Woke up this morning to some spotting, so we went for an ultrasound this afternoon.  Baby's heartbeat is strong at 139/bpm so that is very reassuring.  I am off on bedrest until the spotting stops.

It was great to see the little bean!

I am going for my first u/s on June 11, I hope I will be able to hear the heartbeat.  It's a nuchal translucency (spelling) u/s, has anyone had one of these?

that's the one I went to yesterday!! - I don't think its any different than any other ultrasound other than they have to get the baby in a certain position so that they can see and measure  a specific spot behind their neck.  It's really neat - it was my first ultrasound so I really enjoyed it - didn't care much for the bloodwork though   we also had our results before we left so that was nice to.

I can't wait for mine.  Did you get to hear the heartbeat?

None of my regular bottoms fit me any more so I am into maternity clothes now for the bottom. THAT was a brutal shopping trip! I am a size 18/20 and there are no plus size maternity shops in Victoria!!! I had a big breakdown in a change room about it. THEN I went to walmart of all places and found a pair of capris, shorts, skirt and a pair of jeans!! I was a happy girl. Looks like Walmart will be my first place to look for more mat clothes.

Just poking my nose in this thread... Becca, I'm a size 20/22, so I've definitely had the same frustration. I don't know if there's a Motherhood Maternity on the island, but I've been to one in Burnaby that has a section of plus-sized stuff. Not a ton, but enough that I found a great pair of jeans and some capri pants (and a ton of tops) that fit well. They also have a Canadian version of their website, so if you could make it to one and try on a few sizes, you'd be able to order more. (LOL - my mom took it upon herself to call around to a bunch of maternity stores and ask if they carried anything in a 1X-2X, and Motherhood was pretty much the only hit.)

I haven't really looked at Walmart for bottoms, but I've had some luck finding tops there - some that are just regular plus-sizes larger than I usually wear.

Thanks Amanda! Sadly, we don't have a motherhood maternity on the island, but I have been told that the Surrey location has a lot of the plus size. I am in the process of trying to arrange a road trip to the mainland for some MH and Ikea shopping.

Someone needs to open a store that caters to just plus size maternity wear...and TRUE plus sizes!

Married the Best Man on Land or Sea on Sept 29/07 and expecting a Pink Princess on or around Dec 7/08!!!!

Also known as Pinky!!!

I'm with you there! Some things that actually fit like they're supposed to, not just more material... Good tip about the Motherhood in Surrey - the Burnaby one is closer to my mom, but the Surrey one is closer to me. Guess I'll have to check it out!

I can't wait for mine.  Did you get to hear the heartbeat?

I didn't get to hear as they wouldn't turn the sound on for us but I got to see it beating which was just as good!  It was beating at 178 beats per minute

It's great because even though the baby is only 6cm big the ultrasound zooms in so you can see it full screen.  It actually looks like a real baby!!  you can see the bone structure, eye sockets, nasal cavity and I even saw the entire spine of my baby it was way too cool - I'll have to post pics .....
