Hello,

My surprise shower is next weekend (I know all about it) and I am a little nervous about sitting there for a really long time and opening gifts. Do I need to get up and kiss and thank the person for the gift after opening it? or do I wait until the end to do this? any advice?

I am soooo dreading that! I HATE opening gifts infront of people.

I would wait till the end to thank everyone. If you got up each time to thank each individual person it would make things go by even longer and would probably be even more awkward than it already is.

I'm not opening gifts - I'm leaving that up to the BM as the guests arrive. People can have a look at all of them througout the day. BMs are going to tape the cards to the gifts so people will know who it is from. I'll be making my dreaded speech (I hate attention and I hate public speaking) before sweets/desserts are served.

It would have been impossible for me to get up and thank every one while I was opening presents as there was a wall of presents because of all the guests. I jest thanked everyone together and sent out really personalized thank you cards.
