Hey girls,

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good caterers in the pickering/scarborough area?? My hubby is kinda nuts and thinks we need to find a caterer before we book our reception venue, and i keep telling him we need to book the hall so we can get our date and find a caterer after! There are so many out there!

Keep in mind that I'm on a tight budget!

Thanks in advance!

some venues have in-house caterers.
some venues require you to hire outside caterers, but give you a list of exclusive caterers which are the only ones you may use for that location.

you CAN work backwards, and pick a caterer first, but you might be limiting your venue choices doing it that way.

i was looking at miller lash house, in scarborough. one of the caterers on their "list" is A Catered Affare- i'm still in the researching/collecting brochure stage, but Catered Affare were very prompt in responding to my first information request. i emailed all 10 caterers on the MLH list. ACA responded in like a day, the rest i've been waiting on for a week now.

s'all i know

10tations Event Catering is the company we're going with and Sarah (our contact/event planner there) is AWESOME!

She gave us a quote/proposal which was a bit out of our budget, but after a lot of tweeking, we were able to get it down to what we were happy with.  She was more than happy to adjust what she recommended and even tried to think of other ways to cut costs (such as taking into consideration things that the hall could provide us instead of renting it).

I've met with the lady from A Catered Affaire (I can't remember her name) and she was very friendly also.  She gave a quote/proposal which was, like everyone else, out of our budget so I asked if there was a way to cut it down a bit.  Her demeanor kinda changed after that question.  She didn't seem to want to cut down on stuff, and it kind of felt like she didn't want to deal with me because I could afford her proposal.

Anyways...long story short, I love 10tations!

I second 10tation!  We are planning with Jennifer from there and she is awesome!  Again, their initial quote was much higher than we budgeted for, but Jen was so cool about trying to fit everything into our budget.  She came up with some creative solutions to help save us money.

Their food is delicious, as well!  We were ready to sign right after our tasting.
