Our colours are turquoise and brown and I wanted to come up with a signature drink i.e some kind of a blue martini with a chocolate rimmed glass.  I went on a site but haven't tried these drinks myself (other than a blue lagoon) wondering if anyone has experience with a nice blue drink?

start with what blue liquor you want to use...
blue curacao-orange flavor, most blue cocktails out there use this
hypnotiq-tropical fruit flavors, has tons of suggestions on their website
blue sourz- i think it's also tropical fruit

or you could go with a green liquor and add a drop of blue food coloring. (melon, mint, etc)

only thing i'd be careful about is rimming with chocolate, it might not go well with some fruity drinks. you could always use brown sugar instead. or another brown garnish- like a sprig of vanilla would look nice in a blue champagne cocktail. if you can find pesticide-free brown flowers you can float them atop of martinis.

I agree... I can't think of a blue cocktail that goes well with a chocolate rim...

There are lots of tastey blue drinks out there... try blue curaco, pineapple juice and butterscotch schnapps. Sounds weird, I know, but it's delicious! (it was the signature drink for spring at the resteraunt my sister manages -- we drank them ALOT!)

well, actually, if you DO want a chocolate rim you could just do a chocolate martini, and add a bit of blue coloring.
-equal parts vodka and white creme de cacao, shaken with ice

or chocolate mint martini- the above recipe but add a bit of green creme do menthe (will make it more turquoisey) but that might be too wintery.

OR...just pick any blue drink and get/make brown swizzle sticks.

I did chocolate peppermint martinis at my Xmas party 2 years ago - garnished with mini candy canes. They were clear because of the white creme de cacao and the vodka + peppermint schnapps were all clear but dayum they tasted good!

However that is wintery..... for a summer drink I personally love pineapple juice and blue curacao shaken over ice and strained into a martini glass or served in the tall glass (is that a high ball glass?) and garnished w/ a pineapple wedge but that's yellow, not brown.... hmmm - I think you may need to just use food colouring my dear.

Here is a martini I found at http://www.bluedining.com:

Blue Berry Cream
Stoli Blueberry Vodka, Absolut Raspberry, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur, Blue Curacao & Cream

If you are bringing your own liquor in, see if you can get hold of this or another vodka like it (coloured vodka) and you can do chocolate martinis with the blue vodka, and garnish with chocolate. Go here to see what I mean:

http://www.uvvodka.com/home.html

From their website I found this recipe called the BERRY WHITE (haha like Barry White the singer?):

The Berry White is a delicious mix of flavors that features UV Blue Vodka. This raspberry flavored vodka is accented in this drink with chocolate, orange and lime from the other ingredients.
INGREDIENTS:

* 1/2 oz UV Blue Vodka
* 1/2 oz crème de cacao
* 1/2 oz Triple Sec
* 1/2 oz lime juice

PREPARATION:

1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice.
2. Shake well.
3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

2 B Wed in June 2009!
Me (29) + FH (32) + his son (12) = 9.5 years together

Done so far:
-Wedding party chosen
-Put brainstorming into overdrive
-Considered every venue in South-Central Ontario and narrowed down to a short-list (I think)
-Started dress search
-Hired a planner/coordinator
-Compiled lists of vendor services (photography, decor, cakes, etc.)
-Booked NOTHING! But getting close........ I think?

What about Mojitos? You could do a variation i.e.
The Mojito Coco

12 mint leaves
1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
2 oz. coconut rum
1/2 oz. simple syrup
1 oz cream of coconut
club soda to top off (1-2 oz.)

Directions: Muddle the mint with the lime juice in a cocktail shaker. Add rum, syrup and coconut cream, and shake well with ice. Strain into tall glasses and top off with club soda. Garnish with extra mint leaves.
Or just a regular Mojito (minty drink) with chocolate rim, but the fruity one may nicer in the summer. FYI: I haven't tried, but a bartender friend recomended.
