| So the phone rings this evening and there's a person asking for me, but I can tell that they don't know me...good thing I didn't hang up! She says that my name has been drawn from a group of ballots submitted at a bridal show and that I've won one of five prizes! I was still kind of shocked about the whole thing, so I only wrote down four of the five prizes, but they include (my scribbly notes say): 2 weeks at a Beaches/Sandals resort (not sure if flight is included), 10 days in Hawaii (flight included), 8 days in Cancun (no flight), 46" plasma TV!!! Of course, it turns out there's a slight catch -I have to go and listen to a travel seminar for an hour -but I asked the woman a million times if I had to buy anything and she said "no." Then she added that if I show up on time on Saturday, I would automatically win a three day stay at Niagara on the Lake or some Vegas trip (can't remember the details because I'm more interested in the Niagara)! So after I show up on time, and listen to this travel club thing for 60 minutes, then I get to go over to a big bin and pull out a prize!!! Normally, I don't do these kind of things, but I figured I am only losing an hour of my time. I checked the company out online at https://www.funforlifeclub.com/default.aspx and it looks reputable, but not anything I'd be interested in joining, so I'm not worried that I'll be talked into buying anything (I'm also not prone to impulse buying or getting scammed). So, I'm kind of excited about the whole thing (I never win anything!) -I'm just wondering if anyone else has heard of this or participated in one of the seminars? I really hope it's not a scam, however, if you know for sure it is, I'd love to know. I'll give you the update after Saturday! jj

| I have been called soooooo many times!!! I would be cautious with this....my FH seems to think this is all a hoax to get you in there & you have have to listen to them talk (something like timeshare). If you go, let me know what happens....I was asked to go this weekened and last weekend as well....But something just doesn't sound right about them !!!

If you go, let me know what happens....I was asked to go this weekened and last weekend as well....But something just doesn't sound right about them !!! Thanks for the warning. Yeah, I am pretty cautious about these things (I will go in as a serious skeptic -let's think of it as an "investigative" trip), and although I'm not a total cheapskate, it's pretty difficult for me to part with my money. I I figure that if they tell you you beforehand that you have to listen to a talk, which they did, then it's all fair -and afterall, I did put my name in a draw. Since I looked up the place online, read about their fees and read through their policy/contract document, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm up against: there's a $100US fee for joining their "club" and then you have to pay for any vacation expenses after that; I think they try to reel you in by saying that their properties are inaccessible to the general public unless you join their club. For the people who go on vacation to resorts every year, I'm sure it's probably a good deal. Since the only time I plan to stay at a resort is on my honeymoon (my "vacations" are usually spent with nonprofit agencies running children's programs/camps or doing construction projects), I don't think I'll be as tempted as some others. I also have immediate family living in Barbados and Antigua, so going to the Caribbean isn't a huge deal. Well, I guess I'll find out how good my resistance is and I'll let you know! (ugh, I'm really setting the bar for myself aren't I?) I'd still like to hear from anyone who actually went... jj

| Whatever you do, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH FUN FOR LIFE CLUB... at least the one at 311 Matheson Blvd E in Mississauga, Ontario. I can't speak for the other locations. But honestly, it is the biggest SCAM I've ever seen in my life. And no, I'm not just paranoid, I have real experience. I know a dozen other people that have lost thousands of dollars to Fun for Life (FFL). They say that you've won a prize, then give you a presentation in which they pressure you like CRAZY to sign up.... and then when you do sign up it turns out to be a total lie. They do not offer the vacations they say they do. They maybe offer 30% on a very few vacations only during the peak season. They have no customer service and they do not let you cancel, despite their cancellation policy in their contract. They say that you are cancelled, but never refund your money. You can read some of the countless horror stories here: If anyone is experiencing problems getting their refund back from FFL, please email me (rwnewson at hotmail dot com) and I have some ideas that the lawyer gave us.
