Is it almost 5?  I wanna go home.  12 more days of work and I am dooonne!

Almost 5 now Novalt.....4:07 p.m. and I soooo envy you with the work situation.  Will you be working in the States when you move there?

I'm at 4:10 now.. getting closer..

Nope, I'm going to be a housewife and stay at home mom.  What every girl dreams of being right?? haha, NOT so much.  But that's how my next 3-5 years are mapped out b/c of immigration.. it'll take that long before I can legally work there.... ahhh long story, will continue later, must get back to work, breaks over

Okay, so here goes... FH moved to MI for work 2 years ago after he graduated.  He was a year ahead of me.  The plan was to do long distance for that year, and I'd move and get a job there too.  We got a beautiful home.  I started doing research to see my options on getting a visa, or a TN like him.  Turns out TN status is reserved for the doctors/engineers/scientists/etc.. not someone with an econ degree and no work experience, and visas, out of the question.  I met with an immigration lawyer and she confirmed what I had already figured out through research myself.  So I found a job here in the meantime b/c time was ticking and OSAP due.

That's when we started having some pretty serious conversations for the first time.  FH wanted to know where I saw myself in x # of years, wanting to know how old I wanted to be when I have kids, will I want to work or stay home.  He wanted reassurance that I did in fact want to move there with him.  The idea of not contributing to our income really bothered me because I thought I would feel that it was more his money than my own.  The idea of not being able to work really bothered me, especially after putting myself through school, and in debt to do it.  I guess I was looking for reassurance that he understood all that I was having to give up, and all this without that 'official' commitment.

He proposed about a month after I had started my new job.  Even after six years, I was totally surprised!  I didn't think he could afford to get a ring for awhile.  So I got my commitment, and we started talking more about the future.  Still, we were thinking we'd get married in Aug'09.  This was in Sept. Fast forward to this Jan.. neither of us wanted to wait.  We were going on almost 2 years of seeing e.o. once or twice a month, with a few bigger stints here and there.  I was (am) living at home with my mom and she drives me crazy!

It was FH who brought up the topic of having kids sooner than later... it was so cute.  It was a week after he saw me hold our friend's 1-week old baby boy!  Personally I thought it made perfect sense, but I didn't want to say anything before b/c I didn't want to scare him away, lol.  Since I'm not able to work for the first few years, why not use that time to have kids and raise them through their early childhood?  I've always wanted to be young when I have kids (I'll be 24 when we get married, FH 25).  I have every intention of going back to work eventually, and try and do a few courses to keep up to date in the meantime, because it is important to me, and FH is on the same page with me here. (We'll need the extra income, we've got some big goals!)

SOOO that's my long story.  It's amazing how when life changes, your plans can totally change, and how communicating is key in making those plans work.. we literally laid everything out there to make sure we were on the same page.

SORRY for the long read.  I didn't realize it would get that long!
