Thanks girls! Yes, the guests will be at "their seats" just with the table moved around a little bit. FH doesn't really care about the recieving line, just I want one...I just don't want to seem "bridezilla" by getting people to get up and come through...I may get me coordinator to do it lol or my mom.

Hiya,

I just posted this reply to Scraggles which you may find useful. THe last approach may work for you?

Here are a few recieving line tips from The Modern Bride Survival Guide (copyright 2008, published by John Wiley and Sons) which may give you something to think about:

"Keep it small: Don't have the entire wedding party greet your guests - your bridesmaids and groomsmen can mingle with the crowd while you and your parents serve line duty

Keep it moving: Don't take 10 minutes to catch up with your out-of-town pal while the rest of your guests wait to congratulate you - give your friends a quick hello and let them know you will meet up with them later on

Do it early: If you don't want your guests standing in line, head right back in to your ceremony site after your exit to release them row by row from the ceremony. That way, guets can stay seated until it is their turn to say a brief hello and then head to the reception.

Try a more casual approach: Consider going from table to table during dinner to mete and greet your guests instead of holdin the traditional recieiving line. YOu may miss out on most of ht emeal, but you'll be able to work your way thorugh your invitees at your own pace (and perhaps a little faster than you would by greeting each person individually)"

Just keep in mind that the best laid plans.....

We had planned for no recieving line and just going table to table. But, once one person comes over to say congrats, often others follow. Thats what happened to us, and before we knew it people were lined up. Be prepared to go with whatever happens! :-)

We had our ceremony and reception in the same room.  After the ceremony, we did an impromptu receiving line in the foyer outside the room.  We then did a group picture and then the wedding party took off for pictures while the guests returned to the reception room for cocktails and appies.

i did this too except we did pics inside cause it was snowing like crazy! it was in Janurary.
