What are some good products to buy that allow you to DIY when it comes to waxing? ... legs, underarms....etc..?

ETA: FH's sister has stuff that you warm up on the stove I THINK.. and then paste it on, and pull it off? Not sure what it's called or if it's any good.. I will find out, but I want to hear your opinions?

I tried the DIY route once - on my legs and bikini line.  One time was enough for me to realize that it was best left for the professionals.  I am someone who takes forever to pull a band aid off so it is easier for me to have someone else rip my body hair.  She gets me talking and then I have no real idea when she is going to rip!  Plus it is a way better job...especially in the most sensitive of areas

I've tried a couple of at-home ones, and they were all useless.  Ok, I admit, there's a lot of user error involved (ie: I suck ) but I decided it was best left to professionals.  They know what they're doing, have better technique and better products.  It's also less painful, to me at least, since they do have the technique down.

For what it's worth, I tried the Cire Divine (the one you heat in the microwave, that doesn't need strips), and it works okay, but it's VERY MESSY.

Getting married in Ottawa... sometime in 2010...

When you meet someone who can cook and do housework,

don't hesitate a minute - marry him!

Yeah, I just called FH's sister and Cire Divine is the stuff she has, I've watched her use it and it looks like it can be a mess, but she handles it pretty well. She said she shaves even though she waxes, so she told me I could have it, because she shaves everyday anyways.

Me I just can't handle shaving every day.. sometimes I forget and then I put a pair of shorts on and go out the door and next thing I know I'm like TURN AROUND...!! lol.

OK.. as far as professionally getting waxed, how much does it cost on average? ... and how long does it last???

The cost depends on what body part you are having done.

Where I live (average price)

eyebrows/upper lip  10$

underarm 15-20

full leg 40  half leg 25

bikini 15 -20

brazilian 40

I find that I am totally smooth for maybe 2 weeks and then it slowly starts to come back in.  I go about every 4 weeks!
