I just found something online that said you should keep paystubs just until you receive your year-end tax statements.  So a shredding I will go!

It also said to keep all credit card statements for 7 years.  Oops!  I usually only keep them until the next bill comes in, and I reconcile all purchases and payments made.

I don't bother even keeping my credit card statements, I can always check them anytime from my phone or my online banking.  Besides I pay all my bills online, why keep them?

The same website said to keep unimportant bank records for 1 year, and important stuff forever.  I'm guessing that means you can shred the statements after a year, but keep all the account info forever, like from when you opened the account, or any changes you made to the account.  I don't know about cancelled cheques.  I'm still not sure why you would have to keep credit card statements for 7 years?  I don't need that long of a reminder of my poor spending habits

I think I'm going to take a break now and have some lunch.  Back in a bit!

No, I don't get cancelled cheques back, I just check my online banking and when they are taken out they are taken out.  As for my bank statements, again I can check online.  Why bother?  I like to do as paperless as possible.

You have to keep credit card statements?  Fcuk that, if they need to see them it is my right to request copies sent to me, when I "accidently" shred them every month.  Besides, they have copies the originals on the computer why should they clutter up my filing cabinet?

Hi all,

So what a few horrible days I've just had. Turns out I have a viral stomach bug (aka food poisoning) and was in bed for the last 2.5 days. Can I just say I don't ever wish this upon anyone. So what's up with CB? We lost the front page? Strange. Anything else going on?
