on your friends and family, will be duly noted if not received. Trust me, I've spent the last week making mine and handwriting a personalized thank you in each one; it's a bit of a pain in the hand after a while but absolutely necessary. Feel lucky that your loved ones took the time to throw you a shower - many brides don't get one!

| I completely agree with PP, you should always send out proper thank you cards for your shower. People took the time to buy you a gift and took time to come to the shower, so the bride should take the time to write out thank you cards and mail them. And it should be done as soon as you can after the shower.

I agree with the PP. My shower was on the 18th and I finished my Thanks yous yesterday night. If the card not being legible is a concern, type them out on the computer and print them in a nice font, just be sure they are all different just in case people compare cards.
Because of my disability I typed them and simply signed them, but it meant I had to write a little bit more to make it personal and look a little longer.

Hmmm I didn't know this, I better get started. I also have a question, someone at my shower told my sister to write down what I was getting for gifts for the thanks you cards ... why is that? Do I have to put thank you for the _____? We got thank you cards with our invitations and I didn't plan on being specific.

a basic thank you card should read something like:
Dear ___________,
Thank you so much for your generous gift and helping ____ and I start our new home. ____ and I have put it towards buying several place settings of Mikasa’s Satin Moon silverware which we chose for our good silver. OR ____ and I have put it towards our honeymoon fund for our trip to Disney World next summer. OR (What ever you may do with it.)
We are both looking forward to having you at our upcoming wedding and sharing the first of many new milestones of our lives with you.
